How to make Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani in pressure cooker | Make Eid special dum biryani at home

  • Learn how to make Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani in pressure cooker from scratch. This video has 14 special tips and an easy method to make a very flavourful and authentic Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani. No biryani masala, essence or food colour is required. Anyone with basic cooking skills can make this scrumptious biryani. Do try and enjoy with your friends and family.
    Serves : 4 to 5 people
    Shelf life: 1 to 2 days
    INGREDIENTS:
    To make fried onion:
    1. Onions, medium, thinly sliced - 2 or 3
    2. Oil to deep fry onions
    To marinate:
    3. Chicken - 400 to 500 gms
    4. Ginger-garlic paste - 3 tbsp
    5. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
    6. Pure chilli powder - 1 tsp
    7. Bay leaf - 2
    8. Cinnamon stick - 2 or 3
    9. Green chillies, slit - 4
    10. Mint leaves - 1.5 handfuls
    11. Coriander leaves - 1.5 handfuls
    12. Salt - to taste
    13. Thick youghurt / curd - 3 tbsp
    14. Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
    15. Royal cumin powder (karunjeergam / kaala / shah jeera) - 1/2 tsp
    For rice:
    16. Basmati rice - 500 gms
    17. Cloves - 4
    18. Mace (Javithri) - 1 small piece
    19. Star anise - 1
    20. Bay leaf - 1
    21. Salt - for rice, to taste
    22. Water - to cook rice
    23. Lemon juice - from 1/2 lemon or 1 tbsp
    Other ingredients:
    24. Ghee - 2 tsp
    25. Mint leaves - 2 tbsp
    26. Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp
    27. Saffron strands - 2 pinches

    One query..don't need to put water in cooker, are you sure chicken will not burn

      The water in chicken and the 3/4 cup water added will prevent the chicken from getting burnt
