Cecil might want to know that Peener and Miker Miles have been collaborating with you on the short film projects as fake partners to lure real ones. Just sayin'. And definitely following Cecil. Sorry ahead of time.
A Blair Witch movie that starts off with Tony looking for porno in the woods...
The tall creature I think is Elly Kedward, the character in the lore who’s arms were stretched when killed. I think its assumed that Elly Kedward is the Blair Witch
Or the Blair Witch is using her as a puppet
There’s a theory that the creature IS heather, just being used as a puppet for the witch
That is crazy! I'm going to check that out now.
I've been following GoodBadflicks for years now, one of my favourite channels ever,so this is a crossover i'm incredibly excited to witness! Big Tony fan btw
It's really cool to see a movie review with Cecil on-camera here.
As a huge legacy Blair Witch fan from the very beginning, I thought this was a very worthy and well done sequel. Genuine tension and horror. Loved it.
It wasn’t a space man or a space ship. That was the sun rising and setting very quickly because the witch is able to manipulate time. So she speeds through the daylight to make sure it stays night.
When they started introducing time manipulation, I thought they were going to do something where they indirectly interact in some way with Heather, Mike and Josh during the events of the first film.
Play the Blair witch volume 1: rustin parr game on PC that came out in the early 2000’s, it has exactly what you’re talking about, the main character witnesses the ending of the movie while investigating the parr murders…in the 40’s
That movie worked totally for me, no scare was cheap, nothing was unintentionally funny and especially the sounds who your said were too loud made the whole thing just more like there is realy something weird going on, almost like it's the spell of the witch.
And the witch is one of the most eerie, creepy things I've seen with her long limbs and how she mooved through the woods, and because of her appearence she easily could hide behind trees and the sounds she makes.
This movie scares the shit out of me every time, for me this is one of the most effective horror movies I've seen.
Not even Hereditary scared me as much as this movie did.
Damn it Tony you were supposed to have Trisha and go to Burkitsville with her dressed as Kim "in my mind's eye" director, and you were supposed to dress up as that sheriff that tells everyone THERE IS NO GOT DAMN WITCH!
:( And no stickman tattoo reveal.
Cecil being here was great. I'd love if you're able to get Brandon Tenold on here. Granted he's in Canada so it may be a while
Brandon is the man! He could totally be on a Castzilla vs The Podcast if that ever comes back
Good Bad Flicks, Hack the Movies, Frank??!! This video is getting a like right now!
In the first one, the footage was “found” in what appeared to be the foundation to a house. It was also buried underground but when they found it, even though it had been buried, apparently the ground seemed to have been completely undisturbed. So it was a mystery about how the film got underground when it was apparent that the ground hasn’t been touched in decades….Allegedly.
Cecil! I’ve been a subscriber & Patreon supporter of Cecil’s for many years. GBF is one of my favorite channels, if you’re not familiar with it go check him out. Absolutely fantastic content!
Love the TH-camr/Podcast flex of "bring that mic a little closer to you".
Real alpha move: let's the guest know who's in charge.
I kinda like this movie. There’s some corny dialogue and the characters aren’t anything special, but if you’re gonna do a Blair Witch sequel almost 20 years later, I don’t think it could have turned out much better than this.
I never knew that there was a 2016 version of The Blair Witch Project.
It turned out that the most interesting thing about it was that no one knew it was coming out until about a month before it was coming out, and then it came out, and it was nothing special, and then people went right back to forgetting that it even existed.
I know right. And I am from md
I have a Columbia jacket from the 2nd movie
Iirc it was known as The Woods when released at festivals.
They should have kept that name so it was a surprise..
I personally enjoy the movie and would welcome more Blair Witch....
@@VampireJack10 It was The Woods until San Diego ComiCon or something when it was revealed to be a secret Blair Witch movie, which ended up being the most interesting thing about it. I worked at a theater and have a full set of The Woods posters, which culminated in the last one basically being the Blair Witch poster before they threw the stick doll on it. It wouldn't have done any better if it had been kept a secret, because even when people KNEW it was Blair Witch, they still kept away from it.
This movie had some of the dumbest victims ever. What’s with the girl that seemed like she was going to be possessed or something being the one to climb that tree to get the drone that never worked in the first place, and then dying like an idiot? Also, this takes place in a world where the main character has SEEN the original footage, where they could see all the mistakes that the last group made that led to their deaths, and then they proceed to do the exact same things. Hey, you know how your sister messed with the rocks and was never seen again? Maybe don’t mess with the rocks.
