Not only did she kill it, but it can't be overstated how important the narrator was in this game. It really gave you the feeling of a great DnD DM who can tell you what you are thinking and feeling and you BELIEVE it. Big props to all the teams involved as well
The Narrator voice MAKES this game. The delivery of every. single. line. Perfection. (Authority.).. And the out-takes, lmao. Amelia is a true gem. Ah- that's why. The aversion to failure, the obsession, the perfectionism, that drive. That sounds exactly like how Swen described the whole team.
Not once did it even go through my head that having a female narrator means something. Hearing Amelia be surprised there was no backlash over it makes me realize to some it would matter but personally I only heard just an amazing narrator. I loved Maladys voice already and this one just takes it to next level. The whole experience is just incredible with Amelias voice. Also, Dan, you've earned yourself a new subscriber, these BG3 VA interviews have been great to listen.
I would say its guiding, the tone of narrator is absolutely important, What I think Larian had in mind is that they knew that this might be a lot of peoples introduction to the Genre and her guiding voice and almost bedtime story narration was the best choice.
not if they do a good work, which the bg3 narrator did. besides u cant say gaming comunity didnt like tomb raider because she was a woman, i dont know a single person that played the games and dont like them. its not about man or woman, its about good or bad job, you do a good job = you get praised, you do a shit job = you get shit on@@JizzusCry

AUTHORITY! I love her voice and she did a spectacular job in BG3. She made the game more interesting of how the way she narrated the game. Good job miss Amelia. You were fantastic! 🥰
Nice to get more BG3 cast here. Damn im still waiting my favorite voice from BG3. The charming devil Raphael (Andrew Wincott) who even has his own disney villain song in the game.
One thing I appreciate about Amelia is the difference in her voice when she's narrating the game, and when she's narrating the Dark Urge. Splendid quality
53:05 What a wonderful human beeing. Kinda shy while receiving this deserved compliment. Hope she gifts us as often as possible with her presence and her talents
This is brilliant. I cannot remember a narrator so impactful on anything I've experienced. She was always the right amount of demanding and challenging - as if "no, this is not a cookie cutter thing, your actions do have consequences" - whilst always being captivating and engaging. IMHO deserving an award and recognition from the gaming space regarding to this. Truly, when you talk about games being able to be immersive and especially BE more immersive than in other mediums concerning storytelling... I cannot think of a better example. It's like the embodiment of the best voice I could never imagine in all the novels I read as a younger person - that would be so much better if I actually had the pleasure of listening to that voice as the narrator... With many views on multiple Dan Allen videos on BG3 I truly looks like we got to be lucky to have so many talented and knowledgeable people in the multiple areas of production working on this project that by the end we were graced by all that unshackled talent and quality that just rings so good and true but also the sum of all their parts and efforts elevates it way above my wildest dreams. Just the amount attention to detail and like abandon care in pursuit of the ultimate best performance possible. Completely bonkers. I'm proud of this for the gaming space. Cheers!
Amelia is officially my favorite voice, I haven't finished the interview yet but does she do anything like audiobooks or ASMR? I could listen to her talk forever lol. Her voice is so soothing to my soul. Thanks to Larian for casting such amazing VA's across the board, and to all the VAs for such passion and heart. I've never had a video game experience quite like BG3 and I've been gaming since the beginning of PC gaming.
That necklace is so beautiful! That silver streak is killer. She has a great voice, and I hope she has a long career! The severe response to failure is common with ADHD. It's called RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria)
I feel like after the outtakes, people loved her even more. She's awesome. I really related when she was talking about aphantasia. My mind was blown when I realized people actually could "see" things in their imagination. I'm just thinking about concepts, rather than picturing stuff.
Def best narrator in a game I've ever heard. Hearing the narrator's voice in bg3 is like a reward. It's such good game design that the game loop is you looking for the next breadcrumb of your inner voice.
This voice has been 'haunting' me (in a very pleasant way, mind you) since my first PC RPG game Pathfinder:Kingmaker (and I barely recognized her in the Wrath of the Righteous). I am really happy she got the job of a narrator for BG3.
