One year ago I began my journey of reducing sugar and exercising intermittent fasting. I’ve lost 70 pounds with only about ten to go. I feel amazing. It wasn’t easy, but it was absolutely worth it. Your videos helped me a lot to understand how things worked and why it was so important to stay on track. Thank you. ❤

That’s what I was just reading about and as someone with digestive problems, you don’t want long term Gastroparesis! I see nothing but health problems down the road for people taking this stuff. Maybe we should get all the high fructose corn syrup out of all our food and act make fresh foods and vegetables affordable for everyone. People just need to make the choice to eat better and be more active . Fresh fruits and vegetables are fairly cheap . If people quit buying all the junk foods like soda , chips , candy cakes and donuts etc then they would easily be able to buy fruits and vegetables.

I lost 45 pounds and 8 inches in my waistline by cleaning up my diet, reducing sugar to just fruit, and working out 4-5 days on weight training machines. This is the easiest thing I have ever done and the most fun I have ever had. I'm 70 years old and have the body of a woman more than half my age. I get a ton of attention and have more energy than I can ever remember having. No shots, no pills, no powered drinks, no calorie counting, no meetings, no BS. My diet is centered around protein and little if any processed foods. Sugar is addictive and makes me crazy for it so I avoid it most of the time. I have a lot of muscle now and muscle is sexy on everyone. It's amazing how much better I look and how much better I feel. Never going back to the old me.

But on it for more than 15 years.
Fortunately, I was able to get off, and stay off.
Took me over 7 months to wean from it.
2 years later, I’m a thousand times better.
I put it to my supplements, and healthier lifestyle.
      And I’m down 50+ lbs.

Recently, I went in for a gynecological appointment and was discussing weight gain as a result of post menopause. I am probably about 40 pounds overweight, but I was astounded by the sales pitch, my physician gave me for Ozempic.
It was so disturbing to me that my physician would push a pharmaceutical on me over any other solution for weight loss. Trust me, I thought about it for a moment because it is tempting, but deep down, I knew something didn't smell right.

Been on phentermine (weight loss pill) in the past multiple times and just got off of monjouro because ive reached my goal weight, but of course the weight is slowing returning. Im so tired of yo-yo'ing with my weight. Today i looked in the mirror and hated what i saw cause i see the weight gain (10 lbs so far). But what bothers me the most is feeling out of control. When this Dr. clearly and genuinely said it wasnt my fault, ive felt a huge sense of relief. Yes ive known about food companies purposely making food addictive, but to hear the words "its not your fault" really made me feel ALOT better. Still gonna continue to fight the addiction without meds (by eating as best as I can and currently in the gym). Thank you Dr.

Hard to argue. That being said, it’s been a life-saver for my wife, who has mental health issues and could only keep junk food down. 1.5 years later, 55 lbs down, exercising daily. Still morbidly obese, but can now walk 10000 steps a day when she couldn’t do 500 2 years ago. Quality of life is much better. I’m comforted that she sees dr who prescribed it every 2 weeks, but I get that long term studies are absent and the jury is out. Quality of life beats quantity, and quality is back. We want everything easy and quick . Often, that's exactly where it starts going wrong. 😔 Last year (at age 54) I decided to improve my health and made it my goal. I went on keto for about 3 months, did light exercise every day, stopped snacking in between meals and did everything I could to ensure good sleep. Wow. Loosing weight was not even my goal, but it happened. And very quickly. I started getting a bit too skinny for my taste, so I stopped keto and started including a bit of carbs. My heart health improved and my looks as well. I did my blood test and paid extra for vitamin D test and then planned my diet accordingly and included a few good quality supplements and herbs where needed. I did not take supplements every day, unless the blood test showed an actual deficiency. Didn't take any drugs. I had to make an effort, but it wasn't too hard, and it absolutely paid off. Be healthy, friends. Good luck!

If you yourself have not experienced this, you can’t speak on it. I have struggled with weight and insulin resistance. I tried the “bariatric diet” then had a VSG surgery. The outcome of that was I developed gastric dumping which raised my blood sugar tremendously; regularly. Mounjaro has been life altering for me! It stopped the dumping and leveled out the hyperinsulinemia due to gastric dumping. I had hyperinsulinemia before the VSG and that surgery only made it worse. Every bite I ate caused an elevation in blood sugar, then a drastic drop in blood sugar making me tired and achy and creating a stall in any weight loss. Mounjaro had literally ended the hyperinsulinemia, dumping and had allowed me to lose the weight that was adding to chronic illness to begin with. Please don’t assume what you think you know until you examine the person taking it; whether they have hyperinsulinemia, possible hypoglycemia, which this drug levels out completely, or possible prediabetes or other hormone issues that change blood sugar such as PCOS.

