日本の歌はいつもアニメOSTみたいな感じだよ。 2020年代に出たグループも、 結局韓国で練習した練習生たちだったし。
초기에는 둘 다 비슷해보이는데 이후로 갈 수록 달라지네요. KPOP의 경우 속도감과 동작의 일치, 그리고 발성에서 일본과 점점 차이가 있고 주제도 귀여움에서 섹시함으로 진화되었네요.

I feel like the main thing for me is that sometimes j-pop is stuck in the past, it's changing nowadays according to the demand of younger audiences and what's "popular" but kpop had major shifts before jpop and it feels like they began similar but now are completely different things. It's interesting to make comparisons since tbe industries have shifted along the years...
I wouldn't say jpop is stuck in the past, but rather that japanese music was less influenced by the western style. They have their own style and that's what they do, while kpop songs kept becoming more and more similar to western pop
@@fla9086 yeah I agree, it's just that a lot of the J-pop sounds and influences sounds dated to me (a westerner) while k-pop involved alongside with the west in terms of trends and production. It's just different ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just comes down to preference 👍 :)

I used to love Jpop back in the day but I think the overall quality got lower after the 48 groups started showing up. Everything became cheaper after that, I guess the industry was just struggling to keep up with the hundreds of idols and songs coming out. I’m glad to see that they’re starting to pick up in quality again, I just hope they’ll start investing in proper vocal training instead of the chorus of undertrained girls struggling to sound as high-pitched even when it’s out of their vocal range.

i think lot idols groups have not high-pitched voice (or only some member but ) like Philosophy no dance, Wagamama rakia, CYNHN, Neo japonism, Kannagi rabbits
If you're listening to HP/Sakamichi/48s, you're not going to get any quality - just forget about it. The quality comes with groups like Babymetal, Philosophy No Dance, Little Glee Monster, Atarashi Gakko and the various LDH/Avex groups.

@@imamoronbut5469 I don’t know if it’s taboo but apparently they believe that fans supposedly root for the “underdogs” that are perceived to work hard rather than the talented people. Doesn’t make sense to me but then again, I guess the idol market is only 10% their music and 90% how well they manage to ensnare fans to milk them of their money.

It seems to me that they are completely different in vibe. K-Pop is edgy and J-Pop seems cute.

Yes, this is basically just idol music.
J-pop is way more than that. Frankly, idols are much more than that. Male boy groups tend to be more rugged or princely, K-pop idols are a bit of a happy medium that may not have been able to exist easily in Japan as the boy group companies tried to stay in their own lane rather than look like they were trying to fight. Girl idols aren't all cute- a few of the more popular ones now are punk rock inspired or screamo or "land mine".. if a group is being edgy it'll usually do so that way rather than with girl crush concept.
But idols are mainstream. As is a bunch of other stuff. That's just normal for Japan. Some things go a little more in and out of favor, but there's almost always an incongruous mess of genres near the top including some idols- people tend to follow one or several of the various wings of J-pop further down out of the most mainstream rather than just follow the full breadth of the most popular stuff. It's just too broad for most people.
not all, a group in Jpop called Keyakizaka46 was never cute instead their music ais beloved by all ages in Japan (even Rockers & Rock fans) because of their meaningful songs and live performances like:
"Silent Majority" = about Politics | politics in school, politics in gov., etc
"Fukyouwaon" = refusal in agreeing if things aren't right even if your friends become your enemy (Twice's Jihyo, Sana, & Momo loves this song/ HKT48|IZ*ONE's Sakura * Nako performed this song also)
"Garasu wo Ware" = using the metaphor of a "dog" to describe a person who is a blind follower
"Eccentric" = about people who don't mind being called a weirdo coz the person refused to follow the norm
"Kuroi Hitsuji" = about people who are called a black sheep by the society
"Getsuyoubi no Asa, Skirt wo Kirareta" = about student's sexual harassments
"Student Dance" = about student's prostitution
"Hiraishin" = about family & friends who tries to understand the p.o.v. of a suicidal person
and that's just some of their music, they have a lot

한국의 노래는 4년 간격으로 변함.
2009년부터 2012년까지는 진한 화장과 화려한 의상과 무대 때문에 아티스트한 집중이 잘 안됨.
그런데 2013부터 2016년부턴 영상의 화질이나 퀄리티가 높아지고, 의상들이나 영상, 무대들이 화려함보단 조화가 중요시됨. 그리고 안무 난이도가 많이 올라감.
2017년부터 2020년사이는 그룹마다의 컨셉이 생기고 영상이 뮤직비디오란 느낌보다 짧은 영화를 보는것같은 스토리 라인이 있음.
현재 2021년부터 많은 그룹들이 해외진출을 위해 영어로된 노래를 많이 내고 있다.

