The Hunting Horn has always been one of my favorite weapons in gaming. It's basicly like a big ass hammer you beat the enemy in the face with to knock them out while also providing buffs and heals to everyone.
I got into monhun with 4u cause I read about the fishing minigame and animal crossing crossover stuff. Happy monhun month and great vid like always Capt.
My favorite thing about the games is that they give you a quest and its up to you how you get it done, you can do the same quest over and over and make it different every time.
my first experience with monster hunter was the final fantasy xiv crossover (for the uninitiated, there is a battle instance where you go in with 8 players ((the "extreme" version makes you only go in with 4)) and halfway through the fight you're forced to only use potions to heal rather than your healers.) oh, and, once you defeat him you gather scales from his corpse to craft cosmetic gear and, if you hate yourself, farm it for scales to turn in for a mount version of rathalos. but jeez! i didn't realize just how much of a love letter it was to the game it comes from!!! this video, i think, was the final little push i needed. the gameplay loop just sounds damn fun-- it's constant progression, which i adore. and man, you're always keeping up with the killer editing and on-beat jokes. looking forward to the mh related videos this month! :D
As a monster hunter series veteran and also veteran of ffxiv when the collab came out during stormblood it was almost like uncanny his attacks are basically identical to world so if you can fight a rathalos in monster hunter you know what attacks to expect in ffxiv and vice versa even though the style of game is so drastically different they made it translate so well into ffxiv. Monster hunter world also got behemoth as part of the crossover with xiv as well and cactuars as capturable pets in the maps and a big ol kulu ya ku chicken holding an aetheryte absorbing power and growing larger and being immune to status effects.
Started all the way back in MHFU, my buddies and I saw this game for the first time and thought that we should try it out for the heck of it. This game has managed to keep its identity, while adding smaller features to make them just a bit more unique. The fact that you have hundreds of hours worth of content, and a ton of skill checks makes this game worth every damn cent. We preordered Rise, and we plan on starting from the very bottom again.
i remember when i was a kid playing mhfu, i was literally asking all of my friends if they played too. Unfortunately none of them did but i still had the best memories cause i got to play with my brother and i think this game made us bond really well
Recently found your channel and I'm really enjoying your unique sense of humor. It's nice to see a creative channel with TH-cam humor being as repetitive and dull as it is.
OMFG yes!!!! Please tell me this means you're going to be adding some Monster Hunter content when Rise comes out!!! I'm constantly watching your Splatoon vids because I love your humor! I would love to see how you show MH content!!!
I resigned myself to not getting Rise. But then I killed Mistizune or however you spell it in the demo on my 5th try. I’m hooked. I preordered the deluxe edition just to be able to collect as much as I can.
The "hunting" part of Monster Hunter could be better. From what I understand World is probably the closest we have gotten (unable to play during its relevant years due to PC trouble) with investigations and scout flies, though even then that could use some work. Maybe a system in which prior knowledge is rewarded with bonuses or as you track it becomes easier to deduce where the monsters are instead of following the bug bread crumb trail.
just got youtube algorithm'd into this channel but I gotta say I love the style, can't wait for more MH content and whatever other games you're feeling like working on!
I'm at a game convention right now sitting in queue to try out monster hunter wilds because my friends told me to try it even though I never played a monster hunter game so I'm educating myself while waiting and this video actually made me wanna try the old games instead too cos it all seems fucking amazing, now I'm sad I missed out on the series for over a decade 😭
I'm a MHW baby looking forward to Rise, currently tackling 9* quests in MHGU with my trusty HH/CB while I wait. I've fallen hard for the series, and the monster behaviors and music are the biggest reasons.
A lot of the comments already said what I have to say long time hunter watched this anyway doesn’t disappoint. I quit MH because it was too hard many years ago but I got back in like a week because I miss the monsters too much, the monsters are damn well designed.

Quick note on the music in these games: “Proof of a Hero” gives me a feeling like no other song does. Listening to that song is like an overdose of adrenaline and dopamine at the same time
I hunted Yian Kut-Ku so much that Bullfangos are more annoying than it. I never got used to fighting Rathalos on forest and hill. My favorite thing about the games is that they give you a quest and its up to you how you get it done, you can do the same quest over and over and make it different every time.
4:56 I saw a frame of the Switch logo then immediately got an Axe ad before seeing more Axe pictures and getting confused
This video makes me so happy! Thank you, Captain, for explaining the series in the most entertaining way possible :D
my first experience with monster hunter was the final fantasy xiv crossover (for the uninitiated, there is a battle instance where you go in with 8 players ((the "extreme" version makes you only go in with 4)) and halfway through the fight you're forced to only use potions to heal rather than your healers.) oh, and, once you defeat him you gather scales from his corpse to craft cosmetic gear and, if you hate yourself, farm it for scales to turn in for a mount version of rathalos. but jeez! i didn't realize just how much of a love letter it was to the game it comes from!!!
this video, i think, was the final little push i needed. the gameplay loop just sounds damn fun-- it's constant progression, which i adore. and man, you're always keeping up with the killer editing and on-beat jokes. looking forward to the mh related videos this month!
