The Constellation is definitely a candidate for most beautiful commercial aircraft. It really has no bad angles.
Pure beauty and elegance! 👍
Best looking airliner ever. My dad would take my brother and I to Hobby airport to watch planes take off and land in the late 50’s. Saw a lot of Constellations, Dc-4’s . The Connie was my favorite even back then
Looks like a Condo on the ground w/ the long nose gear.
Yes, but a certain “stoop” of the silhouette still deprives the contours of the fuselage of its swiftness.
And then they made the SUPER CONSTELLATION.
Thanks to everyone who helped bring her back. As the announcer said, it’s an incredible undertaking by incredibly talented and passionate people. I feel very fortunate to be able to see her fly again, THANK YOU!!
The Connie is without a doubt the most beautiful aircraft ever to fly. There's just nothing else close.
Amen to that!
Wouldn't argue. The Connie was beautiful. In a different class of aircraft, I saw the F-4 Phantom II fly over up close when I entered the US Navy in 1981. That plane was loud and flashy. It was a very impressive display of metal and speed.
@mcburcke YOU 4GET SUPER GUPPY ...I bet ..
My personal favorite is the P-51D.
@@mattfarahsmillionmilelexus That''s my second choice...beautiful bird also.
What a ridiculously gorgeous aircraft.
Probably the most majestic and beautiful aircraft ever built. I have loved them since they were NOT vintage ... Wow. Just pure magic.
Amen to that!
Don't think I've ever seen a prettier airplane. Wow.
The pinnacle of prop driven transport! Gorgeous airplane!!
Rolling and flying sculpture. Amazing.
Beautiful! Great sound from those big radials, too!
To see a giant machine like that using fire and a couple thousand moving parts fly up into the air making the most glorious sound. It lifts my heart.
Me too my friend, me too!
This has to be newer than when it was first assembled. In the history of commercial airlines, this is without a doubt the most handsome of flying machine. They say a picture is worth a thousand words but this aircraft is worth millions of pictures.
My single favorite commercial airliner, by far. Love this bird!!!
Talk about stately and beautiful, it describes the Connie. 👍
One of the most beautiful planes ever, the fuselage is a work of art!
Prob one of the most beautiful planes ever made
If I could go back in time, I'd like to have flown in a TWA Super G Constellation over the polar route to London. That would have been some trip on the most beautiful passenger airliner ever. Great job on the amazing restoration!
Man, that’s SWEET CONNIE!
What a great looking plane!! Sounds fantastic!
I was fortunate enough to ride in one from Kansas City to LA around 1962. What a ride!
Right before this I viewed a video of an early 60’s Jag race car then right into this gorgeous Connie. The last 10 minutes have been sublime. WOW!
Beautiful aircraft. Always a showstopper
got to sit in the cockpit at oshkosh in this plane, just straight unreal
She's beautiful!
The Super Constellation is even more elegant and beautiful!
Especially ones in TWA colors.
Awsome! I flew from Kodiak, Alaska to Seatle in a one of these in 1958...polished aluminum..beautiful!!
I beat your flight by six years. Memphis to St. Louis - 1952, Chicago & Southern Airways. Glad to hear that you got a flight in a Connie. That experience is something they will NEVER take away from you. Not many of us today can say that they flew in a Connie.
Was lucky to be there when it landed! Beautiful plane
I got to see the departure on Saturday! Boy, I was really hoping it would come back around for a photo pass, but no such luck. Thanks so much for sharing video of the arrival! That cross-wind landing looked quite challenging! So glad that I got to see such a great restoration.
Should have done a hundred ft flyby!
Lovely polished silver paintjob on that Constellation! What a gem.
Highly polished aluminum, not paint (except for the stripe and lettering).
@@cristianabarsuglia629 Of course, you are correct. It's highly polished bare aluminum metal. Very eye-catching, and the painted parts add a nice contrast to the mirror-like polished aluminum. I've seen a Mustang in polished aluminum, and it looks beautiful.
I miss the old American Airlines livery when they were new & shiney. I used to book my flights just because of its beauty.
Absolutely beautiful aircraft! I remember in Penndel PA, there was a Connie that was a restaurant, it was Jim Flannerrys.
Supposedly it went to the Smithsonian
Memories of flying on the Connie as radioman, 1,200 hours on the WV 2, radar equipped bird. U S Navy 1958 - 1962, AT2. Beautiful plane, beautiful ride. Home station, N A S Pax River, MD. Squadrons: VW 2 and AEWTULANT
Used to see TWA Connie's at Heathrow when place spotting as a kid in the 50's . Always looked very impressive..