I’m vigilant about eating enough food especially protein and fiber and drinking lots of water. I privately encouraged friends and family to increase their dosage of vitamin D along with a small amount of K2. I also have a Facebook page to do with health and wellness and I encouraged my followers to make sure that they had optimum vitamin D levels and to have them checked. Personally I had liposomal vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, Liposomal quercetin and NAC on hand as well as povidone iodine. Some of this I took on a regular basis. I cannot encourage people enough to learn about health to watch more of your videos because the only person who really truly cares about our health is ourselves. I struggled to lose weight as a firt time mummy in my forties. My son still breastfeeds directly and often cries at night which disrupts my sleep as I am a very light sleeper. I developed chronic migraine and felt that I had zero control over my weight. I started exercising by doing Kettlebell swings and yoga. It helped to stop further weight gain but I still could not lose the extra fat I had around my waist, arms and thighs.
Just a month plus ago, I had a serious look at my food and eating patterns. I then decided to do IF( 16-18hours fasting ) coupled with eliminating highly processed carbs and seed oils. I do my best to use food as a fuel to supply energy to my body and to keep it nourished.
I'm happy to report that I have lost almost 10 pounds in less then 8 weeks. My clothes are starting to fit again and I look better too.
I have maybe 5 more pounds to go. I realise that i have to continue eating correctly if I want to keep my weight off as well as concentrate on building muscles while preventing further loss as I age.
All the best to you ❤.

great point. People love to demonize. It makes them feel like they discovered some big secret. Of course it's controversial. Everyone wants to be thin. No one wants to be fat and presenting a solution that actually works (long term) is controversial to say the least. Finding a solution to this complex problem is like finding the holy grail. To Dr. H's point, yes, there are risks and yes there are side effects, some severe, painful, and potentially life threatening. I don't know the answer. I suppose time will tell (10/20 years down the road). I knew a girl growing up around 11/12 years old who was overweight, then was diagnosed with Diabetes and had to go on medication for it. Within a very short time period she became rail thin. I was shocked (and jealous lol). In hindsight I realize she was most likely on some version of this kind of medication. I mean anyone who's struggled endlessly with weight using useless programs that only work temporarily would be highly intrigued by a longer term solution. If simply diet/exercise and the traditional approaches worked so well why does the problem persist? For me personally the jury is still out on these drugs, and the side effects more than I'd be willing to risk/accept, but for those it works extremely well for who either don't have the side effects, aren't bothered by them...then I say go for it. Everything comes with risks. It's risky being overweight too.

To her credit she also stressed high protein diet, weight lifting etc to maintain muscle while on the drug. The interesting part of the interview was at the end when he asked her what the end goal is with the drug. She said to ween patients off the drug when they reached their weight loss goal for them the maintain weightless without the drug. He asked her in the 5 years she has been doing this how many patients had she successfully weened off the drug ......the answer was ZERO!!!!! That is disturbing in itself.