She seems like such a chill relatable person! I was so in love with Malady in big part because of her voice and having her narrate the entire game for me was a perfect cherry on top of the amazing experience that was BG3. Looking forward to hear more of her amazing voice and all the great characters she'll bring to life in the future! Also, absolutely loved the outtakes, some of that stuff is now forever in my vocabulary of stupid quotes and I hope more is coming :D
Delivered a stellar performance. Especially the Dark Urge storyline she absolutely killed it. My friends and I SEVERAL times have had to stop to comment on just how good the narration is.
I love the work of Amelia. And I live to listen to a yet another episode of Narrator Outtakes, it's so much fun. Crazy that it's all recorded at home, thank you for the interview and thank you for releasing the bloopers!
I love when I hear her narrate the repercussions of a decision I've made that may have been sinister in nature. I almost hear a tinge of malevolence and a slight smile while the narration is occurring. I've audibly laughed a few times just due to how delicious the narration was.
When i was playing, i felt like if she was sitting in a corner of my room, whispering wonders to my ears for me to fall asleep and enter the dream world of BG3. I am so grateful that despite everything that happen around the world, there's still a " bunch of weirdos " that poured their souls into a project just to give people some kind of solace. BG3 is a piece of Art and Amelia did an amazing job. Damn her voice gave me chills ! I am sad because i've finish the game. I won't ever be able to forget the experience of BG3. My soul is branded. GOTY incomming.
"my soul is branded" exactly! The sheer emotion throughout the whole game is so powerful. The use of narration really sets BG3 apart, and Amelia just nailed it. They're legends now, and deservedly so! Also... it's almost easier to count the number of team members who don't have some flavour of ADHD than those with. 😂
I think part of what makes her such a good choice for the Narrator/GM role is her lower register voice. It's very soothing to listen to baseline, but in the hands (well, vocal chords) of a good actor, it can also easily be switched to affirming, comforting, teasing or menacing. It's like your subconscious responds to the timbre of the voice. Male bass voices has some of the same elements. When she spoke of how much of the narrator voice they put in, as well as the tone of it (Scar vs being on your side) I think it also really helps that she has had some bad GM experiences playing TTRPG's. I would give her a good sense of what not to do. And it seems a lot of the staff at Larian are into TTRPG's as well, so the writers and directors probably have more than an acerage sense of the same thing. Still some trial and error of course, but I think that sense of when to put in the narrator, and in what tone, helps to make it as good as it is. Which is amazing. :) I also really like this more free-form format of interviews, where a few questions are asked but there's also a lot of space/time given to let the person being interviewed speak things through, so to speak. Or go off on tangents, which often end up adding context or elaboration of the question, or offers more insight into the person behind the voice, both of which I enjoy.
34:37 "I don't like the part of me that's scared--or rather I want to make it okay for that part of myself. And apparently, the way I do that is to hurl myself headlong towards things that scare me." I don't know about anyone else, but to me that was so vivid. I visualized her comforting a younger or smaller version of herself saying something like "I know you're scared. I'll tell you what I'm going to do. You're me and I'm you. I'm going to do the scary thing, or go to the scary place, and it's all going to be okay." With all her mentioned trauma, ADHD, anxiety, and therapy, this is what seems to me as her rising to the occasion and taking control. Absolute Authority.
Amelia's voice carried the entire BG3 experience and gave the adventure a touch of fantasy mystery that helped getting more immersed into the story. I love these interviews of yours. PC gaming master race! I laughed so hard when Amelia talked about her controller incompetence. I've been a gamer since the 1970s, just bought a PS5 this summer, and I suck so bad, lol. Lovely interview. Thank you both.
This game is so beautiful and this narration was truly the icing on the cake. I honestly cried when I finished the game because I was just absolutely floored by how artful it is. She did a phenomenal job.
its like every aspect of this game from the individuals to the entire team are just genuine, real, caring, relatable, loving people. This game is almost like the result of all the stars aligning perfectly to create this once in a century type of thing that happens
i relate to her so much, i just wanna say: I have just today discovered your channel and all of these amazing interviews. You are an amazing interviewer and your passion, kindness and familiarty mis absolutely inspiring. I love this!
