This channel deserves a lot more than 52 subscribers and I am happy to do my part. I loved Bad Dudes when I played it in my local arcade back in the day, but looking back it's crap compared to Final Fight which was released a year later. FYI there is a Data East collection on Switch along with other individual Data East games that go on sale occasionally.

I love the idea behind the Evercade and really want to like it. I can see why it would be a good system for fellow retro game fans, especially those who like having their games on physical media. Personally, I can't justify to myself investing in the Evercade ecosystem. I find the system to be kind of meh / generic and the games offered seem very hit and miss, although to the credit of the system the cartridges are at least priced reasonably as long as you enjoy most of the selection. However, when it comes to retro gaming I am a pragmatist and like to get the best bang for my retro buck, and in my own opinion nothing about the Evercade makes a case for getting one when a modded 2DS or Vita does the same things and more. The Evercade is an emulation machine in a sea of emulation machines with the only difference being a propriety cartridge format and games that are actually licensed. Yes, downloading old ROMs is a grey area that not everyone wants to dabble with, but I wish the Evercade had a killer app or feature that would set it apart other than having licensed retro games on it's own physical media format. To each their own and I am happy for those who enjoy their Evercades. As someone who collects obscure retro consoles (Vectrex, Astrocade, Channel F, etc.) I wouldn't rule out getting one for myself at some point if the situation changes. Either way, I still enjoy following the Evercade and retro gaming in general, and am happy that I found and subscribed to this channel. :-)

Agree with your overall score for this collection and your comments regarding it but I LOVE Bad Dudes VS Dragon Ninja. The dumb storyline, sound effects, fraphics and overall presentation are the most late 80's thing ever and the gameplay is tight enough to make it fun to play. I also like the fact that you have to defeat every boss again on the last level to complete the game.
Genuinely my favourite game on the collection.

As always, I appreciate the brutality and witheringly critical attitude on this channel, but I'm surprised that you were so generous toward _Sly Spy,_ given that the gameplay has *most* (perhaps all?) of the same flaws as _Bad Dudes vs. Dragonninja,_ but the latter has two player co-op, whereas the former does not. IMO, they are both games to be laughed at, rather than laughed with, and they're both painfully repetitive after three or four minutes of play… _BUT NEVERTHELESS_ they're enjoyable as… art objects… even for people who have no nostalgia for the peculiar artistic style (and historical moment) they represent.

Probably more of a critique of the collection on a whole rather than praise for sly spy. It was a very generous 7

BurgerTime - For those who don't know, if you drop a hamburger piece with an enemy is walking on it, that piece will fall two levels, you'll get extra points and the enemy will disappear for a few seconds.
Gate of Doom - A non-forced scrolling arcade shooter without a timer? How did that happen?

I guess it's sort of like Gauntlet from a different perspective. I'd be surprised if it was popular in the arcade though, especially the sequel. It's fun on here, but you literally die within seconds that it would have cost a fortune in continues.

Bad Dudes was part of my childhood. I would gladly dire $5 in quarters at Bad Dudes today.

Chain Reaction is a hidden gem for several reasons: it was buried (and thus hidden) by its sequels… and contrary to popular belief, the sequels are WORSE games (not better) although they have better graphics and animations (etc.). Chain Reaction differs from the other games you compare it to and instead resembles Puyo Puyo in one crucial regard: the challenge of setting up multiple-step chain reactions. If you have a girlfriend/wife willing to build up the skill in it, then the two player mode has tremendous longevity… and again, I *would not* say this about the sequels (that just became a contest of sheer speed: whoever reacts the fastest wins). IMO, there isn't a single game in this genre anyone should play alone (would you really spend quality time sitting alone with Sega's _Columns?)_ so you pretty much need to evaluate them all as multiplayer games.

I would and have spent quality time sitting alone playing columns in my game gear. Love it