Even bread has added sugar. So does your salad dressing . Even if you are avoiding the obvious sourced of sugar such as cake, cookies and icecream you may be ingesting more sugar than you realize in other food. From what I have heard bread in Europe does NOT have added sugar. If you are eating less sugar on vacation your insulin won't be spiking as much . I tried ozempic, the first dose, I was full after 3 bites of food, got nauseous trying to drink water afterwards. I got severely dehydrated the first week trying to drink water or eat food. I never got above 600 calories in a day. I got so dizzy that I had to go to bed for more than half of the last 2 days that week. My dr insisted that I would adjust to it. I finished the rest of that months injections, drinking water for the first 2 hours that I was awake to try to hydrate. I got severely constipated, needing 2-3 ducolax a day and only having a bowel movement every 4 days, instead of daily as usual. Then I skipped a month, and finally got my back schedule back to normal. I tried it again, but not dosing weekly, but instead every other week to see if the dizzy spells would go away. The dizziness subsided, but eating more than a 1/4 cup of food every 6-8 hours wasn't tolerated, and the constipation was back. It took me 9 weeks off of it to get back to normal. I traveled for 6 weeks through Europe and didn't gain back any weight. I came home and in 30 days I have gained 6-8lbs. I had lost 42 pounds as of September, after 30 days of prednisone I gained 7 pounds. But that was expected. I am now up a total of 13 pounds and I am actively working on strength training and exercising during the cold winter months as well as increasing the rainbow foods in my regular meal planning. I focus on food labels and scratch cook everything we each. My doctors approach to my concern over gaining 75 lbs after becoming disabled, was for me to "get used to my new normal ". I requested ozempic, he didn't recommend it. He tells me to give up the fast food, and curb my beer drinking. I haven't been to a fast food restaurant in over 8 years and I don't tolerate malt, and haven't had a beer since I was 19, I am 62. I explained that we eat whole foods, I scratch cook, we garden and grow and preserve a great deal of what we eat. We don't eat out ever. Okay in Europe we did a couple of times, on our vacation. He isn't in the slightest interested in helping you get healthy, just adding to his billable codes. We now are our own health care advocates. My husband and I question any recommendations from our doctors that start with pharmaceutical solutions. We do our research before filling anything, and if we find the side effects are bad, or it's newly released, we opt to say no. We need functional medicine hear in Northern Michigan.

@moonmaiden4197 So Funny! Yea, it's not easy. For some it isn't too hard for others like probably you and i it is. Not talked about much is that firstly, it's important to set in your mind the intention and lots of positive FB to the self (something all of us need and not many do). Keep encouraging the self, take time each day for yourself and for the very busy , maybe jsut 10 min am and pm. I don't like, don't use western meds. Right now I'm looking into a company Vitanica. Heard GABA ws important (Dr.Hyman and others). Surprised when I took it remembered my dreams which never happened much before. For those of us with addiction issues, lots of diffent ways to calm the nervous system. Homeopathy also helpful(of course pharmaceautical industry trying to ban it-find petition please and sign it) Since menopause I'm up and down in wt. but can'tgive up !
Best wishes to you and Keep the humor! Joyful living as much as we can in our current world of war. Ponder Peace.

Appreciate your input on ozempic etc . I agree that children should not be given a drug rather supported with nutrition and exercise as the safest method for health. It sets a precedent for dependency on these Band-Aid measures / pharmacy for quick fixes rather than self initiatives for long term measures towards a healthy state.

Thank you for this. I`m in general surgery and we see a lot of cases of diverticulitis and small bowel obstruction. I `m not sure if it is a coincidence but many people were on Ozempic. It is hard to tell if it is related to Ozempic, but it is definately concerning. A lot of our patients are morbidly obese, I see why they are going that direction, but this drug is far from being a miracle and I see a lot of long term side effects in the future

it's amazing how some doctors just push pills and injections. I went to my doctor and they told me I "looked" depressed and immediately tossed me Zoloft. Then my other doctor misdiagnosed me with bi-polar and all this stuff and threw at least 5-6 different medications on me. When I came off medications and switched my diet and exercised and lost weight and felt better I told my doctor and he basically rolled his eyes at me saying "that's great but food doesn't help and someone like you needs to be on meds" and then again threw more meds on me. I haven't taken anything and came off all meds and eat healthy and lost weight and feel better and refuse to take "off label" meds to "maybe" treat something but also "maybe" have 5 other issues with. my body because of taking it. It's really disgusting how doctors treat patients now these days - just a $ and a # sign.

My fiance was told by her Dr it was OK to try, and gave her the 1ml, max allowance for weight loss, and not the minimal or even inbetween!
She had a very serious side effect, bowel and paralysis.
If not for my experience with physical therapy, using a heating pad with laxatives, she was told she would have needed surgery!
Now pushing nearly 4 weeks later. Only 1 shot, she's still not back to normal and reliant on laxatives that's abnormal.
I've told her to go back in for more scans on Fri, once it's starting week 5. It's supposed to be out of the system within 5 weeks, supposed. But damage? Anything permanent or not? She's agreed to go and I'm fortunate she and I have such open communication between us, and she wasn't stubborn or too embarrassed to say something.
Now we have her starting something well researched and it helps retrain the body to accept new body weights as they occur. We have a really great agreed way to slowly reach each goal set, until she reaches her final goal, and with the lifestyle changes occurring slowly during it as well. It SHOULD work and stick. By then we will be living together and much easier to support each other for higher success. Less depression not alone.
    Wish us luck.
Stay off Ozempic if you don't have diabetes 2!
Do your own homework, pharmacist know meds better than Drs. The ER knew immediately what she had taken, Ozempic!

