    In 2006 I was out there with Duncan's off-road tours and I was helping them assisting with the tours and when we've done the Ord River Crossing we found out when we got to the other side we weren't supposed to go through because the water was 600 mL higher then the safety limit and I still have photo of my vehicle doing that. Now at the Mitchell Falls where the helicopter is and I bet nobody told you that on the way down there is a lookout over a waterfall not far from The Entrance but when you go back onto the track there is a little detour behind two large boulders on your left which takes you to a cutout under the waterfall that has Aboriginal paintings on it just be careful of paper wasps hanging around.

    Australia has become incredibly expensive and travelling is a bureaucratic nightmare. In Thailand I am paying AU $20 to $35 a night for an air conditioned room with en suite. The distances between tourist sites in Thailand is a fraction of those on Oz. Entrance fees, if charged at all are a dollar or so. I remember when beaches were free, and we could camp by a creek or river, it was government land. The plan to monetise Australian tourist sites has permanently destroyed the freedom of travelling what was once the lucky country.
    Travelling with you by video is saving me a fortune, I'm avoiding hours of dust on back breaking roads and seeing the best of Oz.
    Thanks fellas 🇦🇺👍❤️

      Comparing Thailand to Australia price-wise is ridiculous, given the vast differences in cost of living, earnings, etc - all you're doing is taking advantage of the differences with your Australian dollars to live on the cheap, as against the hit a Thai would take to live at the same level, which is the true economic indicator. You might as well offer up a cost comparison to living in Iran with the Rial virtually worthless these days. I had to stay on in Kathmandu a few years ago, due to illness after a long trek, and rented a small apartment for about $100 a month - wohoo! Never mind that Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, that the per capita income is far below poverty level by Australian standards, and the cost of living is peanuts. So hey, let's all move to Nepal with the built-in financial advantages of coming from a first-world economy, an economy that, by and large, has given you that free ride in Thailand off the back of everything that's been built up in the homeland you deride - you don't get that exchange rate for your Aussie dollar for nothing, that's what's giving you your cushy ride. Furthermore, if you look up any number of cost of living charts, you'll see Australia generally ranks at or near the top ten, with Thailand nowhere in sight.
      You want to talk monetizing, try going to India and look at the cost differential between what the locals pay at places like the Taj Mahal versus how much foreigners are shamelessly gouged - ten to fifteen times as much. It goes on just about everywhere, even at the most insignificant sites.
      Your point about distances is also pretty nonsensical, given how much larger Australia is than Thailand, added to which beaches ARE free in the vast majority of cases, right down to Sydney's famous beaches. But hey, let's extrapolate from the few exceptions and present a totally unrealistic perspective, Bob Junie style.
      From the sound of it, particularly your point about saving a fortune in travelling expenses through video viewing, your couch potato ways are exactly in tune with your whining ways and myopic perspectives. You might actually get dust on your shoes if you dared venturing out into that dreaded and heavily monetized outback - we wouldn't want that.

    • @bobjuniel8683
      @bobjuniel8683 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@timwilde4200 That great exchange rate was 34 baht to the Australian dollar, now it is 23.5 baht to the AU dollar. Wonderful Australia's dollar's exchange rate is 30% down on 2014. Professional salaries are lower in Thailand and that accounts for some of the disparity, but not all. Petrol at $2 a litre, electricity is Australian prices, Black Label Johnny Walker the same price as Australia. You are right, an Asian tourist really has to pay high prices, $160 a night in Australia compared to $40 a night for comparable standard accomodation is difficult for many. But there are lots of rich Thais, the propaganda that Australians are rich and Asia is poor is grossly misleading. Thailand builds the cars and motorcycles the most Australian drivers are paying off. The Thai economy is strong due to large scale industry. I can see major improvements in living standards.
      As for the couch potato, after three heart procedures, and compression of the spine from a road accident in Australia, at the age of 80 enjoying TH-cam makes sense. The fact that I watch this channel is intended as a compliment.
      I criticised the poor value for money in Australia. I didn't make personally nasty comments. In Thailand that is considered unacceptable.

