I have a 2005 GL1800 Goldwing and I ride a lot .by the way I love your videos, so lets get to my point I DARK SIDE.
and my bike rides even better with the car tire than the MC tire so keep up the good work with your videos.

Double dark side isn't 2 car tyres its when u move the rear bike tyre to the front and a car tyre on back. Chris caliente does it on his goldwing.

Progressive stated no issues with motorcycles using car tires. I called a month later and spoke to a different person at Progressive. Same reply. They dont care if car or motorcycle tire here in California

Double dark side is not two car tires. It’s a car tire on back and a rear motorcycle tire on the front.

U nailed it most who disapprove of bike hacks don't ride daily, i personally wouldn't darkside certain bikes however it's the ticket on heavy bikes.

Like you, the cost of MC tires and visibly watching them wear down every 200 miles, kills me. If riders only ride a couple thousand miles a year, they shouldn't go DS. Tires time out about every 4 years anyway.

I watched another video showing the bead design is different between car/motorcycle tires/rims. That seems to be the concern about beads popping off. It could well be that rim/tire size will make a difference to bead lock. As well as tire pressure. Tire installation lubricant used. Whether or not the customer tried a burnout too soon before the bead had properly seated. This happens with car tires if the customer tries a burnout on the way out of the parking lot with their new rubber.

It's more than that. it's the tire compound, carcass flex and all sorts of stuff. Motorcycles don't turn, they lean. Car tires don't lean, they turn.
Two completely different designs and applications. A car has anti-sway bars and negative camber to ensure that the flat side always stays down and planted.
Put it on a bike and go in a turn and now you are half on the sidewall of the tire which it is NOT designed to do, and is a bad idea...
That they get away with it, is because they are slow riders sticking largely to interstates... And even when I watch videos of them in the turns, most of them have to slow down and are not even at the speed limit, let alone running a fast pace...

And a lot accidents are because the rider is going too fast.

@@Mrdisel4life Tell me, what is the smart thing about intentionally using the wrong tire for your motorcycle?
      [crickets]
There is no answer other than, "Saving money" or "I am not going to cave in to the evil tire cartels or what the people who designed the motorcycle tell me"...
Basically being poor/cheap, or being a conspiracy theorist, are the reasons for Dark Siding.

Is exactly the same reaon you risk your life and other people's lifes when you speed on public roads: BECAUSE I WANT.
The same reason people smoke, eat like pigs, play extreme sports or have unprotected sex. Because we are in a free country and most of the times we are free to do things we WANT.

@@Mrdisel4life Yeah, but what if what you want, is stupid?
Using the correct equipment for the job is always smart, whether you ride fast or slow.
Just because you can do something, doesn't mean that you should. I ask again, if you get in a wreck, will you be telling your insurance company that you were riding on car tires? Yes or no.

I have 7,000 miles on my car tire on my ctx700 and I run 26 psi, it a better more stable ride than a motorcycle tire and I feel safer. For me I will not be Going back to a motorcycle tire.

I just converted my Bike to a trike and I was thinking of changing my front tire to a car tire as now I dont need the round bike tire. A car tire would be a much better choice. What to you think?

I just try a firehawk indy 500, 215/55 R17 on my 2006 Yamaha Stratoliner, it took me 60 Km to get use to it,
The day after i went slalom left right and U-turn as before
This tire was for trying, it is not the best thing as it is no symmetrical (but did not feel it)
    Will install a Toyo extensa

Never mind legal, what about what insurance companies will say when a darksided bike is involved in an accident with non-recommended equipment (the tire) fitted. will they be difficult? I expect so.

I did a video about that. It depends on the country. In the U.S. it's completely legal.
