I know gens 1 - 5 did not. I cant remember if gen 6 did. I know from gen 7 it was a thing though.

Your whole "ive only known him 5 mins but if anything happens to him" is a parody of the actual trope which has existed in multiple animes before the term "meme" was even a thing... take episode 1 of pokemon for example (which existed before memes were a thing) where ash sacrificed himself for pikachu and tried to challenge every pokemon to ever exist.

My head canon is that miraidon is a recreation based on the fossils of koraidon.
The creators thought the sacks on koraidons neck were actually for transport, so they made their miraidon have wheels.

I’m so excited the legendaries are LIZARDS! But now I only say lizard the way he does.
With hindsight now that I know the ending, the Team Star grunts trying to recuit penny is way more hilarious than it should be.
Although, also in hindsight, it really makes me wonder how they joined with their attitude as it is.

Whenever I'm frustrated by the catching tutorial or the interruptions during the rival battle, I try to remind myself that every pokemon game is someone's first pokemon game. I played Blue when I was 6, and was very confused at the start lol
Maybe but sw/sh made it a non issue since you could catch something before the tutorial and that would skip it so if you needed to learn or just a refresher you could just not catch anything at first
Then make it optional lmao
People forget that Pokemon games are made for everybody, not just for people who studied Pokemon way too hard and know every ability and move and type advantage

I always feel so so so so bad for the starter pokemon who aren't chosen, I cant imagine their feelings but they must feel so excluded, weak, unwanted, unuseful.

Ever heard of the Let's Player's Curse? Well this is the counterpart to that. The Let's Play Viewer's Curse.
The opening cinematic makes more sense with Miraidon because when it’s eyes half-close it looks like Miraidon is powering down, but when Koraidon does it, it just looks like he’s just looking at the academy disappointingly.

MandJTV and PM7 are the epitome of what these two games are based on 😂 MandJTV plays Pokémon Scarlet, based on the past and tradition, and takes things the more traditional route by not streaming whilst PM7 plays Violet, which is based on the future, and embraces the streaming .
The John Michael’s are absolutely the best duo and have proved it with their choice of games 😂

The facial expressions of Koraidon in the first couple scenes was AMAZING. Top tier, 100% what i wanna see from the franchise going forward. Just that small bit of detail was so good!
Scarlet and violet is so much more fun to watch than other games because you can see what order other people play the game

The more I use meowsquerade the more I love it. I like that while it does stand up, it isn't as over the top furry as the others before it and the signature is definitely something to behold. Also the idea they were going for with the starters as all play a big part of southern Island festivals, masquerades, songs of passion, and endless mystical dancing!
Honestly the long character creation being described as incredibly worth it? Incredibly based. It’s fun to make characters using character creators in my opinion.
I’m glad the Pokémon company is keeping up the theme of the professor hooking up with the protagonists mom😂

I picked Sprigatito, not knowing the final evolutions. Though I love my grassy cat. I feel like there was some inspiration from Puss in Boots. I can imagine the second stage in large boots with a smooth Spanish accent, marked with a Spanish guitar riff.
Same here. I was quite disappointed that they stand up, but honestly I've fallen in love with the design and movement. Plus meowscarada has the most cracked signature move ever. Guaranteed crit and hit? Plus stab?
As much as I would have loved a sabertooth tiger or smth, I still think it's the best starter, with skeledierge being second.

My first play through I chose Sprigatito. I loved her. And now, I just finished my second play through, and Meowscarada is still officially my favorite starter. And so far one of my favorite grass starters. Absolutely love her.
It is the best florageto is awesome and it starts as a cute weed cat turning into a teen and finally a hot spooky cat
I def chose spriggy, I think I named it "grassy" or "leafy" and I love him so much.
On top of that I love how meowscarada looks like it’s depressed, having fun, and shy at the same time. Kinda like me

It makes sense for why nemona chooses the weak starter the most, she loves a good challenge, and choosing the weak starter makes it more difficult for her, all for a incredibly exhilarating battle

At first, I wasn't interested in Scarlet or Koraidon, but upon actually playing it, I've fallen in love th Koraidon and his behaviours/antics. Reminds me of toothless, and I love it. ❤

Koridon is my FAV legon of all time now. the facial expressions, the backstory, design its all amazing! He is just a swwet baby who loves sammies!

