@@nick56677 Not the same thing. Scandinavians do not consider themselves European. For one thing, they're Protestant countries. Most of Europe are Roman Catholic countries. As someone who is part Swedish, I'm a better judge than you.
This is my early teens in a song. I would play and replay the song for hours and dance, dreaming about one day becoming as cool and stylish as you, guys. I love each one of you, Linn, Jonas, Jenny and Ulf. Your music made me happier and will always live in my memories. ❤️
No song defines my high school years and memories more than this one. Even though back then I was a pretty hardcore "metal head," I should not have given this song a chance at all. But it cut through all of that and won me over. And I still blast it loudly and proudly to this day.
+Dermacrosis Just because he knows what real music is and what it stands for doesnt mean he is on a high horse, this song actually takes good song writing, talent, and creativity, unlike auto tune shit nowadays that is made purely for money
14219austin Yes because there is no snide insult in that comment at all. I have seen four decades come and go musically, my mum takes it to six. Guess what? All of them have their good and bad songs. In the 90s, when he is claiming pop had "real singers" the common comment was "It is dull soulless dance music all electronic, and not real music like we had in the 80s". Ironically the 80s is when the synth realy hit its' peak. As to autotune "shit" maybe you should learn what autotune can do, and more importantly can not do, before showing your ignorance in this area. The synth and vocoder are the parents of autotune. Oh and Cher would like a word with you about her song "Believe" So tell me when is THE golden age of music? Not when you think it is but when everyone agrees it is. It never existed by the way it is the rose tinted specs effect that make us think there was one. We fogret the vast majority of bland easilly forgotten music and the dire crap and only remember fondly what we have attachments to. Every decade has been the same.
I spent my teenage years trying to act like I didn’t care for AOB because I was “alternative” Revisiting this band now at 40 I’m their biggest fan. What a truly special band this was. Linn and Jenny 😍
There's something so beautifully haunting to this tune. It's like it's trying to be as happy as it can while also remaining completely in E Minor, giving it this bittersweet timbre
It's catchy. When i went to the night clubs in my town during the 90's, each time Ace of Base was put on-it filled the dance floor, much better than the dreary Abba who's songs are about their personal life. Abba cleared the dance floor. We went out to enjoy ourselves not to listen to Abba- whom i am NOT a fan by the way. I still love Ace of Base after all these years
@@dominicbyrd2302 Abba is like a Frankenstein's monster which you can't kill. Every time i go into a pub, restaurant or shop, there's always the same bloody tunes- Mamma sodding Mia or Dancing Queen and they grate on the nerves. When the- then new Mission Impossible film hit our cinema screens it was on a double bill with Mamma Mia 2 and all i heard was wall to wall bloody Abba. I felt like smashing the album. Ace of Base knew how to FILL dance floors not empty them with their mawkish songs. I only wish Abba had LOST that damn song contest years back so we could spare our lugoles with that tripe. Now you can understand WHY i hate them.
@@simonwarner6594 That's too bad that you don't like ABBA. You belong to a tiny minority group then since pretty much everyone i know loves when an ABBA song comes on the radio or at the pub or whatever:) I have my own pet peeves groups and songs that most people but that i can't stand so i can relate to how you feel though.
This is such a perfectly written song. Its not my genre at all, but as someone who has tried to write songs myself, it's a really beautiful piece of music. If the John Lennon had released this, in his own style, nobody would question it
Shout out to all those who love Ace of Base in 2022. One of the most underrated 90’s groups in my opinion. They still have their own sound 30 years later. ❤️🔥

Fun fact: They were called Ace of Base because they were the best basement band when they were working their way up. This song could come out today and be a hit. Love this band and the cringy videos too.
I heard other stories about the name... Apparently the official one is Ulf getting inspired by a music video Ace of spades by Motorhead. The unofficial one and a pretty dark one is band being named after a nazi submarine base in Lorient. It was nicknamed "the base of the aces" by crew members or something. Altho I personally believe the first claim myself the second one makes total sense considering the fact that Ulf was a nazi skinhead as a teenager...
@@srxt6758Ulf.... isn't that the guy who sung some of the most gruesome songs about white supremacy in a punk rock band of the 80's? Commit Suicide or something? Is he in Ace of Base? I am sure there are plenty of Swedish musicians named Ulf, I must be confusing the 2.
I love this song and enjoy thems was born in 1998-07-05 . This song I heard like couple years ago but I am 25 now and this song is still giving me chills!
@alex and I think people like you are too inconvenienced by truth and reality that you like to just disregard and ignore it entirely. Ignorance is bliss 🤷🏻♀️
@alex alex theyre sad and pathetic due to their outdated brains so they just say new things suck instead of facing the truth of their old age or stupid train of thought
Also the decade of Timothy McVeigh, Ted Kaczynski, Columbine, Waco, Ruby Ridge, the LA riots, OJ, and not to mention the numerous genocides. AYou are so right! Why does everyone have to romanticize even the shittiest of times?
@Bassem El Borni You just need another 20 years and when u look back nowadays cars will look just like that bad. The difference is that there were iconic cars back than. Think about Delorien, Porsche , Supra etc. Nowadays only bad copies of these with 99% of the cars looking the same curvy bubbly shit. All look the same from 50 meters.
Ariel Veron I would hardly call it enlightening considering they're the ones deceiving us about our reality and the truth, namely Jesus Christ. Jesuits and masons know the earth is flat and immovable but introduced heliocentricity, the Big Bang and evolution to hide God and salvation. Knowledge is power. But their god is lucifer, the so-called light bearer. 2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light

