This was an AWESOME video! Honestly, I'm glad that the Jolly Green Giant managed to be really popular, maybe not to Tony the Tiger or Ronald Mcdonald levels, but the fact he got his own STATUE and SONGS is amazing! Someone has to get people to eat vegetables.
Thanks so much! That really means a lot! I myself have a deep appreciation for artistry on every level and I see mascot design and advertising as a form of art that deserves to be recognized and remembered, no matter how ridiculous they may have been lol

Speaking of mascots who have interesting histories, Jack from Jack In The Box would be cool for a future video. While most of his ads are from the 90s, 2000s, and current day, Jack actually dates back to the 1950s, however, he really became a mascot in every sense of the term in the 1970s. Sadly, there's only three ads [Baseball, In The Park, Jack In The Box Animated Commercial 1970s] on TH-cam, but there's also the three comic with records [How a House Makes Noise, How Pain Helps Us, Where Oil Comes From] on TH-cam as well. There's also a few commercial compilations of Modern Jack and the restaurant in general, so there's still a decent amount of material to work with. Interesting fact: The 1970s version of Jack was voiced by Paul Winchell [voice of Tigger], as well as his friends [you can definitely hear Paul Winchell's Tigger laugh with Onion Ring Thing].
While that is actually pretty interesting info and perhaps something we'll look into at some point for a different project, this show focuses primarily on mascots whose fame is no longer...well...fame lol Jack is still in commercials in pretty heavy rotation I feel like, so he's not yet eligible for an episode, and honestly, I'm happy about that cause I personally like Jack! But thanks for the suggestion anyway and if you have others please let me know, I'm always looking for more that I perhaps either haven't heard or haven't thought of. Glad you enjoyed the episode!
Nice job on the video Penny & Maggie, but...maybe you oughta check out Battle Creek MI at the Kellogg's plant. Tony the Tiger DOES have a statue. Okay, it's not the same size as the Giant's, but he has one.
This is embarrassing, but when I was a little kid I was TERRIFIED of The Jolly Green Giant, and would run out of the room when his commercial was on the TV!😱
Since you seem to be new here, I'll repeat what I've said before. The name of this show isn't exactly specific when it comes to "dead". We just mean mascots that are no longer super relevant within the realm of pop culture, whose time as "icons" have come to pass. A lot of people have gotten confused by the series title and, in hindsight, it wasn't exactly the greatest decision we made lol

Tennessee Ernie Ford wrote the Jolly Green Giant theme? Boy, you learn something new every day.

Wasn't aware of this! Thanks for letting me know! It's nice to know there's other statues out there, even if they are smaller.

Um… this isn’t a dead mascot. It’s the current mascot.
