It's very common for singers that also dance to have "back-up vocals" (which are basically the ones from the record) playing while they perform, but fairly quietly, and then they have a live mic for singing over the top. Madonna pioneered it back in the eighties because it's really hard to sing properly when you're out of breath from dancing. So it's not "mimimg" as such. It's singing over the top of pre-recorded vocals. For this performance the back-up vocals are a little loud (so it sounds just like the record at the start) and then it's obviously revealed to be "on tape" when she drops the mic and the vocals continue.
It's a part of the sound of the vocals. Without the doubling effect on the vocals the bottom falls out of it. Shes singing live but along with other vocals with differing effects and eq Fills the vocal atmosphere into a bigger than life in a live setting :-)