Oh we get into ALL of that!
It would have been awesome to see the beautiful Trisha on a review again! We get to see her so seldomly and she's a delight each time she's been on 😭😭😭. Her brother seems pretty chill so he's a good guest as well at least
Blair Witch 2016 is definitely one of the films ever.
I wanted to watch this to see if you guys caught anything different that I did.
Gotta give you credit, lots of great information in the beginning about the film.
Unfortunately the show kinda fell off topic and my ADD was like “nope” 😅lol
Cecil is one of my favorite people on the internet. Hack the Flicks!
I think there was some subtle time manipulation in the original, because the Rustin Parr house was supposed to have been destroyed by the time they are filming their documentary, but obviously they come across and enter it.
Also I think the film tape of the original film may have been found under the remains of the wall of the destroyed house but I'm not sure
As much as the graphics and quality weren't there at the time, the old Windows PC 'Blair Witch' games were pretty good in adding to/telling the history and mythology surrounding Burkittsville and the Woods themselves, and essentially blaming all the evil in the Woods on an ancient Native American spirit/demon called Hecaitomix.
Developed by Terminal Reality, they were named Blair Witch Volume I: Rustin Parr, Blair Witch Volume II: The Legend of Coffin Rock and Blair Witch Volume III: The Elly Kedward Tale.
No sign of any 'found footage' or kids getting lost in the woods in these games :D
Honestly I actually really liked this movie.
It reminded me of As Above, So Below which is one of my favourite movies.
Can we get Terrifier 1 & 2 Reviews pls?
I have a Columbia jacket from the filming of the second movie. It's has embroidery of the stick figures and says something about the witch is back...I think from what I remverm even cooler it turns into a back pack pack
..for sale..
Tony please review The Scooby-Doo Project. It's a Scooby Doo Blair Witch parody. It's really great don't miss out!
We reviewed the first live action Scooby-Doo movie and I mentioned it
So glad Trisha's brother decided to do this review before searching for his missing sister I would of done the same hope he finds her and is well. 😉😝😎
Hey Frank. Congrats on being a future uncle. I follow your sister on ig
A Blair Witch Reboot and No Trisha? I hope Tony didn't lose her in the woods.
She went missing, so now her brother is taking up the quest to find her! I just hope that it’s confirmed along the way that Riley is super never coming back, as we haven’t seen him since one of the earlier Blair Witch reviews.
I think she just went looking for woods porn, Trisha knows whats up now.
I miss trish 😢
Blair witch 2016 is not a reboot it's a sequel to the 1st film as it has the woman who went missing her brother is trying to find her and find out what happened so not a reboot.
I'm glad my pen holder is getting proper use =>
We were painting a room in my house red with black and yellow trim. My brother was helping which was nice. He drew stick figure men from Blair Witch all over the walls with the red paint. I asked why he was doing Blair Witch. He had no idea what that image was fun but thought it was fun to draw. We painted over them,.
This movie definitely had potential. Adam Wingard is great, and the story wasn’t half bad. The studio just needed to commit to whether or not it was gonna be found footage. There are some genuinely creepy moments in Blair Witch (2016) and I wish that we could get a nice modern retelling that brings us horror fans together at the theatre again.
So here are the details this video leaves out:
First, the stick creature is Elly Kedward and the chick that got the nasty foot cut was turning into the same thing Elly Kedward turned into. Elly Kedwars is NOT the Blair Witch, the blair witch is what controlled Kedward. On the bluray commentary, Wingard and Simon said they wouldn't say who the stick creature was but years later the writer dropped that it was Kedward. Kedward can be spotted very early on when Peter gets lost/messed with - you can see a very quick shot of her. The map and cameras from the first movie are in the house at the end - this was confirmed by Wingard in the bluray commentary, but he wouldn't say exactly where they're at in the house. Elly Kedward is the only monster in the movie.
I always assumed the monster was a Wendigo
The original felt more real, genuine, constrained, and the ultimate don't-show-leave-it-up-to-the-imagination movie. This one just sounds like an over-produced cash grab. Good to see Frank again, by the way.
The Saturday after this film was released. I went to the first showing that morning. I was the only one in the theater and it was quite enjoyable. The sound was amazing. I enjoy this sequel quite a bit. Hell, I even enjoy Book of Shadows.
