I don't know if he saw this, there's a really cool Easter egg in the school library area. One of the readable books is titled "Galar: A History" and talks about how the Stow-on-Side mural was destroyed, but revealed the Zacian and Zamazenta statues. This was the book that Sonia wrote during the post-game of Sword and Shield, and it actually manged to become part of a school library in a different region. That's really cool!

I didn’t even know you could battle them, I found the first 10 sleeping lol
I had a armarouge before the first gym, easy
I did the bug gym first. I caught the bird form Kalos. And then I set the bugs and plants on fire. Because bird. But I also trained a lot more than Mikey before I went anywhere. I have 4 Titans, 2 Star bases and 4 gyms under my belt now. And i have birds. So many birds! And my pink sheep. I found a shiny mareep during my first day of playing the game. I benched itnow, because it's fully evolved. Shinies are great, but I just can't stand the pink Ampharos. I hope I can find a shiny Fukano maybe. Puppy!

I loved Mikey's reaction to Clodsire. I had basically the same reaction and now Jean-Clod the Clodsire is my 2nd favourite pokemon and the permament member of my team.
I love that Mikey didn't realize that Brassius is actually the 2nd gym and there's no level scaling (which they should've implement)
Yeah, I didn't know that there was no level scaling so I rolled up to Katy with a Naclstack after defeating Mela
I went through that with Grusha. Despite them actually being the “sixth” Gym Leader they felt like the 8th due to their levels.

Arven is Gold, I unlocked _all_ the Travel Mode Abilities before even doing _any_ of the Gyms. It was incredible but sadly I only recorded from when I did 2 of the Gyms; Brassius and the the Bug one at Cortondo.
Still, it's pretty weird seeing a player have _full_ access to the (now totally Open) world of Paldea so early on.

During my playthrough, I traveled west and did the bug gym first. The next gym I did was the water gym where the leader's pokemon where in their late 20's, the I arrived at the grass gym with my pokemon in the mid 30's. It's hilarious seeing Mikey struggle when I ohko'd everything with flamethrower.

I personally adore the pictures taken alongside the badges in this game. It just keeps the theme of this being a journey and you’re taking pictures to remember it by.

Literally yesterday I found a shiny shinx that unrendered when I got a call from Arven. I thought it had despawned, but it rerendered as soon as the call finished. What a relief...

Bro the hammer Pokémon (Tikatink) final evolution is soooo good! Thry get a 100 accuracy, 160 damage steel type move that the only drawback is it can’t be used twice + it’s surprisingly fast.
It disappointed me when he didn't bother use Tinkatink in the slightest. Even when it would greatly benefit, didn't even notice it.
I used it as soon as I saw it. It is amazingly great and I haven't gotten the final evo yet.

I'm loving this game so far, also I did not know you could get Charcadet near the Klawf titan, I got mine after beating the fire team star base (anyone moaning about spoilers, the fire team star boss was teased in the trailers)
On top of it being teased in trailers, it's forced onto your map within the first hour and a half of play time.
I couldn’t find one out East (I tried for like an hour), but there’s a guaranteed spawn a little ways outside of Cortondo.
Well I learned the hard way that it wasn't supposed to be the first one.
You can find charcadet in like half the areas it’s just rare.

Some of the new moves (especially signature ones) are truly insane.
Like... 200 Base Power multi-attack move on a Pokemon who not only gains STAB from it but also possesses Technician (bringing the total BP to astounding 450). At least it's a Normal-type attack, so no supereffective damage (but even neutral hits will hurt like hell)
Or that 160 BP, 100% Accurate Steel-type attack with the only drawback being build-in single-turn Torment.
Or base 70 BP always-hitting Grass-type attack which always crits.

the canyon at 21:29 is where i found my first ever charcadet and it was shiny, i went absolutely ballistic. first ever full odds shiny in a mainline pokemon game

Clodsire: Shush you bearded child, I am the God of WALLS, how DARE you speak such evil upon my name
He changed Clodsire for Toedscruel later because the latter had higher BST, which pretty much shows his amateurship in actual Pokemon battling. As I've compared both Pokemon, I already knew Clodsire would better competitive Pokemon. Better typing (which matches up well with Water Absorb), and while BST is middling at best, it is greatly distributed.
Meanwhile Toedscruel has awful defensively typing, mediocre Abilities (Mycelium Might isn't as good as one would think because many Abilities that were supposed to be ignored, still activate in-between turns to nivelate effects of the applied status moves), and I believe attacking moveset is rather shallow as well. Plus, the offensive capabilities of Clodsire are on compatible level, just with much better moveset.
And I was right... but, my God, Clodsire is doing SO WELL, even better than I anticipated.
I thought it'd land in UU, being a tier's staple, with occasional appearances in OU, with a chance of landing in borderline. But... it's a true OU Pokemon, with the same "level of usefulness" as Garchomp?! Wow!
Meanwhile Toedscruel is in UU, and tier is full of Pokemon who could easily check Toedscruel or outright annihilate it, like Baxcalibur, Brute Bonnet, Forretress, Slither Wing, Wo-Chien... and literally any Flying Pokemon in there, and there's currently a lot of them. I wouldn't be surprised if it dropped to RU in a month or two
Part 2, LET'S GOOO! I am really excited to see where this goes!
I’ve always enjoyed watching you play all of these Pokémon games for the first time, and this one is equally amazing!
Also I wanted to mention that there’s an in-game trade where an NPC will give you a Haunter in exchange for a Pincurchin, but unlike the Gen 4 games the Haunter is NOT holding an everstone!
So you can actually get a Gengar on your team if you want, you just need to trade the required Pincurchin.
I would have loved to see his reaction if he had faced Angel the courier with all less than level 14 pokemon like im sure many players did. I was totally unaware and got horribly swept.

