This film is intelligent farce, which is why it's so good; yes it's practically entirely reliant on stereotypical tropes but it isn't done to drag down the thing; clearly the writers recognized the tropes enough that they can use them without underestimating the audience's intelligence of whether they get the references or not, so thankfully no forced fourth-wall breaking here.