Still waiting for a video on all the Godzilla merch in the cabinet!
Awesome episode!! I agree with Frank a lot. I try not to be too critical, and I enjoyed the fight scenes in the new MK movie as well.
Valerie Curry was also in the following and if you haven’t seen it she was amazing in it and that is amazing show and it was by Kevin Williamson
Nice To see Frank again😊
1. Just a brief mention The Bare Wench Project 1-5.
2. As Tony moves during this performance, the character on the shirt appears to be speaking too.
HUGE fan of GoodBadFlicks!!!
what? no Trisha? 😢
I wish they had either 1) cut Blair Witch 16 down to 75 minutes because there is too much exposition and filler or 2) did an anthology format that follows different stories surrounding the Blair Witch universe. '16 felt too much like a hollywood remake as opposed to a direct sequel. There is so much expanded lore beyond the first film, so just revisiting the same story beats as the original film feels like a waste of potential.
This Hackthemovies episode is a Goodbadflick
I'm usually willing to give bad movies a chance. Might check this out sometime. I did manage to sit through "Terror at Bloodfart Lake" and its sequel. How bad could Blair Witch (2016) be?
Hopefully Frank brings Trisha back safe and sound.
People who hate The Blair Witch Project: "It's boring, the characters aren't likeable, and nothing happens until the end."
Blair Witch (2016): "Hold my stick figure."
I’m not misremembering things in saying that the new characters, who saw the footage of what happened to the original characters, made all the same mistakes and did all the same stupid shit, right? Like, they absolutely deserved every horrible thing that happened to them in this movie?
@@kidcrossfire3489 Lol. 😄 Yeah. It really felt like a remake with the new characters doing the same exact things that the characters from the 1999 movie did.
It even has video of the 2016 characters being recorded as they're introduced towards the beginning just like the 1999 movie.
I hated this film.
Well in all honesty The Blair Witch Project is god awful, I've never understood what people saw in it OR the ones that claimed it was a masterpiece of "horror". It was 3 people bitching at each other in the woods for 90 minutes. Its not even boring its just irritating watching 3 people bitch about everything, who lost the cigarettes, who lost the map, how did they get lost, blaming each other for getting lost..... I've had group trips to Disneyland that were almost the exact same thing and all without finding any imaginary witches. The nothing happens till the end thing is hilarious too, nothing even happens at the end.
That MTV commercial Book of Shadows sequel is somehow even worse.
This movie felt like someone took the original script and threw in as many "cool moments" of other horror franchises like The Ruuns and the plants.
A whole thing of the Blair witch traveling through time shows cave paintings of her when she attack cave people. Or picture of her goin after the Roman's. Call it witch in time.
Where's the Blair Witch superfan?
She's in Italy?
It took me years to be able to finish watching The Blair Witch Project. I found it so boring that I would just fall asleep every time I tried to watch it 😂. Upon finally finishing it, I wished I had just fallen asleep again because I found it just as boring right up until the end. Because of that I had no interest in seeing the reboot/sequel. The only reason it even did so well is because a lot of people thought it was real, which is stupid because I knew the minute I saw the preview for the first time that it wasn't real because a film with real people being actually murdered would never be shown in theaters nationwide, just like snuff films aren't shown in theaters nationwide 😂😂😂. I really wanted to like it because I love found footage movies and Blair Witch pretty much started the whole craze, but it's just not that good a movie to me personally.
Also, I kept thinking of Grave Encounters during this entire review and then they actually talked about it so I was pretty excited because I love both Grave Encounters movies. Glad it got a mention!
Personal and business TH-cam accounts don’t share each other’s subscriptions, i guess, is why Tones wasn’t subscribed, idk, maybe it was the Witch gaslighting Tonz?
HAHAHAHHA Tony talking made the Joker's mouth move too. HAHAH.
Yaaaaaay!!!! Frank!!!!
Man! I really liked Frank on this episode! He has some killer insights to small nuances that I sometimes miss. Definitely have him back for more horror stuff. Thanks 🤘😈
Frank is excellent
I'll say this while Maryland and Kentucky were not part of the Confederacy
Both states were considered honorary members
hey I recognise that voice, it's Good Bad Flicks!
The Blair Witch feels more like As Above So Below than Blair Witch Project.
