And despite how horrific Oripathy is people in Arknights try to harvest Originium and use it like a resource.
Honestly, this stuff reminds me of Imulsion from Gears of War with how it's treated by society as a special resource even if has horrific diseases or viruses attached to it (Oripathy in AK or Rustlung and Lambency in Gears of War, which depended on if the victim is human or Locust until GOW 3.)
And once more, Relic Tech in GFL is also highly sought-after even though ELID contamination is a near-constant result of meddling with the Relic Sites.

Very interesting summary, however one bit of information that may explain Oriopathy's recurring cause of hallucinations and schizophrenic episodes is that Originium seems to be able to carry (and process) an insane amount of information.
That's why Ifirt, Ptilopsis and Nightmare, have to deal with voices in their heads (well, Nightmer seems to be a regular of DID though).
It is also the reason why Rosmontis' brother was able to be "transplanted" into her brain.

In Ifrits case it might also be the residual Will of the Diabolos, from the "Shards" she was implanted with and regarding Rosmontis it could be an actual transfer of her Brothers Mind(pretty literely when looking at the infected Organ, which was likely extracted from him). Of course, both Results are likely enhanced through the Use of Originium.

Nice Video, a really good summary. By the way, besides Mutation and direct Imperments for the Infected(loss of senses and Bodycontrol, etc.), Oripathy might also halt the growth of certain Individuals(as an exampel Eyjafjalla, whom I believe to look much younger then her actual age. Of course this is debatabel, since age in Arknights doesn't really play that big of Role in the first Place.)

It's less a theory, because at the end of Episode 8, Kal takes some of their blood and uses it to stabilize Amiya.

Isn't Kreide's "ability" tied to the Voice of Terra being "broken" and not his Oripathy tho? Or perhaps I remembered it wrong

Yes, damaged Voice of Terra makes Kreide accelerate others Oripathy. Ptilopsis part is also worng, she behaves like that because of failed scientific experiment she volunteered to.