The ending of this game actually made me feel something to be honest.
The ending from what I watched couldve been a bit better in my opinion but its pretty good still

The ending of this game (well, of Violet) made me so sad that I couldn't bother to keep playing the postgame for a few months. Plus I somehow latched onto the AI as my favorite character and I was genuinely worried what would happen to him.

The bases are dangerous, and Cassie went ahead and alerted them all that she's sending someone to try to take them down. Element of surprised tossed right out the window.
Yeah, Cassie’s plan here was pretty bad, but that is in character for her given what we find out later in the story.
Gotta say, Clodsire is actually very good in the later game. It takes hits very well and can fire back decently

I like how not once during his travels trying to get to the mass outbreak did he consider that if the outbreak was around Pokémon higher level than him, the outbreak would be too high for him to fight/catch

Every now and then I come back here just to watch the Sunflora battle again. The smiley 5 fps flower dance and the painter jaggedly shuffling through the battle over and over is top tier comedy, even above the sell menu saga later on. 😂
I found two shinies during my first day.
The first one was a shiny mareep.
The second one was... another shiny mareep...
The gym test for the bug gym fits if you remember that dung beetles ROLL things around.
And there's a dung beetle Pokémon introduced in Gen 9 that does exactly that.
After that first titan mission, I love Arven. he’s just a goofy kid with awkward social skills who painstakingly made the player titan badges and has mommy/daddy issues depending on the game you play
Logically he would still have both considering both his parents ditched him. Even if he doesn't remember the one who left when he was a baby.

Yeah, Mikey focuses too much on raw Base Stat Total - and it shows. Distribution of those stats is just as important, and the distribution for Clodsire makes it a very bulky boi.

Bst ain't everything sometimes having the right stats in the right places is good enough. Clodsires stats are maximized for bulk which makes its 430 bst insanely misleading. The thing lives an incredible amount of hits and puts out solid utility with t spikes and has respectable damage out put with Earthquake. Clodsire is very very good in a playthrough and holds up incredibly well even into the late game
I totally agree I nearly swept an elite 4 member with a level 58 closure using t-spikes.
A good thing about scarlet and violet is that they try to “level cap” the pokemon. And it gets higher and higher every gym you beat. So you cant ridiculously catch overleveled pokemon in the open world unlike sword and shield which you can dominate the gyms by just beating raid battles 24/7 in the wild area. I would say they did a good job on this aspect.
I'm just glad my boi Tropius is in the game. Nannerbeard is the best dragon type

Honestly watching this has eased my worries a lot. I heard that the framerate was awful and, yea that's really really not a good thing but everything else looks amazing!
I've seen some where the framerate was awful but I haven't experienced that yet! But I got stuck in a flowerpot so there was that 😅
I’ve completed all 3 stories and haven’t had a single issue with framerate? The game runs at a smooth 30ish fps nearly all the time

You can still use normal stab moves since they don’t lose the stab bonus, which can lead to some fun strategies.

1:13:39 Clodsire is actually really good. The main reason its BST is so low is because of its Sp. Atk and it's Speed. Both of which it doesn't need because it's a physical attacker and it's pretty bulky. With a really god Sp. Def, respectable Def, and phenomenal health. He's been a mainstay of my team since I used it against Iono.

Nothing about this game can beat the new tera raid battles. It has Toby fox music, fast paced battle, and beautiful crystal graphics.

Michael, if you want to really grind xp on your pokemon, use the lets go feature to send them into packs of pokemon you know they can beat. For Charcadet send him into large groups of Skiddo. He'll gain so much xp and you won't have to spend all that time battling manually.
I just send them to tauros herds at East Province Area 2, those guys give a bunch of exp. and bonus EV if your mon is a phys attacker

These hour long ish videos are surprisingly very bingeable....or Mikey is just that easy to watch....maybe both 🤔 Regardless this playthrough has been really fun to watch so far! Can't wait to see you explore more of Paldea 😁
The disappointment mikey had was so relatable and funny
I caught 11 Wattrel’s before finding one with a speed boosting naive nature and volt absorb. It was such an annoying run around but my Pokémon got some good levels

1:13:49 Don't worry about Clodsire's base stat total. It's stats are pretty min maxed. It doesn't use its low spatk, and it's incredibly bulky so the low speed doesn't matter. It's great at taking special hits and decent with physical ones, plus it has two immunities with water absorb. It's type is pretty decent in general too for offense and defense. You can use your dig TM on it and you should get poison jab soon. I've been using it the whole playthrough, carried me through a lot of tough spots, and it's still useful, I just beat my 8th gym leader. It gets yawn too which is great for catching and tough opponents.

It's pretty rare, but there are a number of fixed spawns for it around the region. He simply happened to find one of those.
A suggestion for money farming, even if you don't catch the Pokemon in them doing the Raids can get you a LOT of money items to sell. Anything from Tiny Mushrooms, etc. I've gotten 3-4 Stardust from a single 1 star raid and same for pearls. So they are very worth it to do if you want to farm money in the early game!
Dont worry about Clodsire's BST too hard, Mikey. I'm still using mine and it's holding its own against the Elite Four. Fella's tanky as all hell.
I just finished all of the plots today; This game is truly amazing, funny, relatable, and so much more.

personally i had no issue with money at all during my playthrough. maybe because thanks to the perma exp all i had no need for rare candies so i sold those. also sold any item i deemed non essential including tms that my team couldn't learn and i didn't expect to have to teach any other mon. also as a completionist i tried to explore every corner of paldea (yes, every) so i got a ton of battle money and sellable items. ended my playthrough with several hundred thousand dollars, never using LP once, and having 100 of every item i deemed essential (potions, revives, balls)
