What would have been "necessary" and "fair" would be to recognize it immediately and even prevent the usurping of land it enabled in the following years. The only way international law and human rights become meaningful -- not just abstract aspirations disconnected from human action -- is if a large influential part of a society understands them and commits to them. This commitment does not exist in Middle East societies. Does Not Exist. The evidence is overwhelming. There is the enormous number of dead and displaced indigenous people of Syria, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Iraq, Lebanon, Sinai (IS), Afghanistan, Kashmir, Mali and so on. There is the intimidation and arrest by state security of persons suspected of being unfriendly to the regime of the moment. There is the torture. There are the corrupt judicial systems, the sham trials, imprisonment in terribly cruel conditions, the executions (sometimes public). To deploy international law and human rights in support of radical rejectionist Palestinian nationalists is to champion ethnic cleansing and genocide of Jews who are defending their only homeland on less than 1% of the Arab Middle East.
I hope this happens to the countries that are directly involved in allowing this and are watching this and they call themselves Democrats. Where is the Human Rights and International Law!!!!
