Do you really need to change the contrast on this TV this drastically or are the settings Samsung creates actually just as good? th-cam.com/video/hNshFm-Bv5k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ID1ay584AzE5lQtS

Spot on. I bought my Sony 65 "A80J OLED 2 years ago this May, in large part with info from the gang but Brian in particular. LOL. I told him the same thing. I thought that took care of my TV research, but Brian does such a good job in his expertise, delivery and thoughtful analysis, I still watch him anyway. I think there are more than a few of us who stick around to watch the TV magician work his magic. Anyway, glad to know there are so many out there that appreciate his hard work and dedication aimed directly at us, the consumer....Cheers !!!!🍾🥂

My G4 55" is nearly here, wall mounting in my office as a monitor. Later this year, depending on deals, I may go for the 83" for the living room, otherwise holding off until next year to see if QDOLED comes up in size and/or what the deal is with the rumored 4000 nits monsters.

Ur welcome-you provide good info and don’t seem to me to be “selling” stuff so much as reporting or explaining.
Talk about a “mirror”-when I bought this apartment, the tv was literally behind a 2-way mirror, so you could see the TV especially at night, but in the day, the mirror in front of the TV reflect all of the brightness so that you can barely see the TV. So I am going to be bringing the TV out front replacing the center mirror. So when you talk about other TVs being a “mirror”- they won’t be quite the literal mirror that I had before, but this antireflective solution seems to me to be completely out of the way in a dark room, as it had been before, but will allow me to at least watch the TV when the sun is shining which I literally cannot right now with a mirror in front. Not sure it would be as bad with the TV in front even without the antireflective. But that’s why I think Samsung should allow the consumer to make a choice of what coating they want by making both types of panels for their high-end TVs…

Hey Brian, I've been watching tv reviews for a month now and wanted to thank you and Fomo for all the product reviews that you do. I have been on the fence about the G4 and S95D 77" or 83" for my main room in my house. I have a QN90B in the main room now and the reflections during the day and high ceiling lights coming across the screen were unbearable. We got a entertainment unit to try to handle some of the reflections and it helped with the ceiling lights but the reflections through our large windows is a pain. I ended up purchasing the 77" S95D for my main room just because of how it handled reflections and lights when I was in bestbuy. I almost bought the s95C last year but glad I waited for the S95D. When I saw the reflections in store on the G4 it made me think I would be dealing with the same issues most gloss tv screens face. Thought I prefer the image processing on the G4 over the S95D ill wait until LG comes out with their updated OLED technology which incorporates hybrid blue pholed into their OLED tvs. How long will it take? Who knows but that'll be my home theater tv whenever it comes out.

@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY what about the g4 though 😉. Something I'm finding is oled strains my eyes more. I guess the pwm modulation? That human eyes can't see but I'm realizing that sometimes I wish I had led purely for less eye strain and head fatigue. Something alot of people don't realize is that some users can't use oled of any kind due to that.
So I'm back and forth on this. Led? Qd oled? Regular oled? Dangit to many choice and all good!
I love my a95l for my movies and TV for watching and even gaming but I want something purely for spending tons of time on literally within a foot to 2 feet of my face lol. On my rig/cockpit.

Thank you for the great videos! I like to think that I'm somewhere between a simp and a HT enthusiast, so I was really hesitant with the S95D due to all the YT reviews. But I just upgraded from a 77" S89C to a S95D, and WOW I was floored. I don't care what anyone says, this is the perfect TV for a multi-use room. I have an open concept great room with 20ft windows and sheer blinds. This TV looks amazing and IMO much better than the S89C during the day and EVEN during night time. The increased brightness and highlights are incredible on the 3rd gen panel, and I don't see any loss of contrast or raising of blacks (at least compared to S89C with reflections). What was surprising to me, was the lack of reflections actually amplifies the wow factor, because all your focus is now on how incredible the contrast and image depth is. For anyone hesitating on TESTING this TV out in your bright room, do it, you will be simply floored. Another factor for me was the 77" S95D is cheaper in Canada, it was only $3400+tax CAD through Samsung (only $500 more than what I paid for the S89C) and came with Samsung Buds Pros.

But I do love OLED Gaming, I can can now fix any broken HDR PC game which most people can't do which I have learned in the recent years, but what is very interesting with your videos is how you are completely honest, we share the same interests and you also know what you talk about and you share many good tips which is superb, anyone who can do that deserves a sub and support.
About the QD-OLED S95D: For me most important is that it keeps the blacks in dark room, if it raises a single bit, its not worth buying, regardless how bright it gets!

@@Enzel02 I spent some time with the G4. I have it setup near my S95D. The S95D appears brighter. The S95D colors are a big leap over the G4's. Not to say the G4 looks bad at all. I had Abyss 4K running on them both at the same time on a 4K bluray player. I thought the S95D looks better overall at least on that movie. For 4K HDR gaming I tried Cyberpunk and Diablo 4. Again, the colors for the Samsung are better. G4 still looks good but it just can't reach QD oled colors. Where the G4 pulls ahead is in how sharp the game image looks. Details come out on the screen I don't see on the S95D. The G4 makes it feel like you have a higher pixel density then what a 55" screen really really is. And that can matter if you are using it as a PC monitor and are sitting fairly close at a desk like I do. So it is not an easy win for either.

