@@JointerMark Correct, he shoots and reloads better than the vast majority of shooters in large part because he shoots and reloads far more often than the vast majority of people. Watching shooters on youtube won't make you a better shooter to the degree that going and actually shooting will, just like watching youtube vids of people working out won't get you in better shape.

Shot placement is everything however I've never seen, as an LEO in NYC, one single perp allow any PO to get that perfect shot placement....reality is going to really upset those who can't think.

    • @vidard9863
      @vidard9863 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

The problem however is that you need to think. It's all risk vs reward. If space or weight is a concern, AND you need to plan on extended time, AND you are reasonably healthy. .22lr is a good balance, for the "go bag". Firstly you already have your EDC, with your normal carry ammunition. So the .22lr just needs to be better than nothing/being out of ammo, or fill a different role. My target .22lr pistol is much more accurate in my hands than my .45 EDC. The target pistol and 100 rounds puts small game back on the menu, while weighing less than one similarly accurate (in my hands) large caliber pistol with only one magazine.
I KNOW that I will need food and water, but I don't know wether or not I will actually be in combat. So a lot of my weight and space is not for firearms.
On the other hand if things get bad, any pistol will discourage more fights than no pistol, and it will be much easier to get an officer to turn a blind eye to a .22lr in the bottom of my gym bag than a 9, simply because .22lr pretty clearly states "I am not looking for problems". Odds are that I will need a LEO to say "I don't want to do the paperwork, just don't do it again." More than I will need to survive a zombie apocalypse.

Was just telling myson and daughter in law this about a week ago. She is smaller frame, not a lot of physical strength and has a condition where she experience joint pain relatively easy. While i wouldnt recommend 22lr for self defense, it might be the best option for her, and certainly better than a pointy stick. But i explained the importance of shot placement and target choice with 22 lr in particular. There is very little assurance that aiming for "center mass" of the body with 22lr will stop the threat, but aiming for the center of the head will definitely have a higher likelyhood of stopping the threat. Great video, very informative and will share it with them!

      Which is indeed excellent.
Almost surprising, from my viewpoint (retired RGN, almost 3 years out from starting 3 months of treatment for "Stage-4" Tonsil Cancer).
Any Treatment which wins against Cancer takes a couple of years to "get over", I'm finding...
I'm trying right now to damp down a niggling concern that this might be an old Clip (?), which has only now been uploaded...
      Either the Treatment went
Really well, which is my hope ; or this is a bit of old footage...
From Oz, I can't tell which is the case...
      Let's hope for the best.

      @@corvidconfidential8826
      G'day,
      Pharoah enuf then, that's reassuring.
I was plotting the datapoints, mentally, from the Video released immediately prior to Paul being admitted to the Hospice - with him wearing that TARDIS of a Shooting Coat of his (in new condition and too big for his weight-loss, from his admitted "Stash" of them acquired over the years...), one Aluminium Crutch for unspecified mobility-issues - but able to raise and point and shoot with his Right Arm/Hand impressively well...
Beside how strained, tired, drawn, and tightly-strung he appeared - while affecting a cheerful veneer of bonhomie for the Event ; after having been receiving Treatment for his condition...
And, yeah, well, this pops up and he's back in the clean new unmarked & oversized TARDIS Coat, with the same Aluminium Crutch and he's raising & pointing, aiming and firing Handguns as fast and as accurately as ever...
I dunno what style of Treatment they're giving him, but I know that 5 months after starting the Regime which worked for me ; the Side-Effects of anything which will beat and kill Stage-4 malignant metastatic Cancer before it kills the patient - left me barely able to potter through the day..., weak, fragile, slow, and visibly struggling to come back to something resembling what
      Life
      Used to be like
      Before being
      SUCCESSFULLY treated for
      Pre-terminal Tonsil Cancer...
I've never been treated for Pancreatic Cancer, so I dunno from a personal perspective, and it's a long time - 42 years...., since I nursed anyone post-Operatively following a
Whipple's Procedure (look that one up...) ; Treatment these days is a very great deal more effective than it was back then.
But I would have expected Paul's response to whatever they do these days for Ca. of the Pancreas..., to take longer than this ; for him to be able to have
      "Bounced back from".
Not that surprising the Pundits is anything bad...; I took my Electric Bicycle to the Cancer Institute & racked up 176 Km over 7 weeks of Radiation (Cooking my Head) in a Linear Accelerator 35 times for 2 minutes each, and mainlining a shot of Cytotoxic Poison every Tuesday - so maybe it was riding around the Hospital Carpark which actually effected my cure ?
      (Jokularis jokulii)...
My grimmest issue was that I copped so much Radiation they had to pull all my Fangs out, first ; so there was a month of toothless starvation before the "actual Treatment" began...
And right now, 3 years since first becoming toothless, it's only really this past 6 months that I'm starting to feel as if I'm getting the hang of being a
      Toothless, tasteless, mangy-lookin'
Recovering Zombie (!) and enjoying it...
      But this
New existence as a recovering remnant
Sure beats pushing up those little Daisies, starting in September 2021 which I was otherwise scheduled to be doing...
I suppose it would satisfy the restless enquiring nature of my mind, were Paul in the next Video to pass a comment on something, anything, which has happened since Roy and he made the Video in the Hospice, when a bunch of
GunTubers all showed up to wish Paul the best & thank him for everything which he's shared...
I dunno, maybe he could tell us if he thinks President Biden should
      Act on the SCOTUS' latest
      Immunity Ruling
      By having the
      Military immediately Arrest &
      Incarcerate &
      Interrogate
      SCOTUS & all
      MAGA Congressmen & Senators,
      As his next
      Official
      Presidentially
      Immune
      Action...?
      Now that SCOTUS has
      Crowned
      Biden as the currently reigning
      King of all
      'MurriKa(!)... ?
That might do it, for my sense of curiosity...; is Paul in favour, or opposed, to the
Motion..., with his answer delivered to the Camera personally....
I look forward to watching his
      Video response...
      Such is life,

