- Hello everyone, welcome to SA Today. On 20 July 2024, we will start today's video with a very cold day in South Africa and people sleeping on tar roads for heat. Then, a cold morning at Parys at -11 degrees Celsius today. R59 road was still closed at 17h00. We watch the donkeys at the Dassiefontein Farmstall near Caledon. Then, stand on the pavilion and drive towards the Point in Durban. We visit the roller rink at the Pearls Mall in Umhlanga. In addition, a honey badger was spotted on patrol in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Then, we will show you a cloudy, cold day at Bloubergstrand, and we will show you more videos from around South Africa.

We live in the platteland but try and see as much as we can of South Africa. Join us on a journey as we explore the beauty of South Africa through daily video captures. We want to show our viewers as many places as we can across the country worth visiting. South Africa is a large country, and only some locals know where all these places are, we therefore add a map that we created to show where the video was captured more or less. We also try and provide some history on many of the towns, museums and events on that day in South Africa. We take pride in bringing original and captivating videos that will leave you in awe.
Also in this video, we drive down the Houw Hoek Pass on the N2, drive slowly around Haenertsburg, drive past Ngodwana where the Sappi paper plant is located. We spotted baboons today in the Kruger National Park. We end the video today with the Paardefontein Auction in the town Val in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa.

It was reported. Later received call back that the person was intoxicated and refused assistance. He was pulled off the road and hopefully stayed there for his own and everyone else safety.

In South Africa, unfortunately, this kind of situation is often a trap ....the guy in the road is on the drivers side view, and the other 2 you only see, when the driver did the u-turn, could be involved just as much as they could be innocent, honest bystanders.
I have no knowledge of what really happened here but the best action to take (especially in unknown or remote locations) is to drive to, or call the nearest security, police or neighbourhood watch to assist. Stopping your car in any location and exiting is not advised unless you were a witness to the guy getting hit, laying down to sleep, or directly involved in the situation.
It's a real shame because people who are really in need of help could be overlooked because of the risk to ones safety. I'm not saying I'm right nor accusing people I don't know... but rather expressing safety advice, taking into account possible scenarios and risk management. Regardless of my view, I hope he is safe and well.

That tree with the large pods isn’t a magnolia tree as they have a type of cone which produces red seeds.
The only tree I know that makes those large pods is a silk floss tree?

That guy lying in the road is a tactic used to rob. That happened last weekend to a woman in my area in east london. She swerved out the way and drove through the barrier only to get robbed blindly by that person and others who were waiting nearby in a vehicle. Becareful people
Not a totally strange occurance to see an intoxicated person sleeping next to a road like we see at the beginning of this video. Or on a sidewalk or any odd place. Skeeping it off.