I shared this on Facebook with my friends just in case any of them were ever interested in the series but never knew what it was. Well done
"Monster hunter rise: firedeath" fucking killed me.
It's actually happening.
3:38 no no let's talk about the magnet spike that weapon is super cool capcom please I just want frontier in the west...
Frontier shut down in December 2019 even in Japan so RIP it’s not coming out anywhere anymore
Love your humor and editing skills, keep it up!
Monster Hunter is a game where you hunt monsters. 😊
"you know a game is dope, because it has a fishing minigame in it " can I quote you on that.
i remember when i was a kid playing mhfu, i was literally asking all of my friends if they played too.
Ok... monster hunter fire death
Surprisingly close to the sunbreak dlc name
You know you're a real og when you still try to use paintball to track the monster when he's fleeing
just got youtube algorithm'd into this channel but I gotta say I love the style, can't wait for more MH content and whatever other games you're feeling like working on!
I'm so lost, but at the same time so entertained thanks to your evenly spread puns
YEAAAAAAAAAAA ONE OF MY FAVORITE CREATORS TALKING ABOUT ONE OF MY FAVORITE FRANCHISES. I really hope I get to hunt with you in the future!
Awesome! I also got into the series with 4U!
New MH player via Rise, and I really love your videos! Thanks so much! Great humor and It makes getting into the game much easier!
Won’t lie I wasn’t too intrigued before but you have definitely caught my interest 👀
Mission Accomplished hehehe
This is an incredible introduction to the series and very well paced throughout! Def will show my friends to help get them into Rise. Cheers! :D
Hey I started with 4 Ultimate too! I have trouble summing up the game for my friends so this video will come in handy!
"What do you do in Monster Hunter?"
"Are you serious?"
You almost brought me to tears. I am a veteran hunter since MH FREEDOM.
A lot of the comments already said what I have to say
long time hunter
watched this anyway
doesn’t disappoint.
I quit MH because it was too hard many years ago but I got back in like a week because I miss the monsters too much, the monsters are damn well designed.
Great transitions, witty jokes, nice pacing, good overview of mh...
You have gained this random internet person's star of approval! Well done and good job!
Thanks! 😃
Amazing video, perfectly explained, I just remembered the olden days where I played the old games like mhfu, that's really nostalgic
I'm giving this video an A+ and you're gonna Accept it.
I'm literally gonna follow you for the sheer fact your humor is amazing but this video is great too lmao
on a whim i searched for an explanation of monster hunter series. I am glade i found this.

That good riddance joke in regards to underwater combat physically hurt. I need underwater hunting back one day.
1:00 aged well if i do say so myself
When he talks about the music but didn't mention the most epic main theme ever made! But for gods sake this madman played it on the endcard.
I started at World so pretty late and played it on and off started getting into it when I learned Charge Blade been playing Rise since launch been enjoying the hell put of it only weapon I use is my trusty CB and might never find a weapon that I love more than it ❤️
okay i was gonna like the video anyway but actually closed full screen to like immediately when i saw the "i am carving respectively" meme edit. such a small thing and i actually audibly laughed a little
jokes aside great video! i've never played monhun and. honestly probably never will but this video single handedly added the "probably" to the last phrase i wrote so. there's that
edit: okay. no one told me there was a fishing minigame
You’re quickly becoming one of my favorite you tubers
Astronaut your an awesome content creator with a variety of different video games you like to play
Iight iight this dude funny af i am sold and subscribed! Btw Greatsword you could have said "if you wanted to be Cloud and Long Sword for those who want to be Sephiroth the guy who will hit everything and everyone friend or foe" i also think of MH as constant boss battles with a side of grinding
Quick note on the music in these games:
“Proof of a Hero” gives me a feeling like no other song does. Listening to that song is like an overdose of adrenaline and dopamine at the same time
Wow! Thanks for information! I only heard about this game from my friend when i was a kid! Thank you very much bro 👍
MH veteran here , you got me subscribing after the pickle 🥒 and the khezu 😂
I've watched this 7 times now. This now my favorite MH analysis vid
Oh man, this video has the DK + Sephiroth song AND the Dire Dire Docks + WAP? What a video!
I just realized that every dope game has a fishing minigame in it.
Don't worry Shaun, I've played Monster Hunter since the good old PS2 days and I still sometimes forget to eat before embarking on a quest.
I see the channel's transformation has begun.
MONSTA HUNTA MAAAARCH!!
I hunted Yian Kut-Ku so much that Bullfangos are more annoying than it. I never got used to fighting Rathalos on forest and hill. I even remembered thinking that cooking well-done steak was the best way to earn money safely. That and looking through dung to get Yian Kut-Ku scales. Hope we can visit Kokoto again in the future.
"Every dope game has a fishing minigame in it!"
I have never heard truer words spoken, I've only spent 20 hours fishing in Monster Hunter World, time to do the same for GU. This is no longer Monster Hunter, it is now Fish Hunter.
