I would use alcohol as this is better than acetone - less aggressive to rubber, and still a powerful degreaser. I would also use a thinner bead of glue on both sides to jion, let them dry a bit before joining. In my car, the seal was riveted using the hole that is found at the boot (visible also here) that otherwise would would be unused. I have not riveted it yet though. When raising the glass with the door closed there is some rubbing between glass and seal: I will look if this tends to detach the seal, then maybe I will rivet it down.
At the bottom of the strip, where it tucks under, was there a rivet in the B pillar when you took the old weather strip off? I think there is a metal form at the bottom of the strip for a rivet or screw. I am putting on a new strip for my 76 and there is an old rivet after I pulled off the old strip.
I wish I could help you but I honestly don’t remember. Half of this project has been a complete blur. Partly why I’ve been making these videos.. so I can recall what I’ve done. 😃
Nice video...excellent info! Been watching serval with my 80' project.