Shot placement in my opinion in a stressful situation for most of us is dependent on training and a whole lot of luck especially when the other guy is shooting back. Seems to me recalling my military training movement is your best friend, you may not hit what you’re intending to but then neither will the other guy. Me not being overly competitive I can live with a 0 0 tie. Law enforcement gets paid to win, I just want to go about the rest of my day, maybe have lunch.

-- It's amazing how quickly someone can close on you from 20 yards. You have to analyze, act effectively, then sit in court and listen to someone that just wants a good w/l record and a paycheck try to throw you in prison by twisting it into anything but.
More importantly, always great to see you Paul.

To piggyback on your point in the beginning, Paul, on distances for self defense shootings, people should familiarize themselves with Elisjsha Dicken who stopped a mass shooter at a mall at 40 yards with an iron sighted glock. So it can and has happened, and is a viable situation to train for along with everything else

Excellent information. I occasionally forego the larger calibers for the ease of concealability. It really makes sense to adjust point of aim based upon the capability of the round I'm sending downrange. Thanks Paul & Roy - best wishes to you both.

With the size of 380 pistols today, my belief is that a 22 is a good choice only when the carrier is intolerant to recoil or the gun is already owned. In a life-threatening situation, not many of us could realistically hit the required location to stop an attacker. All the more reason to practice.
What do you think about a 22LR warning shot to the leg with a promise that the next will be in between the eyes? Is a 22 painful enough to change the mind of an attacker or just drive up his rage?

    • @davem4193
      @davem4193 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

I disagree somewhat only because .380 ACP pocket pistols are prone to limp wristing. I've owned a number of .380s from S&W, Beretta, Taurus & Glock. If you have to put a heavy grip on a pistol to keep it from limp wristing you're not going to be accurate. The Glock is the only one that didn't have limp wristing issues but I hated the spongey trigger so I got rid of it. I also have an S&W model 43C in .22LR (8 shot revolver) that I prefer to carry over my .380 for a lightweight pocket pistol. I can accurately and quickly put all 8 shots into a head sized target. I'm not recoil sensitive either, I have an M&P 340 in .357 that matches the 43C in size but I'm much faster and more accurate with that little .22 and it's so much cheaper to practice with I shoot it all the time. I carry Federal Punch .22 which meets the FBI penetration standard (12 inches). I personally would never fire a warning shot.

I can't even begin to express how helpful this channel is to a novice such as myself who never had anyone teach him about firearms. I've been a firearms owner for 25 years now and I still never tell anyone I'm an expert. I'm just a guy who likes to shoot from time-to-time.

A world record grizzly bear was taken by a 22 long, which is weaker than a 22LR, so yeah, shot placement can be all the difference.

But that bear was also taken by surprise from very close.
If it is running at you on open then you might wanna have something bit bigger
because body shots will make it just angry. May die later but not before it have totally mauled that shooter.