All of this is so phenomenally true. I think there is one part of this conversation that is always omitted. We need a very specific definition of "processed food". I think most people would identify candy, chips, and soda as processed. I think they would NOT properly identify white flour products (pasta, bread, white rice), sausages, or fancy coffee drinks with syrups as processed. Therefore, a lot of viewers will hear this message, nod, and go on eating a lot of the foods they shouldn't.

You said bariatric diet worked as well as surgery. Ok so yes caloric restrictions can help people loose weight. The issue is can they maintain that regime for life. I pose that most people who are overweight have at times had temporary weight loss on a diet but a large cohort of those patients are not able to stay on a diet for the rest in their life and gain back most if not more weight over time.
I get it GLP1s are not without issues but if they prove to be effective over longer terms they it be the lesser harm option for people that struggle with weight. Compared to yo-yo diets and weight cycling that commonly occurs in populations try to maintain weight using just diets.
It diet alone was both an effective and well tolerated solution we would not have a billion dollar weight loss industry.

As I age (I’m 52), I’ve become much more focused on longevity and have become a student of how to live longer and, more importantly, live healthier for longer, and work on becoming stronger and fighting to preserve and increase muscle at my age, which is a constant challenge. I’ve made complete life style changes in the last few years (nutrition, exercise, sleep, tracking food and nutrients, water and proteins, avoiding processed foods, etc) and all of what you discuss in this video is spot on for success. As a person who proactively seeks nutritious foods, I find that it is not easy because we are surrounded by awful choices and you have to actively seek out whole foods and things that aren’t processed or loaded with sugars. It takes a lot of work and intentional focus and education. It’s very tough, it’s no wonder we have an obesity crisis in this country. I don’t blame people, I blame the food industry and all the corruption of people making decisions and misinforming the public.

Thank you for doing this comprehensive review about semaglutide. I agree that it's misguided, expensive, and untested long-term. I think there is a small place for these medications, but that they are being overprescribed because people want faster results than what's often seen with lifestyle changes. Unfortunately, they are missing the fact that the goal is NOT to lose weight, it's to lose weight AND keep it off AND get/stay healthy. This requires muscle mass and I think losing weight with these drugs can feel like 2 steps forward and 1 step back when they come off the medication and are left with less muscle mass that makes weight regain all but inevitable. Long-term weight loss is only possible with long-term behavior change.

There's a horrible tendency to prescribe drugs as a first reaction. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2017. My doctor did me a great favour by first telling me to see if I could get my blood sugars down by diet. At that time the standard dietary advice was to eat 25% protein, 25% starchy foods and 50% non starchy veg. That struck me as strangely high in the food group my body couldn't deal with but I tried it and saw that it pushed my blood sugars up. So I cut out all the starchy veg. Within about 3 months I'd lost about 55lbs and my blood sugars were in the normal range. Now I see that Diabetes UK are promoting low carb diets as a way to control blood sugars and to get off the meds. Which I am told have some unpleasant side effects.

I take Ozempic. I haven’t lost one pound, but my A1c went down from 9.7 to 5.6.

How long did that take? Was it weeks? Or months? Thanks in advance.

You can reduce your A1c through diet as well and lose the Ozempic.

@@infinitedreaming222 People can always come up with excuses. I've seen diabetes type 2 reversed with plenty of people through changing the way they eat. You can't stay on Ozempic forever, and weight comes back when you stop. If you change your way of eating like he's discussing, reversal of diabetes type 2 can be permanent. And weight loss will be a happy side effect.

He's right, but also unrealistic about a large portion of the population who cannot eat healthfully without help with serious cravings. Ozempic has caught on fire because it feels like a miracle - cravings simply disappear, along with the 24/7 thoughts about eating, usually all the things that are bad for you. Yes, some people are able to turn that around with mindful eating, but some people simply can't, or cannot sustain it. That is reality!

A lot of judgment in the comments. Some of us do eat healthy and exercise and have legitimately tried everything. Some people have chronic conditions that make it hard to even get out of bed. Some eat very little but burn even less. It's great that there are medication options that can help.

Very true, genetic and medical conditions can be the root issue. The benefits of a drug can outweigh the risks.