Fuecoco immediately stole my heart when I saw it, it’s a cute, goofy crocodile boi who just wants to eat which that last part is very relatable. I also have only made it to his mid stage as of now and I think it’s pretty goofy but I love it for that reason
Also, the final form is, at least in my opinion, very cool.
As someone who has seen fuecoco and it's evo's, I can confirm, definitely my second fav

I love how detailed the customization is. This is the first game I played that has the option for the mole above the lip which is a noticeable feature on my face and I was way more excited than I should have lol
The story writing in this game is so good.

Hey Mikey, you should do a playthrough of Scarlet as Grunty Boi. He gets a call from Giovanni telling him he'll never move up in rank until he proves his intelligence, so Giovanni is sending Grunty Boi to Paldea to go to school. Maybe add an admin woman to pose as Grunty Boi's mother to make sense of that and more easily pass him off as a student?
Having Violet, Michael doing his Scarlet journey feels like a side story.

I love the Sprig evo line. I also like the fact the first few gyms are tougher for a grass starter. Usually in most gens grass makes early game much much easier.

I always name myself Richard (but shortened) because it is funny to hear npcs go “AH! Dick” or for the a very slim chance that the mum will say something like in sun and moon at the fighting festival “there goes my little dick”
Your voice acting is giving the characters (specially Nemona) quite a personality that I didn't really discover during my playthrough, thanks for that! 🙂🙂

I love the intro to this game. It's kind of slow but I love the story progression in the first hour or so.

The way Quaxly had "Holmes, no. It's. Not. Edible. We're eating later, that is a brick now." vibes both gives me the impression that Fuecoco regularly derps in at around everything but Quaxly is inured/used to it now, & makes me laugh every playthrough. It's so good. But I think people hated or were impassive with Quaxly's basic & 1st evolutions were bc they're self absorbed a-holes by design & Dex.
Recently escaped a "volunteer" organization that coerced me to work 13+ hour days for five years with no time for fun.
I'm so glad one of my favorite games, pokemon, has grown as a franchise, and for videos like this! I'm so behind. Michael, thank you for helping me catch up to modern day pokemon.
It's nice to have at least one space to be positive about this game tbh. Can't wait to see more.

Everytime I see Koraidon on action/cut scenes gives me chills and the more Iook at its feathers the cooler it gets 4 some reason

Like all the other 3D switch Pokémon games this game looks pretty good. I do like how Sword and Shield look more as the colours pop a little more with the outlines and vibrancy

I love that this is both entertaining and long form but with the down time cut out. A good balance! And I laughed out loud a few times too
I originally really disliked Meowscarada's form, but I still picked Sprigatito as I nicknamed her (First time female Starter, and first ever Nickname) after my cat.
I wasn't looking forward to the evolution, but after having the 2nd for a while, I had kinda gotten used to a bipedal cat.
But it was especially after learning the Signature Move, Meowscarada slowly became my favorite of the 3.
There's a chance, having her named after my cat helped with the bias lol

I'm happy to see Mikey finally upload his playthrough. All of my other favorite poketubers started their playthroughs and I was just waiting on him. I got my game yesterday so people like Luke and Dylan are now ahead of me and I like having someone to play along with in a sense and avoid later spoilers

I waited so long to start this. i just finished the main story, and today is my day off! Time to binge!
I'm glad someone else noticed the hazel eye option! Now that you mention it, yeah, it doesn't look totally hazel but I was just so excited that it was an option (as I have hazel eyes IRL) that I went for it. Totally didn't see those bottom options though!
I went for the denim blue hair cause it looked cool. (Maybe cause I'm playing Violet right now). I had mine in "space buns" but then I realized the hat covered it up so I changed it.
So the character moving slow at first wasn't just me! I found that SO annoying.
I think you can change your hair style whenever but you have to go to a salon to change the color.