    • @timwilde4200
      @timwilde4200 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bobjuniel8683 Clearly you don't know up from down and couldn't grasp the basic economics of my point - that the entire thrust of your initial argument, and which you're still floundering around trying to repeat, is that you're making a side by side comparison of cost of living standards BASED ON THE FACT YOU'RE A TRANSPLANT LIVING IN THAILAND ON YOUR AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS!!! Do you have some kind of intellectual impediment that can't get you past that salient aspect, or is it simply a case of not being able to comprehend the basic incongruity of your point?
      It's a myth and propaganda that Australians are rich and Asians are poor? It's not propaganda to assert the basic economic differences between countries, and you're living proof of it, an ex-pat living a higher standard of living elsewhere based on your AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS and the economy backing it! Still don't get that, Sherlock? Have you ever heard of GDP, or do you need someone to explain it to you? It's the basic metric by which countries around the world are measured economically, using the International (or Geary-Khamis) Dollar as the standard. Australia's per capita income, based on that GDP, is currently about $66,500 based on IMF tables, whereas Thailand's is $23,400, or roughly a third of Australia's - the comparison is even worse if you make the measure based on nominal rates. What that means, in general terms, is that the average person from Thailand trying to live in Australia on that $23,400 would find themselves living in poverty, as it's well below even our basic pension, while cantankerous old farts (not naming any names here) from down under can take their modest Australian savings/pensions/retirement funds and make it go a lot further in Thailand than they could back home - all while dissing the homeland they've turned their backs on and without the foggiest idea why it's working so much to their advantage.
      As for your point about the differences in exchange rates across the years - really? Economies go up and down, as you should know, so it’s a rather asinine point to make, especially across a ten-year span. I’ve lived in the USA for the last 25 years, and when I came here the Aussie was worth an almost all-time low of 58 cents US. Yet it wasn’t that long ago the Australian dollar rocketed up to $1.15US on the back of the mining boom, only to slip back down to where it currently sits at 66 cents. Given the relative strength of the US dollar at the moment, that means my retirement funds when I return to Australia shortly will get me about $1.50 Australian for every US dollar I convert, or to put it another way, about 37 of your precious Baht. Wohoo! Just as you took up the option to live in Thailand, Americans use the strength of their currency to live in places like Costa Rica or Mexico, places where their money goes further than the USA based on all the factors I mentioned - unlike you, most have the good sense to realize why their standard of living is so good in relative terms, as against what it takes for a local to live to the same standard.
      If you STILL can't digest all that, you don’t cross reference basic standards of living across various nations based on income derived from one and spent in another - period - unless your name is Bob Junie and can’t grasp the bleeding obvious. The only measure you have at your disposal is the GDP-backed strength of the Australian dollar and the standard of living it can buy you in other parts of the world. Yours is an ex-pat economy, not a true one, and the citizens of your world are not Australians or Thais but other ex-pats trying to get by on the strength of their own currencies and home economies.
      So instead of trashing Australia and making sweeping generalizations that don't hold up to scrutiny, be thankful you come from a country that has the kind of economic strength to back the currency that affords you the 'cheap' lifestyle in Thailand you’re so boastful about. In other words, don't bite the hand that's feeding your sumptuous lifestyle.

    All those vids were some of my favourite ones and so inspired me to do the same this year. Well, that was what was planned and is still on the list, maybe next year after the road is restored from recent flood damage. Maybe next time you go, it will be sealed all the way. You were all so lucky to experience it at its best. All those stations will need massive support in the future to get back to normal and your guide will go a long way to ensure it does. Thank you, Justin, Bec, Ruie, Billy, and Charli, for the laughs along the way. CHEERS

    As always thanks guys been following you're adventures from your very first post. We are now ready for our adventures and starting with Tassie 29th of April on a one way ticket no idea how long it takes or we would like to stay, anyway I have done as much research as possible in the past couple of years to get us ready but as usual always will learn a lot as we go. Please have a look at our gear to date and advise on anything that might be of an issue or I have missed on the more important items or gear.
    We have a brand new Crusader Excalibur Serenity caravan fitted with a heap of extras on build including Cruisemaster XT suspension 16 inch wheels DO35 hitch ESC dual reversing cameras 480ah Lithium 3 x 170W Solar panels on roof limited space due to Satellite dish but can fit one more panel 1 x 200W portable solar 2000W Enerdrive Inverter RV WiFi and WiTi to keep it safe Projecta management system 2 x 95lt water tanks 1 x 95lt grey water. Our tow vehicle is a 2019 XLT Ranger 3.2 and recently fitted with ARB snorkel TJM Canopy 1 x 75Lt dual zone fridge 1 x sliding drawer 120ah Lithium with Enerdrive 40ah DCDC charger Bendix brake upgrade 2.5 inch Outback Armour full adjustable suspension with 500kg leaf springs Hamer front bar with Runva winch obviously we have just about reached our weight limit but still managed to be bit under with careful and common sense packing. G'day mate. Excellent vids, you have a lovely family. Good on ya's.
    Anyway, was watching one of your vids where you gave a run down of your cruiser and van.
    You said your towing a 4.5 ton van. Is that possible (legally) weight wise, as I thought a cruiser was limited to 3.5 ton.
    We're old buggars and new to caravanning, just curious is all mate. Cheers, keep on cruising, well done 👌
