If you feel the need to build a new engine, there is absolutely no reason to resist. Go for it. BTW, nice shaper tool. With that one you can make everything:)
Great work so far :) I made a new engine frame for my 512/3 I started from flat bar stock and then bent it round afterwards was easier than making it from tube. Then welded the other pieces together. Thankfully I had the 2smaller versions to copy parts from and many pictures and measurements from a friend’s compete engine.
I love watching you working on projects like this. "Scraptonium"🤣Where exactly is that on the periodic table?😁 It is so satisfying to see the various parts emerge from solid stock. It's also satisfying to see how you come up with solutions for the inevitable problems encountered. 11:12 Nice Hercules 3-speed (?) you have there. Wouldn't mind seeing more of it.😉
Super job well done ,I have done similar with a carrette overtype but did have the basics to start. How did you find the drawings & are they available anywhere now. Will look to see how this job progresses .regards Trevstintoys
Wow that sounds like a big job, too! I made the drawings myself, deriving measurements with a ruler from pictures online. If you want, I can email you the plans for this machine once I'm done, for the moment I'll keep them for myself because I might have to make changes during the build.

I did a little series on the bike when I got it - It's probably 5 years back and the quality isn't the best, but I can offer you that for now
