I posted the same words on another Robin Williams video. It is true. Johnny could have had anyone on his last night with guest. He chose Robin and Bette Middler. She was his favorite singer.
Sorry , He is great but Don Rickles takes the price. Johnny had him on all the time and refused to do any practice or script. He just let Don go , watch the clips
Right this was the year my B&G macaw was hatched, she’s been with me since she was 10 months when I rescued her. It brings me back to those days when we didn’t realize how good we had it.
We should all feel lucky that we got to experience him, and live in the same time, witness an absolute ultra genius. I believe Robin was able to access way, WAY more of his brain than the average human.
Johnny handled such an explosive, unpredictable personality so brilliantly. He didn't try to stifle Robin, set him up perfectly. Just absolute brilliance.
Migod, Johnny was so talented HE KNEW HOW to let the OTHERS, let his guests shine and helped them do great. He knew how to help set up the mood for the guests on the show. He could work WITH ANY BODY.
Robin Williams is incredible in this of course, but Johnny Carson deserves credit for being able to keep up with him so well. When he's not keeling over laughing, he's setting up a nice reparte and keeping them well on track. Incredible hosting. They're both one of a kind.
Robin Williams. Actor and Comedian extraordinaire. "Awakenings" and "What Dreams May Come" are such sensitive great movies. Tears flowed down my cheeks during both. I hope and pray that Robin's Soul found peace.
I remember riding Its A Small World ride at Disneyland in my childhood & Robin Williams was on the boat behind us with his family. He looked so happy to be there with them. We didn't bug him after the ride was over. For a moment he was unnoticed and allowed to be a father with his children. His energy was and is amazing.
R.I.P. "Awakenings" is one of my all time favorite movies. I cry everytime. Robin you were a brilliant light and breath of fresh air. You will be missed.
+Yeonhee Ahn You're joking right? Like this wasn't rehearsed? Its obvious Johnny was leading him...and that he knew exactly what was coming. Robin of course had a wonderful memory and mind...
+Heather Mallard It wasn't entirely improv here probably, but you should see some of his interviews on the Today Show and his interview on Inside the Actors Studio. You can't honestly tell me most of that stuff in those more "serious" interviews isn't off the cuff. No one was leading him in those interviews.
Someone like Robin Williams doesn't die. He's simply sleeping and letting us miss his presence on screen and on stage. Don't know about the world but I miss his unique performance. No-one could take his place. He made us laugh our hearts out throughout his whole career. He was not happy in his personal life but never let his fans know that. He was bleeding inside but never let us see the blood stain. That's not an easy thing to do.
There simply isn't anybody like this left in the world of comedy. Such confidence. Such energy. There is no such comedian in this modern world to compare him to. RIP Robin.
Non stop one liners this guy had that ability to almost turn anything into a laugh. But also as his role in good will hunting showed he was a great dramatic actor as well now that is the definition of talent.
I'm glad Johnny brought up what a great actor Robin was as well. Awakenings was an excellent film and Williams was also great in Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting.
Not many people can make Johnny Carson laugh, and only a chosen few can really make him lose it like that. RIP to the greatest late night host and talk show guest ever.
thaloh I got to meet Robin outside of the Letterman Show in the days when there were no barricades blocking off the crowd and put my hand on his shoulder and he seemed so kind and humble beyond words. I can't explain it more than that way.

Foot to the floor on a gas pedal that says "COCAINE". Not to disparage him - loved Robin Williams. He was a gifted, natural talent. But he never shy'ed away from his admittance of using coke in the past.
Absolutely. I come from Glasgow, the hometown of Billy Connolly, who stated that Williams was his hero. Connolly doesn't hand out compliments that often, when he does, you can be damn sure they're true. I'm still missing the wee man. Genius is not a word to be bandied about. But when you listen to RW in his stand up routines, a mind that works that quick has to be considered for that category,
Just to see Johnny’s face now, makes me feel sooo good. He was the most polite and respectful late night host in history, no one can fill his shoes! He never ever put his guests down or made them feel disrespected. ❤️johnny…and Robin! We are so lucky to have had the chance to know these men.
Because the real talent is gone and everything is about identity politics. Haven't watched in years. Thank you, You Tube contributors, for keeping these people alive!
This man is pure genius. The world has truly lost a one in a million actor and human being. I never knew him but cried when I found out he passed, I grew up with this man. Most of my favourite movies have Robin Williams in them and I am so sad to know that the world will never see a man like this ever again. Rest in Peace.
He's soooo funny and entertaining. It's hard taking my eyes off the screen as soon as he comes on. It's heartbreaking we'll never get to see this comedic genious live again. He'll be missed very much.

