As far as setting the octave in the synth, on the other side of the coin it's nice to have the midi represent the actual notes (not offset by a synth setting). This way midi note and frequency spectrums line up perfectly. Nice vid and congrats on 100K! 🎉
Yes I agree. I hate synths that set the octave settings. As a composer/arranger I often already know what octave I want a particular sound to be in and draw this on the midi roll.
Great way to approach learning synthesis. I like to do covers and it's always a challenge to figure out what the synth is doing, rather than just searching for a preset made by someone else, and they're rarely spot on or satisfying.
Another thing that might help is to cut the part of the track with the sound you want and run it through a stem splitter, sometimes (obviously not every time) you’ll be able to get a clean version of the reference sound without the drums or bass interfering
Fantastic video, I always want to learn more about making synth sounds as so often they make up such a huge, iconic part of songs. One I've been trying (and failing) to go after recently is the synth sound used in Billie Marten's Liquid Love
Wow, you make that seem so easy. Whenever I start messing about with a synth, it usually ends up sounding like a trumpet. I suppose I need to learn how to use them. Keep up the good work!
12:22 This. 2 years ago, i build my own future house preset pack by using Big Z’s presets as a starting point. This is a genius tip. Thanks for the vid man, keep up the good work💪
Some good advice here. There’s a particular synth sound Thomas Dolby uses in one of his songs that I’ve really wanted to recreate, but I kinda get lost in the sauce when I try. This will at least give me some solid direction. Thanks!
Appreciate this type of content Big Z. Big ups on 100k! It would be sweet to have you make this kind of video a reoccurring series, with some complex sounds.
2:23 bro, there is a recurring high pitch artifact around 5kHz that keeps showing up. I think you need to increase the high-cut on your Master channel for this video. Cheers.
Sample packs can be useful especially when starting out if you want to study or just to get some music made but I agree making your own sounds will help keep your tunes unique.
I just started learning using syntorial that’s a course and it’s good. I also got audible genius for music theory. It’s harder to learn on TH-cam at least for me there is high quality courses and I know there’s a lot of bad ones. Sometimes people need courses to learn and it can really help. I personally benefit a lot from a structured curriculum.
It can be useful, if you like making patches like this, to make high passed versions of the noise file, rather than using a filter in the synth for it. e.g. five files with the HP set at 500, 1k, 2, 5k, 8k.
Hi, I can't see the option to use the 100k promo code when I add to basket. Is it after you enter payment details on next page or has the code been removed? Thanks 😊
In the song sounds like he have another sound in the begennin like a noise or a percussive high sample blending with a white noise doing a diferente melody. Like a rolling short melody.
hello, love your content...bought your drum pack and was wondering if the kicks are in a certain key? also how to get them to the key of Cmajor if they're not?
hey Big Z, i have been following you almost from the start. Is it possible that you mabye could do a video where you react to norwegian "russe" music. for example: Barcock 2021, Blitzkrieg 2022 or Beklager (Nesbrurussen)? it would mean the world to me, and many norwegians that watch your videos :)
Is the automation of the cutoff in the synth or in the daw? Suppose you want that sound but create your own melody which is longer. Sometimes presets seem to manipulate the sound over time and I never use them. I can't really work with a sound that sounds different on each key press. I wonder if that would he the case here

can you remake the rusko - everyday (netsky remix) lead?
Congrats man! I've been watching your video's for years. You are amazing!
can we download the preset you made in this video?
@@tom7131 yes i would like to have it too.
Are those Shure SRH1540 headphones you’re using?
Sound design is art. You nailed it!!
the only producer i would pay for curse or packs, totaly genius
So….we’re paying to get cursed now 😂
Or did you mean you’d pay for curse or pox?! 🤔
@@nossy4301 hahahaha i meant course 🤣

@@EricTheYounger Yep, same here.
i think the reason is to copy paste midi for multiple tracks

Probably my favorite current channel on TH-cam. Gonna grab one of your preset packs 💛🤘🏼

Love the editing style and I’m actually able to see your face while seeing the visuals, helps a lot for some reason lol.
youre crazyyyyyyyyyy. 1 year later and this is still useful. goat
Congrats on 100k man, it was just a matter of time. No doubt you're one of the best production channels on here!
Wow, you make that seem so easy. Whenever I start messing about with a synth, it usually ends up sounding like a trumpet. I suppose I need to learn how to use them. Keep up the good work!
Congrats for the 100K bro! 🙌🤩
100k doesn't really justify the content you post on here. It should already be beyond millions. You're a genius at work

We need more courses!!!!!! ❤
Yooooo !!!! That synth from 'The Sign' is also my favourite. Its like you read my mind and made a tutorial for that sound
What scary as I watch this is that AI would almost certainly be able to match this perfectly in seconds, minutes at most..
That was amazing, I am so humbled by your talent!
Sick! An excellent step-by-step lesson on sound design in Serum
👏🏻 On the 100k,
You have always improved the way I make music so thank you.
a sick tutorial indeed & CONGRATS on100k !)
Unreal. You always crush it my guy
Enjoying every episode here always!

its been cool watching the channel grow ... you more then deserve it!

There are many things here that can be applied to remaking songs in general

Yo this is like the music producer version of those guys finding exact locations on google maps 😅
Wait so when u have a beat you made in your head you can make a synth to replicate it?

What's the original track called? It's so cool
Liked because you were at 666 likes and couldn't handle it staying there lol and also love your content bro! Keep up the great content!
Do you always make the fx and comp/eq on the synth? it's not ending up with many type of reverb and different space?
Superb!
congrats on the 100k man, you deserve everyone of them!
NICE-Z
not bad i was able to follow and make a version in vital

What is the original song in the referance because i love the bass and i would like to replicate the bass using your technique!

Hi, why do i have to mono leads?
That could have been done in a minute on a hardware analogue like the Matrixbrute or even seconds on a 101 and a pedal.
Awesome video
