    The 10th generation Honda Accord has been making waves in the automotive industry. The midsize sedan market has many entrants but this, and the Toyota Camry, are the segment leaders in terms of sales.
    I reviewed the Honda Accord Touring 1.5 last year and thought it was brilliant, the largest issue I had with the car was the looks. I don't think I will ever see this car as good looking. But, the design of the car is only judged based upon the individual looking at it.
    The press car I have is the top of the line, the Touring with the 252hp 2.0L turbocharged 4-cyclinder uses a 10 speed auto and in this spec, costs CAD$40, 671.

    You had me up to the "not a pretty car" comment. I know I'm watching this 2 years after the fact, but come on! The Accord is the best looking mid-size sedan in North America! I dropped Chevy after 25 years of commitment to get me a 2020 Accord. It took a really special car to make that happen.

    • @webcomment8895

      @@efthimios That was true in the 90's. Honda is no longer neck and neck with Toyota for reliability. It's dropped down the list and has been overtaken by many other now more reliable brands.
      Toyota/Lexus manages to stay on top, but Honda let their quality and reliability slip.
      Taking a chance with a turbo Honda is risky.

    Well done mate, however, I would have compared the Accord with the BMW 5 series and MB E Class. Not 3 series & C class. The reason is the Accord, 5 series and the E class are all mid-sized sedans, but the C, 3 series are compact or small-size sedans.

    The engine sound you are hearing is artificially piped in through the vehicles speakers, similar to what BMW, Ford and other manufactures do with turbo 4,s since they dont sound very tough compared to v-6 and v-8s. Hopefully the new powertrain wont have any direct injection carbon build up issues, and prove to be as reliable as the old v-6, we will give Honda the benefit of the doubt for now.

    We are looking at the Accord // Touring // 2.0 and 1.5 for the 2018 year..... we have looked at the prices and it seems like 2019 doesn't have a 1.5 option. Is there any reason engine or parts wise for fixing the 1.5 would be an issue? Your thoughts ????

    • @maxlandireviews
      @maxlandireviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It appears that the smaller engines have been burning through more oil and causing some reliability woes. Honda appears to be on aware of the issue but if you're looking at the 2L anyways, that may be the safer bet at this moment in time

    I went for the 1.5 mainly for the price tag. $22.5K. you can eliminate the "rubber band" effect of the CVT by using the paddle shifter. I found it useful when passing someone on the freeway. Even in a normal mode you can downshift once if you need the extra umph then it will go back to D mode automatically without upshifting! You can thank me.

    Thanks for the review. You didn't directly recommend your choice between the 1.5T and 2.0T. Do you think that the 2.0T justifies the extra money given that it has lower fuel economy as well.

    • @maxlandireviews
      @maxlandireviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Between the 2 engines, I enjoyed my time more with the 2.0 but I found the 1.5 more impressive. I personally do a LOT of highway miles, so the fuel efficiency is a large contributing factor in my car life. The 2.0 is a $3000 upgrade so I know I will get more out of the 1.5 within that additional fuel money. But don’t get me wrong, I like/dislike both powertrains for different reasons. That’s why I kept my thoughts out of the video, haha

    • @AashimGupta15
      @AashimGupta15 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you. Makes sense. I have a similar situation with a lot of miles every year It is heartening to know that you found the 1.5T impressive despite it having less power. Interestingly, have you driven the Toyota Camry 2018? I was curious to know your opinion of performance comparison between the Accord's 1.5T vs Camry 2018's 2.4 NA.

    • @maxlandireviews
      @maxlandireviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I have driven the 2018 Camry, as the I4 and the V6. I would take the accord over the Camry as I really prefer the interior of the Honda. I found that with my SE Camry, the transmission was a bit clunky from time to time and that had the eight speed

    • @maxlandireviews
      @maxlandireviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I made my decision last week. Picked up a '20 Accord Touring 2.0T with 7k miles on it. I like the car a lot but I will have to say it is going to take some getting used to. It's a totally different driving experience than a naturally aspirated V6. I will likely keep the car 15-20 months and then get back into an Acura. I want a TLX Type S very badly!

    If they put 2.5 L with 300 HP naturally aspirated engine this will be a big step among the little 2 letters turbo engines 🤔

    • @hoppingturtle

      wouldn't doing that make it necessary to purchase 91 octane instead of regular? I don't know about you, but here in Vancouver, the gas prices are BRUTAL! 91 octane is pushing $7/gal

      Care to tell the engineers at Honda how to get 300hp out of a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder while making it reliable and affordable to the general buyer public?

    Honda performance guys prefer the 1.5. It can be modified with less worry and the 2.0 has a history of blown head gaskets. Personally, with the turbo and all the electronic gadgets, I don't expect the latest generation Accord to last as long, and be as reliable, as the old ones. I have owned a 1986, 2006, and now a 2019 Accord.

      You do know that the 2.0T (K20C) is a relatively new engine, right?

    • @2.0taccord
      @2.0taccord 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a new design and a first for turbo charging besides the K23 in the Acura RDX. Furthermore the K series uses MLS head gaskets which on ANY vehicle aren't prone for failure.
      Secondly the performance "guys" are using the higher output 2.0T because it has more headroom for power and has the Civic type R turbo swap for opportunity.

      cliby25 that guy is a troll. He post the same shit on every single accord video. If you hate the car so much why go out of your way to find accord videos and post the same shit on someone's video that's clearly trying to build a channel...so no, that didn't "escalate quickly" nice assumption on the fanboy comment though.

    • @PLATINUM2U
      @PLATINUM2U 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      troll_patrol 1983 you've harrassed me on every Toyota and Lexus video I comment on. I see you recycle those same comments to everyone.. just quit it. It's ugly. Just admit it for once 😂🤣😂🤣 you'll actually feel better

    • @getajob1411
      @getajob1411 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PLATINUM you are definitely not one to be talking about recycling comments and or links. I'll leave it at that. What's the sole purpose of commenting the same exact thing on every video? Just curious? Looks are subjective and if it's so ugly to you why bother saying it on every video or even watching it. I get you're a Toyota fan but why shit on other brands? Like I said before, I also own a Toyota and a Honda. Only time I comment is when I see the same people saying the same exact thing over and over again. (Hence the name Troll Patrol) the bias people show actually makes a manufacturer and their fan base look bad. I think you have a hard time seeing that. Either way, I'm just being honest here and not trying to offend. Take what you want from it. I personally like Toyota just as much as I do Honda. Me commenting and going against Toyota just shows how far people will go to try to defend the brand. Good day.

    This car looks acceptable in silver, but in other colors I just could not tolerate it. In white it is a disaster. Honda should hire new sheet metal designers from Europe and America to get away from the unibrow look.