韓国男性アイドルって兵役あるし、男性に限らず韓国アイドル業界は色々問題あるのに、グループの過半数が残ってる状態で結構初期から現在までカムバし続けてるスーパージュニアガチですごいな。
Kpop seems to have evolved it's sound, genre diversity and overall video production quality faster and in bigger leaps than jpop (obviously, there are exceptions w/ in jpop). Coincidentally, watching this after watching XG's debut mv, which is great and everyone should stream it!
Gaaaaah, and now I'm gonna have Pineapple Pen stuck in my head for the rest of the day. 😭
Video quality is definitely better for K-pop. That's because they see it as one of the major prongs of their promotion in a comeback, while J-pop often doesn't even release the MV until the song has been performed at their concerts for months already. Historically, it was pretty much just made as a perk for fans who bought physicals. Even now it's usually an afterthought. I will however say that the movement in K-pop videos is over the top and I still think is going to look dated AF once they figure out how to use it more subtly. But the Japanese stuff that earnestly copies it is so shitty it's almost meme level motion sickness.
Other two areas you mentioned I'll give to J-pop though, with the issue mainly being the selection here. Variety is J-pop's strongest point.
Basically, this is zoomed in too tightly. It's a major battleground area for K-pop so you can see each company bring their A game and change it up. Most of J-pop isn't even fighting in the range that this video mostly focuses on.
XG is intentionally for global audience

@@redfish337 because this entire list compares idol groups and not the actual people running the jpop / jrock/etc scene. Idol groups are outdated and started to be taken out at around 2015's in jpop. Jpop's big hitters are now solo artists and bands that only have 1 singer. Honestly comparing kpop and jpop is dumb because they're 2 different things entirely. This specific video tried comparing a small minority of jpop to kpops main music (idol groups and boy bands) when thats like 1/50th of all of jpop subgenres. Jpop beats kpop in any other variety/genre, but kpop beats jpop in this specific insignificant genre of music involving bands and dancing.

Cuando inicie con el jpop mi primer grupo fue Tegomassu sus voces melodiosas después fue Hey Say Jump.. Pero los que me engacharon en el Jpop, fue KAT-TUN tenían sus músicas mezcladas con beat box, rap, hip hop, pop, rock y r&b, las composiciones de músicas que ellos hacían increíbles. Con NewS fue flechazo con el tema Cherish. Después me meti al kpop y ahora que pasaron casi 14 años de debut de Hey Say Jump decidi ponerme al día con ellos, puedo decirte que evolucionaron bastante vocalmente en especial Yamada Ryosuke.
El jpop más se basa en sacar a sus idols a edades tempranas para que estos adquieran experiencias en los escenarios y que el público sientan ese contacto con ellos y verlos evolucionar de poco a poco.

전통을 중시 하다 보니 새로운걸 시도하는걸 꺼려 하는 일본의 성향이 JPOP 의 정체에 영향을 끼친게 아닌가 싶긴 하네요. 한국은 워낙 내수시장이 좁다 보니 해외 시장을 목표로 좀 새로운 장르나 이미지로 계속 진화 하는 느낌이고.. 특히 KPOP 여성 그룹들이 시간이 지나면서 걸크러쉬 취향으로 나가는데 일본은 그냥 소녀소녀한 이미지를 유지 하는게 좀 다르긴 하네요.

This video illustrates why I don't like to really listen to jpop anymore (I still like Perfume but their sound has always sounded futuristic so it's timeless). I used to be a big jpop fan but over time it felt like jpop wasn't innovating. Not to mention that jpop these days is dominated by idols with very little training -- cuteness is prioritized over anything else. It's no wonder that so many former jpop fans moved to kpop or seiyuu (voice actor) music. Kpop feels fresh every year. I can look at kpop over the years and see clearly defined eras and recognize the style of specific producers and entertainment companies. All the talent in Japanese music is from indie producers, rappers, rock bands, etc. I think kpop may have taken off in Japan because it offers that fresh sound as an alternative. The 2018 and later Japanese productions in this video even show how male idol groups have gravitated toward a kpop-sounding style, so maybe female idol fans in Japan want something different too. It's also telling how kpop is now full of Japanese members, and how kpop companies are launching jpop groups that retain the kpop sound.
Same I used to be AKB48 fan but gets bored. I'm still in Jpop though but not in idol music category. I'm now into vocaloid, utaite, and indie artists which I think their works are artful and unique. I tried kpop but it's just too poppy and generic to me compared to Jpop which full of instruments harmonization. They have good vocal and dance but personally I am more attracted to unified instruments than those aspect.
both jpop and kpop are the same, both are generic, most of jpop, especially idol groups, have a generic concept (school idols and cute), on the other hand, kpop has generic melodies, most of kpop song has similar melody and seems monotonous (upbeat music with rap). But with all these generic things, each still has its advantages, jpop with their diverse melodies, and kpop with their unique concepts.