    Hello Brian 🤘🏼
My first year not test TVs since 2015 and busy year with moving country, sort court case with my daughter which was taken away in 2010 being denied dna for 13 years, yes, pretty long and fucked up story belonging in a book or movie.
But too the point as we had some nice discussions in past and I love your content as I always say.
I am going tomorrow look at TVs (live now in Brazil) and I been a little torn about S90C as I don’t know the firmware and how the S90/95D is in Brazil concerning qd oled.
Samsung support could not give my fiancé an answer if it was qd oled or woled which is important for me after over 13000 hours use on S95B without the slightest image retention and looked like day 1 when I gave it too my brother, honestly would love to keep it but hard travel the world with. 😊
I am a gamer but will be used a little more with series now but gaming been my area pretty much through life give and take when I messed around in my youth. 😊
I know roughly the chance of problems with OCB but willing to do that as it be bad luck and can be sorted.
This year for first time I’m a little off with 2024 TVs so I will ask you what you recommend?
I know camera ding show full truth so I need to go with what your opinion is if you manage see the message.
You think the S90C is a risk get 14xx firmware?
Do you think S95D is a better buy in general for my use?
I got a rather boring eye when it comes to screens and gaming, it looks nice in dim room as well bright? How you think it compares too S95B/S90C in dim and light?
Almost convinced myself with S90C but firmware and buy tv so late is a gamble I never done and now with 14xx a little worried.
Is S95D universal qd oled as far you know?
Sorry for so many questions, just keep it short if you got the time to answer, just don’t want to mess up.
So much money blown on the moving and yesterday needed a plumber and toilet which was not in calculation. 🤣
Looking for a 65” by the way this year until we sorted all things we need.
Thanks brother, hope all is well and I keep watch some more videos so I catch up on your work. 🙏

When you watch TV, your eyes are focused on the screen. The reflections are at a much farther distance, so your eyes will not be focused on them. That's why I believe that we can get away with reflective screens most of the time. If I watch Mandalorian during the day, I feel like I am one of the characters on the screen! But most of the time, most of the content I watch is bright enough that I never see reflections. My concern with the matte finish is that what would normally distant reflection that I'm not focused on will now be at the surface of the screen. Which is better, which is worse?? In my new home that I'm not in yet, my money is on the matte finish. I'll let you know in a few months if I made the right choice. Another thing that sealed my decision, is that I'll be using a retractable acoustically transparent screen that will occasionally be rolled down in front of the TV. I think the matte finish will help greatly in preventing reflections from the projector.

At least Samsung to their credit are doing something to make a matte coating better and improving them which they have achieved here. It is the "best" matte coating to date.
However, I still think for a flagship TV such a coating (any coating) should be optional for those who want it with the default being full gloss for maximum clarity in a controlled viewing environment.

The way it diffuses light across the screen didn’t bother me as much as the murky blacks and lack of sharpness.
I’m a photographer and pixel peep and up close the S95C looked tac sharp while the S95D was slightly out of focus. At a distance they looked similar.
The colours looked great on the D but at all angles the black just looked off. And worse while standing to the side. It looked like someone put a drop of white in a jet black can of paint and mixed it. So close to black but just not quite there.

This comparison is hardly like for like. The s95d is flanked on 3 sides. 2 sides by tvs and one by the wall. The only light that comes in is indirect. I recommend that you go to the store and take a look at it for yourself. You’ll have the privilege of being disappointed in person. It’s like those lcd matte finishes. Anyone who’s used that when sun is coming in will know that it’s far worse than the reflections. The matte finish scatters the light all over the screen making it completely unwatchable.

Even the very brightest OLED like the G4 or S95D can barely even reach a pathetic 300 nits full screen brightness. Even If a very moderate amount of the screen is meant to be bright ABL completely neuters brightness. TVs can only hit high nit specular highlights and that's it. Brightness stability is terrible and if you have even a tiny amount of natural lighting in the room they will be extremely difficult to see and very washed out looking. All OLED are very dim TVs.

Samsung loses a sale from me with S95D. Not because of the matte coating. In my environment it would have zero problems.
But they lose out to LG G4 because 5 year panel warranty and LG has their best processing on the G4. Samsung messed up with these things. I would have to buy a best buy warranty. In Canada that would cost me $1500+ tax on a 77" S95D. And it last 4 years. Starting to see the problem why they lose.
Less processing the 900D got the best, S95D basically the same as last year give or take. But I would have to pay ~$1600-1650 more for the S95D. Hell no.
The G4 looks more "fun" this year, more 3d effect, better processing, fixed gaming issues and so on.
But I am still waiting for Sony MiniLED and it's performance before I bite the bullet on that or G4.

You can get this for $3550 from Visions plus $670 for 5 year warranty. Certainly fhe cheapest flagship tv.
That said I returned mine before it arrived as i kept returning to the shop to compare it with the glossy S95C and it just didn’t look as good.
Figured if I’m going to have the tv for 5+ years I don’t want to compromise

@samr7537 are you liking your new S95D, I am from Canada looking to buy . I have bright lit room. Also, how long is one connect box? 6 ft or below? Wanted to wall mount tv. Appreciate you help!

I honestly returned it. I think I tried to justify it due to its great sale price but at the end of the day the picture just didn’t impress as much as the S95C/sony A95L/G3/G4 etc.
I’m not sure if I made the wrong decision, I’m really on the fence about it. G3 let alone G4 for example will never come close to that price Yeah, about 6’ cable.

The A95L is one of the best TV'S on the planet! I compare the A95L 77" to this S95D. th-cam.com/video/PBbD6tqnY1U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=u56PpZXHydjUJGXp the A95L has better processing and is more detailed. Check out it and feel better about your decision

I don’t get the hype for Samsung TV’s. To me the colors look exaggerated and cartoonish and the one Samsung tv I owned had horrible connection issues. I ve looked at the lg c3 next to the Samsung s95c in Best Buy and I think the lg looks way better. Plus their largest oled is 77 inches and I need (want 🤣) bigger for my living room