The eighties and early nineties was amazing era of music. It was in such an identity crisis that it was amazing and all over the place with awesome hits like this!
I grew up as a teenager in the 90's and if you are living in this time you ARE missing out on many awesome things. Yes new tech is somewhat cool but you have no idea.
I found this band back when I was twelve, eight years ago now. I was in seventh grade and never felt like I fit in, and I faced a lot of bullying and harassment. This song was in my head one day, and I searched for it when I got home. Low and behold, I found Ace of Base. This song’s message helped me realize that regardless of what I face because of it, I should always be myself.

Scandinavian, not European.
@@gaynor1721 same thing.. oh I like Chinese food not Asian food.
@@nick56677 Not the same thing. Scandinavians do not consider themselves European. For one thing, they're Protestant countries. Most of Europe are Roman Catholic countries. As someone who is part Swedish, I'm a better judge than you.

This song is just as beautiful as it was 28 years ago!
True i even have it as a ring tone
This is my early teens in a song. I would play and replay the song for hours and dance, dreaming about one day becoming as cool and stylish as you, guys. I love each one of you, Linn, Jonas, Jenny and Ulf. Your music made me happier and will always live in my memories. ❤️

No song defines my high school years and memories more than this one.
Even though back then I was a pretty hardcore "metal head," I should not have given this song a chance at all. But it cut through all of that and won me over. And I still blast it loudly and proudly to this day.
yeah nice
My song that defined my high school years was High Voltage by AC/DC. I would always get a shock from everyone.
You're gay, just admit it
i was not exactly metalhead, but only heard sad depressing rock , some metal too. but Ace of Base was in a league of i ts own really. i loved it too.
The early 90s are so interesting. The 80s vibe is still there, but it has its own distinct feel that shaped the late 90s. Must’ve been a special time
Second only to the 70s, it was the greatest decade ever.
It was the best time to grow up in 💯
It's almost 2017 and I never bored listen to this song. Everytime I heard this song. I feel joy and happiness. 😊😊
I'm listening to Ace Of Base The Sign late June 2022
Listening since 1993
Ohh boy, 30 years. This is probably the most played pop song of 1994.
At least that's how I remember it, even though I was only 8.
This is 1993...
I was just a teenager when this was released, its a 90's classic that is timeless in every way.
I was born with was released in 93'
Oh man, they knew how to make their stuff. Remember that time when pop songs used to have real singers?
They still do. Now get off that high horse before you injure your neck.
+Dermacrosis damnnnn
+Dermacrosis
Just because he knows what real music is and what it stands for doesnt mean he is on a high horse, this song actually takes good song writing, talent, and creativity, unlike auto tune shit nowadays that is made purely for money

Yes because there is no snide insult in that comment at all.
Oh and Cher would like a word with you about her song "Believe"
So tell me when is THE golden age of music? Not when you think it is but when everyone agrees it is.
It never existed by the way it is the rose tinted specs effect that make us think there was one. We fogret the vast majority of bland easilly forgotten music and the dire crap and only remember fondly what we have attachments to. Every decade has been the same.
One of them was a nazi....
I spent my teenage years trying to act like I didn’t care for AOB because I was “alternative” Revisiting this band now at 40 I’m their biggest fan. What a truly special band this was. Linn and Jenny 😍
You finally saw the sign.
I remember when this hit the charts.... One of the best of the erra, and will live on forever!!❤️!!
I still love Ace of Base after all these years
@@simonwarner6594 your kinda right but what’s with the ABBA hate lol

Some songs are just timelessness, 30 years later and this song still slaps
The whole album really

This is such a perfectly written song. Its not my genre at all, but as someone who has tried to write songs myself, it's a really beautiful piece of music. If the John Lennon had released this, in his own style, nobody would question it

Shout out to all those who love Ace of Base in 2022. One of the most underrated 90’s groups in my opinion. They still have their own sound 30 years later. ❤️🔥
Excellent band, and this is my favourite!!

Fun fact: They were called Ace of Base because they were the best basement band when they were working their way up. This song could come out today and be a hit. Love this band and the cringy videos too.
Ive read they were inspired by Ace of Spades (Motorhead)😁
Hey, I wish music videos were this good still. I consider today's music videos by people like Ariana Grande, etc. to be cringe AF.
60 years of listening to music, ALL genres and this is in my all-time top ten!

Nothing much remaining now.

It truly was the last bastion of common sense and rational but soon the PC culture and offence were to rule and change the world into what we now know
@alex and I think people like you are too inconvenienced by truth and reality that you like to just disregard and ignore it entirely.
The bassline in underrated.
@Bassem El Borni except the cars yuck they were ugly
Agreed. They aced it
@Bassem El Borni I like the looks of the 90's Honda/Acura NSX more than the modern one

So true
I found this band back when I was twelve, eight years ago now. I was in seventh grade and never felt like I fit in, and I faced a lot of bullying and harassment.
This song was in my head one day, and I searched for it when I got home. Low and behold, I found Ace of Base. This song’s message helped me realize that regardless of what I face because of it, I should always be myself.
