You go girl! I'll be following along. One thing about this year is that the west is getting absolutely SLAMMED with storms. Snow pack is already 200+% above average. That means hiking in the Sierra will be difficult until about July but it also means there should be ample water in the desert section ("short" water carries). And the wildflower bloom should be gorgeous. Also, risk of wild fire beyond the Sierra should be low. Overall, it'll be a good year to hike, just be careful in the Sierra. Hike On! Oh, and I think I can guess what your surprise is. I have no external knowledge, just my guess. If I'm right, you'll be one happy camper. What a way to end your hike!

So glad you are tackling it again! I just read the best book that has helped me with the mental challenges of a long hike. It is called Pushing North by Trey Free. His TH-cam channel is earlyriser71. Just a fantastic book. Another hiker suggested it to me, paying it forward.

Again? I wish you all the luck in 2023. Watching those that succeed the thru hike, they typically have a social network of hikers around them. Unless of course they are freakish athletes that are trying to break the land speed record. I think your idea to get to know the other hikers this time around and surround yourself with a group is a good idea. This PCT is going to be different given the snow accumulation in California…..the group will make the daily grind a little easier and safer….Perhaps don’t worry so much about editing and putting out videos…

Happy New Year!! 🥳 My knees have been fine. I have arthritis so you know how that goes... sometimes I feel them, but usually it's very intermittent and resolves quickly. I take all the supplements. With your experience in the desert you may pick up some Condorlings. The image in my mind makes me chuckle. Good luck this year, you may want to practice some ice ax skills if you are starting early.

One more time! I'm glad you're hiking the PCT again. I did a short 50-mile 3-day segment with a friend last July and plan to do a different 200 miles in Oregon with another friend this August. I already snagged one cancellation so I'm sure I'll get a better one. They seem to be posting cancellations at the end of the day now whereas last year they all seemed to be around 10am or so.
I like your training program. Especially increasing the pack weight as you get closer to the hike date. I think that will strengthen the core and shoulder muscles and your balance. However I am not so sure about doing more than 5 miles on every hike -- maybe do 15 miles once a week and concentrate on speed or using hills with the other hikes in the week. I think you are on the right tract by not counting calories to loose weight. I have found that if I loose weight too fast from limiting calories -- I will loose muscle strength and endurance.

I didn't elaborate too much in my video, but I do alternate lengths of my hikes and the terrain, and am currently taking 3 days off in a row per week from hiking - where I focus on strength training. This worked very well for the PCT last year so am going to stick with what seems to work for me. Thanks for watching! 🙏🌺❤️

I love it so far...ULA Ohm 2.0, I chose custom colors and fabrics. I honestly haven't carried it at full capacity. Soon though. That will be the real test. So far as comfortable as my ULA Circuit- which I also love. ☺️🌺
I am hiking on 2024 and starting the day of my retirement. Luckily I am a bit of an introvert so my concern isn’t emotional but physical. I am afraid of a physical since I am late middle aged.

Again? I wish you all the luck in 2023. Watching those that succeed the thru hike, they typically have a social network of hikers around them. Unless of course they are freakish athletes that are trying to break the land speed record. I think your idea to get to know the other hikers this time around and surround yourself with a group is a good idea. This PCT is going to be different given the snow accumulation in California…..the group will make the daily grind a little easier and safer….Perhaps don’t worry so much about editing and putting out videos…

Happy New Year!! 🥳 My knees have been fine. I have arthritis so you know how that goes... sometimes I feel them, but usually it's very intermittent and resolves quickly. I take all the supplements. I will keep you all updated as I can. I'll know when it feels right to start sharing, when I'm really established out there. Hugs! ❤️🌺🙏

With your experience in the desert you may pick up some Condorlings. The image in my mind makes me chuckle. Good luck this year, you may want to practice some ice ax skills if you are starting early.

One more time! I'm glad you're hiking the PCT again. I did a short 50-mile 3-day segment with a friend last July and plan to do a different 200 miles in Oregon with another friend this August. Maybe I'll see you out there, enjoy your training.

I'll be out on the trail with you but I just section hiking so I'll follow along as I get the chance. I'm trying to do OR and WA to Canada this year but will be starting in Campo for the 5th time as well as a training / warm up hike till the snow melts in the Cascades.

I already snagged one cancellation so I'm sure I'll get a better one. They seem to be posting cancellations at the end of the day now whereas last year they all seemed to be around 10am or so.
I like your training program. Especially increasing the pack weight as you get closer to the hike date. I think that will strengthen the core and shoulder muscles and your balance. However I am not so sure about doing more than 5 miles on every hike -- maybe do 15 miles once a week and concentrate on speed or using hills with the other hikes in the week. I think you are on the right tract by not counting calories to loose weight. I have found that if I loose weight too fast from limiting calories -- I will loose muscle strength and endurance.

I didn't elaborate too much in my video, but I do alternate lengths of my hikes and the terrain, and am currently taking 3 days off in a row per week from hiking - where I focus on strength training. This worked very well for the PCT last year so am going to stick with what seems to work for me. Thanks for watching! 🙏🌺❤️

I love it so far...ULA Ohm 2.0, I chose custom colors and fabrics. I honestly haven't carried it at full capacity. Soon though. That will be the real test. So far as comfortable as my ULA Circuit- which I also love. ☺️🌺

I am hiking on 2024 and starting the day of my retirement. Luckily I am a bit of an introvert so my concern isn’t emotional but physical. I am afraid of a physical since I am late middle aged.