I grew up on j-pop but at some point when I became about 13 or so, I shifted to K-Pop because I thought the music and the videos were so different than what I'd seen over and over again for J-pop. They always had a similar formula and, comparing it to K-pop it just started losing its appeal for me. Now that Japan is opening their doors more, Im starting to get back into their music.

Fr in the beginning you could barely find any J-pop stuff on the Internet unless you were a Japanese person in Japan. It was the same way for K-pop in the beginning as well but they found how to make their stuff more accessible.

k-popはアイドルとアーティストの基準が明確ではないけど、j-popはアイドル→キャッチーな曲（実力より愛嬌）、アーティスト→実力が大切っていう差があるから、vs表記だと日本の曲選ぶの大変そう。
あと、j-popはマイナーな曲（ファンしか知らない）多いですね…
Yeah, just show idols so that people think k-pop is far superior to j-pop. Never show someone like Hikaru Utada or some other soloists who are more popular than idols in Japan. I'm sick of Koreans and k-pop fans making these videos that only include idols.
There's also amazing KPop musicians who don't do idol music. And these videos are mostly done by Japanese and JPop fans who want the attention and love KPop gets so they associate them together. KPop doesn't need comparison to be relevant.

日本って音楽市場のランキングで世界2位だし、J-POPがK-POPみたいにダンスミュージックにならなかったのには国内市場で充分足りてしまったって言う説聞いて確かにそうかもなぁて思うようになった。実際日本のアイドルもバンドもあんま海外に行かないもんね。国内の市場がそもそもでかいから売り上げ作れるし。逆に韓国のアイドルとかが日本でもデビューしたり定期的にカムバしてんのはその市場宛なんだろうなぁてね。
저는 개인적으로 일본의 고령화가 본격적으로 진행된 이후로 음악이 정체되었다고 느꼈습니다. 한국도 고령화가 빠르게 진행되고 있으므로 한국 내의 주류 음악이 kpop에서 다른 장르로 바뀌고 있는게 느껴지고 앞으로는 전체 연령이 더 낮고 개발속도가 빠른 베트남이나 인도네시아에서 V-pop, I-pop등이 유행할 가능성이 높다고 생각합니다.

また、jpopは変わらない、多様性が無いと言ってる方が多いですがこの動画だけを見て決めてるのなら辞めてください。

I've been waiting for a comparison like this 💯
And my main thought about it stays true : Japan and Korea were killing the pop music game in 2006-2007 compared to Western pop. So ahead, but it wasn't appreciated then. Now amazing production values keep borrowing from each other across oceans, but for a long time J-Pop and then with K-Pop's rise, they've still been far ahead with concepts and song structures than Western pop could do. Early 10s, the only mainstream one who could probably compete was Lady Gaga. Before that was just...nobody willing to shake things up, and a bunch of autotune rap took over. Korea even managed to make autotune sound good in K-Pop too. Only realized and respected in hindsight...

I love japanese culture, I study japanese, but I can’t take japanese pop music seriously, I like another artists not like the idol type li Fujii Kaze and Lisa, but the pop idol culture in japan is too weird for me, it seems like a parody, kpop seems to be more mature
All that stuff is J-pop too. R&B, rock, eurobeat, jazz, etc influenced stuff are all part of it.
Anyway, that you feel like you can't take the idol music seriously, means you're probably taking the idol music too seriously.
Some of it actually is serious... like say some Maison Book Girl stuff, but that'd be hard to not take seriously.
Female idols have stuff like catch phrases and member colors- they're clearly inspired by stuff like Magical Girl and Super Sentai.
I've gone to LiSA on the very same day I've been to an idol show.
Both were good. She's definitely more talented. But it was 4 times the cost at maybe half the length and 50 times the distance.
If you're not actually going to their lives, doing their meet and greets and such... then you're not actually getting the intended experience that they're selling.
@@redfish337 I mean I know Idol culture is kinda silly, but when it comes to japan, the things seems to be like a parody, it doesn’t have the mature to be taken seriously. I like lisa, fujii kaze, yoasobi and many others because they seem to be normal people and not taken from any comedy anime, I think NiZiu is doing a good job maturing the idol standart in japan, cmon we’re people in our 20’s you dont need to play the childish innocent girl wearing monkey ears for me…
What is mature? I think it's very subjective 😅
But a lot idols groups are different of "cute girl innocent" style but they're not popular :

I see a much bigger difference in quality than maturity. That's ultimately what matters if you're pro.
