Semaphore Signal - Working model
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 17 เม.ย. 2020
- In earlier days, Semaphore signals were used by indian railways.
Changing the angle of the arm gives different indications to the train driver.
They are being replaced with more advanced light signals.
We will build a model of this signal with the help of solenoid.
Solenoid is the generic term for a coil of wire used as an electromagnet.
I will take these two paper straws.
One straw is cut into three pieces.
These two pieces are connected together with cellotape to the main straw.
36 gauge coated copper wire is taken. 700 turns are made around this 6 cm long straw piece.
Both ends are tied together and coating removed with sandpaper.
Empty pen refill is cut and it is fixed to the main straw. We will prepare a signal arm from this small straw with the help of pin. When placed in the refill, it can rotate freely.
Let’s take this eraser. We will make two holes. One for the singal pole and one for the winding.
We will use this long needle. It is tied with thread and another end of thread attached to the signal arm.
This pin will arrest the movement of the arm downwards when the screw is inserted at the other end as counterweight.
Signal in this position indicates STOP for the train.
We will paint this paper strip and attach to the signal arm.
Now let us connect this battery holder to the solenoid. It has 4 AA batteries and can provide a potential difference of 6 volts.
When the circuit is complete, solenoid pulls the needle down as a magnetic field is generated.
The device creates a magnetic field from electric current and uses the magnetic field to create linear motion.
This will be active till current is flowing through the solenoid. Opening the circuit, releases the needle and signal returns back to horizontal STOP position.
Do try this at home.
Thank you.

Thanks it helped me much❤
Thank you very much sir great idea explanation and work
Thank you. My son did this model and it worked😊
Glad it helped
Mine is not working
Great 👍
Super thanks u helped my science project
Thanks
Thank you sir
Good explanation
nice work
फारच छान. 👌👌👌👍
Nice video! Explained quite well. Good job!!
Mujhe first prize mila hai is project mein
Congratulations
Thanks man I made this
I got it in my science project thanks guy
Good job. Could be a set up for somebody doing train layouts and wanted to do DIY parts for it. Hope the virus does not find you.... : )
I am fine. Thanks. Hope you are fine as well. Stay Home. Stay Safe !
It is very very bad
Sir We should need a train toy
Nice video I like very much
Thank you so much 😀
Sir wire ki length kitni leni hai?
How does the nail stick to the coil?
When the switch is switched on, the coil acts as a magnet and the nail is attracted towards the magnetic coil
Sri sai students are here
can be made of plastic straws?
Yes. U can use any alternative material
Sir can v use 36 gauge copper wire
Yes
i leared
IS IT NECESSARY TO USE A PAPER STRAW?
Not required. U can use alternative for it as well.
Sir cront kase aaega
Mine not working
Is it necessary to take eraser??
Plz reply
Not really
How many cm of copper wire we have to use
Please tell
🙏🙏
700 turns are enough. Approx. 10 mtr copper wire is enough. It may vary based on the size of straw you use to wind it on.
@@RavindraGodbole thanks
Sir it is not working when I was using a pipe as core please give me solution
Please share picture of your setup. What is the inner diameter of the plastic pipe?
@@RavindraGodbole it's a syringe
@@Xtremehindigaming737 it's large. Use straw or big refill so that inner diameter is similar to that of straw
@@RavindraGodbole can I use empty thread vessel or a juice pipe,?
Mine is not working 😔😔😔
Same here😢
Same
😢
I am also doing this activity in my school can u explain me how to do . I you can explain me then I can do. And this activity I should submit in school before 11/11/2020 old help me
Share ur number on my email. godbolerr@gmail.com
@@RavindraGodbole can u call me
That is not old that is pls
I know it is used in some parts of the world. It will be eventually replaced !
Can you share me the material are need for the project
please send email
Where can I get a solenoid like urs sir ,can you please tell
U have to build it yourself.
Can you please teach me how to build a solenoid because I am 13 years old and I am doing this all first time and I need for my project and my school reopens on 16 may so please help me sir
Please reply fast sir it will be my pleasure if you help me
Please speak hindi
I would have loved to. If you can help me with the translation, I can do this in Hindi as well.
