Looks like Underground 1 can benefit greatly from the custom gearbox tuning Underground 2 had. Seems prohibitive to a fault to not give players that kind of control when there's a high risk of blowing up your engine in most drag races
takedown...I played burnout as a child and when I was playing underground 1 on hard for the first time I began to notice that sometimes opponents would ram me. I did the same and remembered this experience. It helped and it felt like I wasn't playing underground 1

Kinda surprised that Kuru didn't just let go of the gas a bit to avoid overrevving during drag races. Not like we need to rely on the cars' bad gearing to make it to the end at full throttle.
There was Hyundai Tiburon in Auto Modelista (2003). Other than that, not sure. Maybe you'll have more luck searching on reddit. Pretty sure they have subreddits for this
18:30 I think back then you had limitations graphicswise, that nowadays dont exist, so devs used to have a softcap for graphics and had to compensate trough gameplay, nowadays the softlock for graphics is gone and they overfocus on it.
I finished this game on NGC and Xbox over the years, it's much easier on PC due to the better framerate, Xbox is especially trash because it favored graphics over gameplay (NGC other way around). Legendary rubber band AND 15-20fps = hard mod without mods :D
I mean higher refresh rate also makes the racers more insane as how to fps games the higher the refresh rate the more aggressive the tick rates become to ai
