A lot of people thought this was a super bowl preview The oilers showed they could play with them NFC teams this is when the AFC was so inferior to the NFC and this 91 Redskins team is maybe the greatest team of all time been some people's ratings they have them number one they were phenomenal and Houston should have beaten them had Houston won this game maybe they overtake Buffalo that year and get to the super bowl instead of Buffalo because Houston should have won this game they outplayed what some people think is the greatest team of all time
@@SST4SSG You're right honestly these might have been the two best teams in football talent-wise and everything I know the Buffalo bills were loaded so Buffalo was probably the best team in the AFC but this oilers team man for man could match up with anybody in that era and this is when the AFC was weak but the oilers stood up to the NFC as you see here the Redskins were maybe the most overpowering team I've ever seen on both sides of the ball and the oilers matched them physical for physical
@@BruceWayne-ri4wr I'm 50 years old, dude, and I remember, back in the day, how tough that team could be. I'm very thankful that my Redskins did not have to rematch on a neutral field in a Superbowl against them. I'm certain they would have played much better than the Bills did in that game against my team that year. We (Skins) probably might have been big trouble. (If they did so well in the invincible RFK stadium climes of that day ON THE ROAD, who knows how they would have done in Minneapolis?...PS--my dad and older brother went to that game in Minnesota as fans)
Being a native Houstonian & huge Oilers (RIP) fan, I remember this game like it was yesterday. You could hear a collective groan (including yours truly) in my apt. complex when Howfield missed that kick! Naturally, Washington won the game in OT. The next day Howfield was released & replaced by veteran kicker, Al Del Greco, who tuned out to be a pretty reliable kicker for the Oilers/Titans for the next 10 years.
And several organizations have crowned the 91 skins is the best NFL team ever yep and the wheelers had them beating the outplayed them too that was a hell of an oilers team
How did it ever happen that the AFC lost 13 super bowls in a row and how did the NFC end up so much better than them during that era I mean they were light years better than that like when these games would get played back then I was always shocked when the AFC team would even compete against the best of the NFC
I was at that game. It was so loud at RFK as he was getting ready to kick that field goal, you couldn't hear yourself think. What a great day!!!
These oilers uniforms are legendary.

Luv da blue
Hey, old school Oiler fans, I cannot believe that the Redskins got out of this one with their lives in an otherwise perfect season for my team

Takes me back this game. Remember watching this as a Skins fan
The memories 🥲

Nostalgia at its finest. Thank you for this
This was purely just a great football game.
Two terrific teams
Today this would be the Tennessee Titans against the Washington Commanders, not nearly as an exciting matchup now as it was back then
No excuses, he's got to make that field goal. The oilers had them beaten.

Httr. Jus like yesterday..dam
Redskins could run the ball, Oilers didn't even try. They just aren't a running team.
Go redskins
3:17:10 interception Darrell Green
91 redskins best team ever
6:13 probably would get ejected today. Legal then.
Before Howfield could return to Houston he was sacked
The coach had to, there's no reason to miss that field goal when you're about to win the game.
