I also like how you repaired just what was needed on the floor riser rather than just replacing it. Thanks you for taking the time to capture all this on video!!!

I'm curious where a more accurate floor panel can be found? Mine CJ-5 needs both the driver and passenger side, basically the whole floor and some of the area here the pedals come through. I looked on KW and they have a complete floor, however it is not like the original. Meaning it lacks the bead and the flanged panel. It may be the same manufacturer
There are no accurate floor panels out there for your jeep. Your best option is to make it yourself or send your jeep to someone like me who can duplicate it perfectly. Everybody tells me the work I do is simple so you should be able to find someone local to help you.
@@metalshaperJeep I like the way you try to replicate the original even down to the channels. Doubtful anyone here locally can do that, maybe, but doubtful. In the process of plotting out how I'm going to proceed with the restoration. I will be in touch when get a better idea. Looking to do something along the lines of the Sierra Blue jeep you did.
I use .023" wire for most body work projects. I like to use that size wire for welding sheet metal up to 14 gauge(.074"). For anything thicker than 14 gauge up to .125" I like to use .030" or .035" wire.
beads add strength to sheetmetal parts. If you don't bead the panel and want to use a flat panel best to use a heavier gauge of steel to keep the rigidity of the panel
I like your approach to the floor indent, but not have the planisher I have always made a simple press tool that bottoms out and planishes when down to depth, but the steel needs to be locally annealed to be successful, you really need an assistant when doing these things as I find it difficult to operate the machine, and hold the panel square at the same time. Those bent top hat sections look very awkward to produce, unless one has that super shrinker that you have. Looking good !
I am trying to find someone to do the filming while I do the work. It is a real pain to set up for a film shot and not get the correct video you need. Summer will be here soon and I should be able to get my wife to do the filming while I am operating the machines.
metalshaper: That sounds like a very good idea, it is not easy working on your own with large lumps of sheet metal, and when you have to be aware of camera angles as well it becomes even more difficult, trying to keep things in shot and in focus just adds to the problem, apart from the potential to cause an accident. It must be rather like juggling !
I have been selling panels for over 25 years now. Trouble is most people are just looking for cheap, junk from overseas. One out of 10,000 people want correct parts the others will patch their jeep with stop signs.

Very well done. Brian what size wire did you use on the 18 ga metal to mig with? Also did you use same size wire to mig the snow blower Jeep floor?

Nice work I didnt know there was even suposed to be a hat channel underneth the firewall supports theyre always gone lol
That is one area that always rusts away fast. Will show you the snowblower jeep solid supports when they are done.
If you now jeeps that well why dont you make pic. and sell them ...at least they wood be right.....