Wonderful performance in BG3 from Amelia as always. Also love the blooper reels - the text overlays are very Soviet Womble-esque and dial the hilarity up to 11.
These interviews are amazing. I love the long format and the indexing in the description. I keep coming back to them in bits and pieces and this whole cast makes me happy. I think I've watched more about the game than I've actually played it so far.
She’s an absolutely wonderful, skilled and lovely human being. Her narration makes me so happy. I can’t wait for my Durge play through! I wish I could be friends with her. She’s just great and I wish her all the happiness in the world ❤
Fantastic work. It's very strange, but her face is exactly the face I would've imagined for her narrator's voice. Uncanny. Beautiful and alluring, dark and mysterious, yet also grounded, and a bit of silvery sardonic streak. Very, very effective narration too. Even in this interview, she could just say how she feels about a pair of shoes she bought, and I'd _feel_ like she's explaining the way of the world.
Great talk. Great guest. Dan does an outstanding job in letting his guest speak and asking direct, thought out questions to encourage further speaking.
Spoilers for Act 1 of Pathfinder Kingmaker below. This is the quality that makes her role as Nyrissa in Pathfinder: Kingmaker so great, because she evokes that feeling while she is begging your aid. After she gets what she wants from you, the turn is all the more effective. While the game has its flaws, Nyrissa was given a level of depth that was lacking in the Pathfinder Adventure it had been adapted from.
my entire gaming group (and those who have the machines for it have the game, we make fun of the ones who don't) universally love her and we say "Authority" any time it's remotely connected to what we are doing (in game or out of it)
All the voice actors for this game are so good and seem like nice people. I haven’t even played the game but I will at some point in the future but been watching videos about it and getting hyped about getting it one day.
There is something about your voice that just instantly, and I think universally, clicks with people. When I heard the first word out of Malady in DOS2, her character immediately became the "only person in the room". Well congrats on achieving the legend status that you deserve Amelia. Looking forward to what's next!
I remember when I first played the game in ea after a friend recommended I buy it. Her voice and her work was the first thing to stand out to me. I kept gushing to my friend how much I love the narrator in this game. And to this day her work is one of the things in the game I love most
I just stumbled upon this, and I haven't yet played BG3, but what she said about how she performs and how she acts, with the transferring things into emotions, just made me feel so much better about the way I act. It's hard to verbalize and I feel like she hit the nail right on the head.
These actors are set for work for a good long time and that is mana from heaven for actors. Good on these guys and girls. I hope there’s loads of sequels and loads of rework needed for expansions too!
I love your work as the narrator in BG3, Amelia, you’re the best! Have you ever done audiobooks, would you like to try that type of narration? I think you definitely have the voice for it!
This was my first gaming experience with a narrator and it completely blew me away! It added so much to the story telling and DnD immersion. Brilliant job Amelia!
I have never played D&D games. Too complex, too much text to read. And then these dices... When I started BG3 for the first time (because of the hype) and this intense narrator's voice started, I was hooked. That voice, that intensity grabbed me and kept me there. I claim: without this narration BG3 would only be half as exciting and entertaining. I hope she has been paid enough. :)
She did a fantastic job and the narrator is one of the best aspects of the whole game!! Especially the Shadow Vestiges lines are so hauntingly beautiful that you really feel for the person the shadow once was, amazing!! When do you ever feel bad for a normal enemy you just killed?? Absolutely outstanding!!
If anyone wants to ROMANCE one of Amelia's characters (and also test their CRPG mettle), give Pathfinder: Kingmaker a try! Pathfinder can seem much more complex and difficult than D&D or DOS2, and it is, but every layer of complexity makes it much more thought out and stable and rewarding especially into the late game. The Pathfinder games by Owlcat are true gems that I wish got as popular and mainstream as Baldur's Gate 3 and Amelia's character Nyrissa is a gem within a gem and worth every trail trodden on one of the greatest adventures.
