This is from someone who doesn't understand Hebrew. "Ba'al" is a Hebrew word that means master. Yes, there was a god called Baal, but that's like saying there was a god called the "Sun God' so you can't use the word 'Sun' in any other context. Baal Teshuva literallly means 'mastering repentance' and has nothing to do with the 'Baal' the god.
