I lived in Kingston from 71 to 73, (with my parents of course) we just loved it there, one of the most beautiful place on earth) I wish I could go back some day, see our old neighbourhood and thing we loved to visit... I hear it's changed a lot though. Still.
Thanks for sharing this clip :)
Seaga is born of Jamaican parents. He left America at 4 months and was raised and has spent his entire life in Jamaica. SEAGA IS JAMAICAN.
thanks for sharing....
we can bring it back and even better if we make up our minds to do so.
@jamaicanhills Sad but true! We have never recovered since then.
wow this video is so relaxing
@juniorohart "Michael Manley is the worst hurricane to have hit Jamaica"
I feel so proud to be jamaican
@Drealk, you couldn't be more wrong with that statement. If you look at the true political history of Jamaica, it was the JLP and Edward Seaga who caused the downfall of jamaica, before Michael Manley as leader of the PNP. From the speech he gave in the 1960's at Heroes Circle, "We will fight with fire." Michael Manley's plan was no communism. It was a social democracy. The same system which is used in the current countries of England, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland among other major countries.
His country a well-endowed island of 2,000 square miles, with several mountains in the center, where coffee and other sub-tropical crops are grown. They had beautiful holiday resorts built by Americans as winter homes...A Chinese Jamaican, speaking Caribbean English came up. "You mustn't forget us. We are having a very difficult time.... He was a real estate agent...Many professionals and business people had left for America and Canada and had given him their homes and offices to sell.
Oh-the Jamaican Folk Singers! How I miss them.
Out Of Many,Come One People. This is the the motoe of our coat of arms.I understand most of this man is saying, but someone should translate what he is saying, because this is the Jamaica I left ,in 76 is makes me home sick to watch this.Peace and Love Mi gone...............T.Man
Under Michael Manley' 1972 to 1980, the economy lost 17.5 per cent of its GDP; the national debt increased J$300m toJ$3,000m; inflation ballooned by 250%; revenues remained constant while expenditure galloped by 66 %; the budget deficit increased from 3.9% to 17.5 % of GDP, investment buckled by 40 % of GDP; foreign exchange reserves were eviscerated, collapsing from US$239 m to negative US$549m; and unemployment increased by more than 43 per cent, moving from 182,000 to 271,000!
No, his father is born in Jamaica of Syrian descent, and his mother is a white Jamaican. Both his parents are Jamaicans.
Thx
Exact year of the video? Thanks
He was born to a member of the American Armed Services based on the Panama Canal, which was American controlled (under the U.S. flag). Though one gets American citizenship through an American born parent (either/both) one who gains American citizenship cannot be president, so does not have full benefits. If your version were correct, birthers would have no basis regardless of where the prez was born, because his mom was American.
Your parents aren't American, if they were, no you would not be deported. If a child is born of American citizens in a country other than America, that child is still American. John Mccain was born in Panama yet still ran for the American presidency, why? Because even though born in Panama, being of American parents still makes him fully an American. Well, it's the same of Seaga. He's a Jamaican.
I love my sweet sweet Jamaica still the best country in the world
tru i born there an knw even thou i am a rasta but JLP with seaga who is an american who created tivoli gardens
Manley and PNP mash-up Jamaica.
the infamous Blood for Blood speech
Chinese, Indians and even black Jamaican professionals felt there was no future under the left-wing socialist government of Michael Manley. The policies of the government were ruinous.... Thereafter, i read the news of Jamaica with greater understanding." - Lee Kuan Yew --- Page 364, From Third World to First The Singapore Story: 1965-2000
I have read Mr. Lee's book. The irony is that he preached self reliance for Singapore. He did not accept "aid" from foreign governments - only investment. That was part of what Manley was trying to do!