Gotta say, this narrator was the thing in the game that stood out more, even though all voice actors were incredible, but the fact that i created a female character and then when i first heard her voice i IMMEDIATELY wanted to play her! And it paid out, i'm still playing campaign and don't wanna finish , every corner and interaction, so much detail, emotions, feelings, amazing
The way she releases them is part of what makes them so good. It feels like someone has just made a compilation of their favourite soundbites from somewhere and added subtitles, and then you check the channel name and you're like WAIT FUCK WHAT??

There’s a jaunty smarta$$ side to her performance that gives me legit sexy feelings when the narrator pops in. 😂 She’s brilliant.
She's one of the best narrators I've heard in games and she's great as a kind of "DM voice".
@ImDrunk99Bingo! I had the exact same thought. She is phenomenal at evoking emotions from the players.
Good thing because players will hear her very often throughout the game. She is the one voice you cannot really avoid.

Dan I love all your interviews on BG3 so much. They have all been a true joy. Amelia is such a legend. I could listen to her talk forever.
This series has been a really awesome coup for you and totally enjoyable, these actresses have all been amazing.
She was so amazing! Not only as the narrator, but also as Nyrissa from Kingmaker, one of my fav. villians of all time.
She’s an absolutely wonderful, skilled and lovely human being. Her narration makes me so happy. I can’t wait for my Durge play through!
I wish I could be friends with her. She’s just great and I wish her all the happiness in the world ❤
Bro, her voice is so sexy and velvety. Such an amazing work and adds so much to the game experience.
It is so amazing how great ALL of the voice actors have been. To @AmeliaTyler I have to say thank you very much for your work.
*pauses video and furiously googles aphantasia* oh
A lot of this Outtakes are running Gags for me and my friends now. They are great!
Ketheric Thorm, at your thervice.
(He'th mixthed up in thome illithid buthineth!)
I'm so glad there will be more outtake videos! They're so hilarious. Amelia is a treasure ♥
Was graced with her mesmerizing voice since Malady of DOS....not far back but she hit me with that voice like no other.
Amelia, your natural speaking voice is so calming and smooth. It's no wonder all the Narrator lines come across so well, and with such... AUTHORITY.
Bro her voice enters your brain and feels like the touch of a soft and gentle hand from a sweet and innocent princess from a fairy tale...
While the game has its flaws, Nyrissa was given a level of depth that was lacking in the Pathfinder Adventure it had been adapted from.
wow your podcast trailer is epic af😅
Thanks! I edited it myself lol.
She did such an amazing job. And an amazingly funny person!
my entire gaming group (and those who have the machines for it have the game, we make fun of the ones who don't) universally love her and we say "Authority" any time it's remotely connected to what we are doing (in game or out of it)
She has the most sensual voice in the industry.
All the voice actors for this game are so good and seem like nice people. I haven’t even played the game but I will at some point in the future but been watching videos about it and getting hyped about getting it one day.
She killed it. Glad she's getting the praise she deserves.
Seems to me Larian trusts a lot of their people. That's why it shows through in the product.
There is something about your voice that just instantly, and I think universally, clicks with people. When I heard the first word out of Malady in DOS2, her character immediately became the "only person in the room". Well congrats on achieving the legend status that you deserve Amelia. Looking forward to what's next!
I loved you as malady, you're amazing as the narrator. love your outtakes videos too. absolute legend.
I was so happy when they released the early access of BG3 and I heard my favorite Mama Malady as the narrator. Amelia you are amazing!
Her voice acting in BG3 is one of a sooth Goddess
She did a fantastic job and the narrator is one of the best aspects of the whole game!! Especially the Shadow Vestiges lines are so hauntingly beautiful that you really feel for the person the shadow once was, amazing!! When do you ever feel bad for a normal enemy you just killed?? Absolutely outstanding!!
Omgggggg her narration has been the best! ❤❤❤
Wow what a lovely person Amelia is! I wonder if she ever did LARP?
I'm so happy to hear that Amelia's been getting great, positive feedback. :) :)
The way she releases them is part of what makes them so good.
It feels like someone has just made a compilation of their favourite soundbites from somewhere and added subtitles, and then you check the channel name and you're like WAIT FUCK WHAT??
Such an incredible and beautiful person with an epic voice!!!
