    A big thing to consider is whether or not these RN-BSN programs are pass or fail, or if you get actual grades. CRNA programs in particular want to see actual grades. But if you’re wanting a BSN just to make yourself look better on a resume, then a pass or fail program will definitely be easier overall

    I’m starting my LPN- ADN program in the spring 2025 semester. My employer is already covering my ADN program but because I’m a scholar of a workforce development center, I receive scholarships from them, so they will cover my RN-BSN program which is awesome. Hello I am an RN and I keep hearing about WGU but each person has their own opinions about the program. They say it’s self taught..I’m pretty dedicated but I am concerned about teaching myself. Are there at least recorded class lessons to follow or is it just me reading and hoping I’m covering what will be on an exam. I just don’t want to cmmit to a school and then you have no guidance…I can’t afford to waste money like that. It’s the uncertainty that is holding me back right now. Thank you for your time and this video.

    • @amberchappell3623
      @amberchappell3623 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If I’m being honest. I learned more in a more “self taught” school than I did at Major Universities. The difference is being taught general concepts vs self taught you are graded on how well you apply the concepts to real life situations which helps you utilize it in your work more. That was a concern of mine as well.

    All of these online programs you mentioned, are contingent upon completing certain general education requirements first, before you can apply. Prospective applicants may not have completed the required general education courses, especially in Florida, and will have to pay for those courses first. This adds to the length and cost of getting a BSN degree online. Also, in-state and out-of-state tuition is different for public state universities. Some private universities charge the same tuition for in-state and out-of-state students.

    Very interesting. I wonder where Grand Canyon University, Independence University and Indiana Weslian University fall in that line-up. I had sort of thought I would do my BSN through a Christian school but both you and Ashley Adkins, RN went through WGU and I was wondering how exactly that worked. It almost sounds like the way that Sophia Academy is laid out, which is the online college I used to get my psych, sociology, Spanish, English lit and pre-biology credits (then transferred them into my school)

    • @Katherine_Ann
      @Katherine_Ann  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Heidi! I realllyyyy enjoyed WGU due to simplicity and cost. The way I see it with a Christian college is... it's soooo expensive. So why not just get my basic degree as cheap as I can with the quality still there and eventually go back to take other Chrsitian and theological classes possibly by a college but... lots of Churches and ministries offer classes too for a great price!

      @@faithwalk. Well I’m still in nursing school working towards my RN so others might be better to address this, but I am an older non-traditional student with some life and experience under my belt if not medical working experience. So here is what I would tell you, same I tell my kids. Life is too short and work is too much of our lives to spend it doing something we don’t really enjoy. Also money can be a nice benefit for sure, but should never be the main impetus for any field. It’s just not worth it if it means spending your time doing something you do not enjoy, or even worse actually hate. Nursing isn’t easy. And quality patient care is so vitally important but I would imagine being difficult to give if your heart wasn’t really in it. If you feel you would enjoy the medical field, go for it. If you think you wouldn’t, find something else you’ll really love doing and spending your days on. 😄

Then they take long to approve the site -up to 6 months! And some sites need an affiliation. I live in Los Angeles and almost all places need an affiliation. Meanwhile, you’re paying for the term and you can’t even start. IT’S A MONEY GRABBING SCAM!