There are only a few people that come to mind that I would like to meet.He is at the top of my list. Part of his hyper act is him. Plain and simple. He made a career out of this. But he has a brilliant mind. 100x smarter that your average person. I would love to meet the guy just to talk to him.
I was lucky enough to meet Robin Williams in Los Angeles when he was in the middle of filming his movie “Moscow On The Hudson” and was able to get an autograph, which was a thrill !! He is just as funny off camera as on and a very gifted individual indeed !! Rip dear sir, our sweet Robin Williams. 🙏🏻🌹💋✝️💜
Exceptional ability make everyone laugh while masking his inner turmoil. How Robin's mind worked amazed me. Johnny was such a great host too. . Great combo... both sorely missed.
He was a genius and never showed his pain. I could watch him non-stop he was fantastic. So sad no one knew he was suffering deep down. He is missed by all.
I love how much Carson enjoys this interview. Robin sure did bring a lot of funny and warmth wherever he went. You can tell how amazing he was by how many people felt a connection with him. RIP.

You can see the kindness and generosity Billy Crystal spoke about., among others, when he starts speaking about mental illness in the film. He is respectful and knows when to be serious when needed just as he knows when to entertain and let his electricity shine when the moment allows. Love him.
To all of Robins children, your dad is a joy to the world not because of his talent but because his a great human being who not think about himself but the people in his country. Very kind person.
My doctor just told me I have cancer. I've been 'loading' again on Robin Williams these days. I'll surely look for him - of course, after I find my dad and my grandparents! - when the time comes for me to go. It could be sooner than I might expect... But, I know I'm going to look for a lot of people when my time comes. He's probably still cracking jokes somewhere 'out there'. I'll thank him for making it a bit less 'heavy' (emotionally) as I knowingly walk through the path of inevitability. It's been fun watching him... :)

Hard to believe this was from 32 1/2 years ago. Miss them both!
I am so lucky to have these two as regular fixtures in comedy when I was growing up. Timeless.
WOW.

Truly an amazing mind, heart, spirit...💞
I feel lucky to have Robin my whole childhood. What a gem. He entertained us and some of our movies made me cry. He is really missed
Robin is the Elvis of comedy. There’ll never be another one. There’s just one! He never be replaced. He alwsys makes me laugh. ALWAYS!

He's one of the very few celebrities for whom I cried when they died.
Especially when he did the hot dog inpersonation in mrs doubtfire lol
Not many people are familiar with Elvis Costello. Interesting comparison

Johnny handled such an explosive, unpredictable personality so brilliantly. He didn't try to stifle Robin, set him up perfectly. Just absolute brilliance.
Johnny is so fucking annoying. Dave is much more entairtaining. Case closed !!
Johnny was The. Best.
And look what happened, he hung himself because he was given too much freedom.
I have heard many hosts say its the easiest night when Robin is on; they just need to introduce him, sit back and enjoy the ride
Migod, Johnny was so talented HE KNEW HOW to let the OTHERS, let his guests shine and helped them do great. He knew how to help set up the mood for the guests on the show. He could work WITH ANY BODY.

Brilliant , the both of them
The only other host I’ve ever seen keep up was Craig Ferguson. They were hilarious together.
The most amazing part is that Johnny was in our homes practically every night for decades, yet we (I) took him for granted until he was gone.
Jamie Nyx…(above)
Damn! I just wrote the same words in the comments on Carson’s penultimate show! I miss them both.
I saw Robins mom come on one time. She said with Robin you never knew who was coming down to breakfast in the mornings. She was so cute.
Robin Williams mind was firing on another dimension. Just incredible. I doubt we will ever see anything like it again. RIP maestro
You were brilliant Robin and tragically left us too soon and heartbroken. God rest your soul and I hope you are at peace!!❤️
I never get tired of seeing these clips. He was so funny.

What a great actor and comedian.
Only one of his kind comes along in a lifetime. I miss him.

Robin Williams and Johnny Carson together... This is a huge treasure!
He will be missed, he was and still is the funniest guy ever.
Love the hilarity of Carson's laughter. So genuine. Williams was a TRUE genius, on so many levels. Great era. They don't make them like they used to!
Jesus........Carson cant even contain his laughter, just RAW and spontaneous. Robin Williams is a good example of how you should view life