Hey! Cecil is here!
Cloverfield Paradox was actually good IMO.
Isn't this a sequel?
It's a re-quel I guess
No Trish for a Blair witch video???? This is blasphemy
You know I didn't hate it, but you can't recapture what the original did
twig guy is obviously Elly Kedward. How did yall not get that? At the campfire they talk about how the townsfolk tied rocks to her arms and legs as she hung her from tree. hence the limbs. and that bright light is a slowed down strike of lightening!!! catch up (: jk
They did mention it, then they said how the writer (or director) said no it's one of her victims
32:40
Whoa you got Cecil on?! Hell yeah!
As a Southerner who listens to a lot of black metal, death metal, and nu metal who also has Pagan tattoos, a serpent tattoo, _and_ a dragon tattoo it seems like the Italian boy hates me and thinks I'm a clan member. Lol. Little judgy there, are we?
Oh shit! Cecil! Good bad flicks is awesome! I love that dude. His obscure opie and anthony references are the best!
Liiiiinger longer :)
Please make Jessica do more photoshops, they're fantastic.
Exists is a fun found footage film from the maker of the original Blair witch. I also like altered from eduardo Sanchez. Either of which I would like to see you talk about
2021 hack the movies choices > 2022
Hey Cecil!
GOOD, BAD, FLICKSSSSS
Nice!
Project, The Blair Witch Project. Just saying Blair Witch and not actually addressing the original film title is half the reason this franchise failed. No gravitas.
21:00 you’re not with cinemassacre anymore? I didn’t even realise.
Not since like early 2021 haha. Still work with some of the guys and get along with everyone. Even saw James at a convention a few weeks back.
If none of the girls are co-hosting I'm not watching. Period .
My favorite movie channel host invited to my not favorite but still very liked movie channel!
@HackTheMovies Tony, you're not doing work with Cinemassacre anymore? This makes me a saaaad panda.
Hahha how is this news to people? I haven't been there in forever.
@@HackTheMovies I see. I just kinda thought you guys did your own content with screenwave being the parent company. Anyway, I fall asleep to your reviews so I'm not complaining haha.
Movie was ok I guess. Only thing about it worth watching was the crawling-in-the-tunnel scene.
PLOT TWIST: Trisha actually got lost in the Rudy Ray Moore Mountains
I tried to do the fan edit of 2 and I put a live cover of witchcraft by Siouxsie and the banshees at the beginning
and i put that weird Jeff in the hospital scene at the post credits, so like now that happens after they are arrested.
Just so happened to rewatch this movie last night, I watched it originally when it came out. What a shitty remake, the most annoying thing about the movie was the main girl yelling every line and all the "jump scares."
Man this movie was unwatchable, and I watch plenty of bad movies! They got rid of everything that made the original enjoyable and didn't replace it with anything good. It was a struggle to stick it out to the end.
Where’s James Rolf put him on!!!
Blair Witch (2016) is scary.
I love the victim which thing and i love this movie i love you
Never seen the movie. Do they find porn in the woods?
None of the resident scream queens?
Thank God we got The Boys instead of The Tick lol
Of all things to reboot: Why Blair Witch?
I don't like any of the BW movies and have no particular intention to re-watch any of them, but I found this the most tolerable. I hate the first one. At least this one, which was still annoying, had less annoying shaky cam and acting and no snot-nosed girl .
Omfg talk about the movie and story itself. Not the fucking cameras they did or didnt use.
#bringbackthefuckingtick
I don't know still got me thinking it's decent
oh hell yeah this is awesome
True.
More Thanksgiving garb Tony
I love when Hack the Movies covers horror. I hope Hereditary gets talked about too!
Frank is always a good guest on this show. More Tony, Trisha and Frank episodes.
Making a remake/reboot of the original Blair Witch is a silly idea. Honestly, even the sequel was a really silly idea. Blair Witch was a pretty unique film for its time (I know it's not the first found footage film, but still) and it holds up really well. Trying to catch that lightning in a bottle twice just doesn't work, no matter how you approach it.
I guess from a business point of view it makes sense to reboot it, but even then the 2016 film came out too late. The new found footage craze started by films like Paranormal Activity had already passed by that point.
Not every single successful film needs to be or can be a franchise, no matter how lucrative it might sound to all the studio execs who are desperately going through their files just to see what licenses they own and can cash in on.
