Thanks for the visit to Webster Creek and happy to have my favorite comic book you tuber in the store. Considering this came out today, we will be open this weekend from 12pm-6pm. Mention LunchMoneyComics and get an additional 10% off!
Love me some Darwyn Cooke. That mill looks like an amazing setting for a comic shop. I love digging through bargain bins looking for hidden treasures and interesting stuff to read.
DC the new frontier by Dawyn Cooke might be my favorite DC story. The writing is great and the way he integrated both well and unknown character from all over DC unvierse is incredible.
I love that Lord of the Rings movie. I saw it in the theater when it was released. The Ringwraiths were really cool. I always wanted a part 2 to be done! Of course the Peter Jackson trilogy isa game changer! Cool book pick up.
By the way that comic at 16:55 you can use a straight razor blade to get that price tag off just go super slow up and down I removed a lot of them without damaging the books.
I have to tell you that when I was in elementary school 1980, 81, they had I believe 16mm film version of LoTR, and both Rankin-Bass cartoons of Hobbit, and Return. Once a year, we got to watch all three, projected in class. Actual film reels and a projector 📽️. Long before VCRs were commonplace. 😮😮
Ah Madame Xanadu! I have just started to hunt for that series. The story by Matt Wagner caught my eye and I heard about the artist Amy Reader Hadley recently which sent me on the hunt for sure! Looks like this was a great place to hunt! Nice pickups Mike!
Congrats on the Two-In One! I recently completed that run. As a huge FF/Thing fan, this is a must buy series that's not too hard to complete. :) That was a really neat store. I wish there were things like that in my area (Memphis). I'm thankful we do have a few comic stores and several cons here though.
I am chasing every Darwyn Cooke cover, it’s my current obsession. Ben has great taste because Darwyn was an absolute modern master. His design sense, timeless style, and writing chops put him head and shoulders above any other modern creator in my book. Gone too soon!
I love Darwyn Cooke. He left us too soon. I only have issue 1 of his run on The Spirit, but he also did a one-shot crossover with The Spirit and Batman. I also love his Justice League story. So many great grabs here, but I'm giving top place to The Lord of the Rings. I love the books, the Peter Jackson films, and I'll admit it, I really dig the animated film. So cool, Mike.
Currently collecting Darwyn Cooke variant covers which DC had back in 2016. Had a few back then of what I was buying at the time. He came to Montreal Comic Con and signed a few for me. A few months later, he passed away. And believe it or not, I actually saw the LOTR animated movie when it was released in theaters. Yeah I'm ancient. I don't remember the film much in detail but I still recognize that movie poster.
Great to see Marvel's Kull The Destroyer #1 graded. Madame Xanadu by Matt Wagner and Amy Reeder is a fantastic series that deserved to have lasted much longer than it did. How could you not get the issue of Combat on JFK's story as commander of the PT 109. Incidentally, his daughter Caroline is about to finish her time here as US ambassador to Australia and she has been a great ambassador. Rich Buckler's Luther Manning Deathlok stories from Astonishing Tales are superb, they really need an Epic Collection from Marvel. Rank and Bass, names that evoke wonderful childhood memories. Anything Steranko: every day, all the time.
I have a question about that mars comic what is it a homage too? I can't think of the comic at all and love the content and showing us all the unusual places to find comic books at.
That Two-In-One #75 is a great book, but my favorite pick up was the LOTR mag. Also, Rankin and Bass were known for stop motion animation with dolls, not claymation.
There was a hardcover book of the Lord of the Rings too with a book jacket on it that had the movie pictures in it. I used to draw pictures from it when I was younger unfortunately I have the book jacket but not the book and it isn’t that pricey but it is cool like the magazine.
This place reminds me of a mill i used to work at in Uxbridge MA, called Bernat Mill. Sadly, it burnt down but, those memories started flooding back. Nice shop and finds!
The Ralph Bakshi movie of LOTR was fricken Awesome !!! :) Loved it as a kid. I gotta find that mag. I have the hardcover Children's Book adaptation with stills from the movie.
@@grios5530 you are correct and believe it or not, that was actually the gift I got Ben! Didn’t show or mention it because I gave it to him right at the shop and it’s slightly racy lol
That was the parody book called Skin Thirteen. The Janet Jackson cover is by J Scott Campbell is issue 1 of the series variant. The parody book is a $10 book so not much value.

The LOTR adaptation is an awesome find Mike. Congrats, and thanks for sharing your video!

I think you should give Jonah Hex a try some time! It's an excellent series, very serious and mature with some outstanding art. Love your videos Mike!

I was hoping you grabbed the Lord of the Rings book. You did not disappoint. Well done my friend!
That LOTR magazine is fantastic! Congrats on that one!

I think this Caleb guy has some really good taste, should we try to get Mike into the Parker series by Cooke, too??
Thanks for your channel. I actually got a discount using your channel name, just said heard about your shop by watching LMC.
@@ractsninjas oh wow! May I ask which store?

This was so cool, such a fun video
Good stuff

Thanks for sharing. Cool .50 books.
Darwyn Cooke was a great writer. I have DC The New Frontier. Great books
Darwyn Cooke was the GOAT - all his stuff is amazing. Gone way too soon.
I wouldn't call any artist the GOAT(too subjective) that written, Cooke's style is definitely timeless.
At 19:25 Deathlok first appeared in Agents of Shield in the 'Project Deathlok' episode.
Nice review.

Great store bought a Miss Marvel #1 from him a few weeks ago.
Those places are awesome. we have a place like that here in WNY. I seen that Ghost Rider masterpiece ... that would have been my fav!
I have a question about that mars comic what is it a homage too? I can't think of the comic at all and love the content and showing us all the unusual places to find comic books at.
It's basically an homage of The Forbidden Planet robot carrying the unconscious damsel in distress :) If you find out other wise please let me know!
@@BenjaminToz I thought is was a homage to batman 156 but that makes more sense with the forbidden planet instead of batman
That Two-In-One #75 is a great book, but my favorite pick up was the LOTR mag. Also, Rankin and Bass were known for stop motion animation with dolls, not claymation.
I need a copy of that LOTR mag asap!
I love that film. I grew up with that film. I would pay $50 for that too. Nice score.
Grew up in Wilton, that artist section is a great place to go beyond the comics.
There was a hardcover book of the Lord of the Rings too with a book jacket on it that had the movie pictures in it. I used to draw pictures from it when I was younger unfortunately I have the book jacket but not the book and it isn’t that pricey but it is cool like the magazine.

PS: ~and that whole other batch of books for 15 bucks or so is a perfect digging trove haul !!
I would have snagged a lot of those Tomb of Dracula books for $5 a lot of them were actually keys!
Lord of the rings is freaking amazing and of course first Cyber
I just picked up that Life & Death issue from X-Men recently.
The Nick Fury #2 has a famous panel that had to be replaced by a holster to make it less next. Very funny story.
Bakshi is amazing. American Pop is a favorite.
27:55 Marvel Age 31 first Thundercats!
That Super adaptoid character.I think I saw it as one of the wall books also. Whenever he shows up, it's always a doozy.
When you were in Portland Oregon, I am sad you missed Fallout Comics. It would blow your mind.
Awesome Nick Fury for $20😮
I liked the Mars series from 1980s...short run. Would like a small shop to look through like that ...
Oh man, tell him to send you that Gen13 Janet Jackson cover! 😅

Don’t know anyone that is into pop culture, sci fi, fantasy, comics etc that doesn’t know about or like the animated Bakshi LOTR. It’s awesome
The 50 cent box had a lot of keys. Not the best condition but the first Omega Red was a Newstand!