I flew in a Air-line version of the Conie from Texas to Chicago in 1955. I also flew in a military version in 1987. Sweet plane the ultimate propeller driver air liner. Combine 1 was Ik's presidential plane.
IM OVER 80 YEARS OLD, SO I REMEMBER THESE FLYING BY ALL THE TIME. FLEW ON BOARD MANY A TIME. I MISS THEM. LOUD AND SLOW IN THE AIR.
I love the Constellation. On my 5th birthday my mother & I flew from Johannesburg to Europe via Cairo.
They made a little birthday party for me at the back of the plane & I got to visit the cockpit
I especially loved the sound of the engines.
The first time that I flew on a commercial airliner was in 1957 on a flight from St. Johns, Newfoundland to La Guardia airport, NY. As a 9 year old kid, it was like alien space technology. I still remember the inflight box lunch which had a sandwich on plain bread, and apple, and a pickle. I don't remember the type of sandwich but it was either a baloney or some other kind of mystery meat without any thing else. It was a Pan Am flight and I remember being impressed with the service.
In 1954 my dad was transferred to Pepperell Air Force Base, St. Johns, Newfoundland. To get there, we took a ferry from Nova Scotia, Canada to Port aux Basques, Newfoundland. It was at night in rough seas so the trip was unpleasant. From there we took a train locally known as the "The Newfy (pronounced Newfee) Bullitt" because it was very slow and it seemed to make stops frequently to drop off and pick up passengers like a city bus. It took something like 5 days to make the nearly 400 mile trip. As a kid, it was pretty exciting.
I happened to be in Rome, NY in about 2010. The Air Force base that used to be there had been turned over to city of Rome to be converted into industrial sites. One of the old Air Force hangars had a Constellation in it being rebuilt. I wonder if the Connie in the video was the same as the one in Rome.
Wow. That was a beauty. No smoke either, which means they either rebuilt and remachined the engines, or replaced them with new build engines.
As a boy growing up in Miami in the 60's I got to see Connies all the time takeing off n landing! And then I became an AMT in the late 70's and I still watched them come n go to Central/ South America as Fright dog's till the late 80's what a time n place to be in Aviation!!!! The Constellation is my All time Favorite Aircraft!
One of the most beautiful aircraft ever built. I wish they would reproduce more of them. {I know this was a restored original.}
Made my day-just gorgeous
I’ve always loved this airplane! It’s beautiful. During the infancy of passenger travel a Constellation hit another plane over the Grand Canyon causing the complete destruction of both planes. That accident led to a lot of changes to make flying safer.
I got to go on board an Eastern Airlines Super Connie when I was a boy, and my grade school took a field trip to Miami International Airport. I was impressed then and still am.
I flew to Florida when I was 3 in 1960, I think we took the DC7 but I've been on just about everything except the Concorde & A380. I miss the old workhorse B727s as well.
What a great video. As others here have said, the Connie is such a beautiful machine. So nice to see one so cared for and flying. Thanks for the video
Now I am a true admirer of beautiful state of the art Steam Locomotives, but as many have said, and I totally agree with all the comments, the Connie is by far the most beautiful and graceful airliner ever built. Need I say more. My congratulations to all the members of the restoration team that brought her back to life. Would love to have a flight in it. A flight in the B-17, Tin Goose, and by-plane are just wonderful experiences to cherish. Thank you for sharing.
She is stunning in her own right! Thank you to the restoration team for bringing her back to what she was meant to do
My older cousin flew these for TWA. They didn't serve too long before the 707 took over their routes. My cousin transitioned to 707s about 1959. The military had a bunch with a radar.
I grew up in the 1950s and at any international airport you'd see the Constellation. They used the same engine, R-3350, as the B-29. Military engines only went about 300 hours between overhaul, but I heard these averaged 3000 in civilian service,
I learned on radial engines near the end of their common use.
The Connie looks great. Thanks to all who worked on her.
A Beautiful Aircraft, and a symbol of America at it's Best. I would love to go back to that time.
Thanks for that. Such an elegant flying sculpture. Gorgeous!
Gorgeous restoration!
The combination of matt and polished aluminum on the fuselage is beautiful.
Its so beautiful, a real work of art! My greatest complement? I WANT ONE!
I flew on one when l was a kid moving from Pennsylvania to California in 1955, one engine caught fire and we had to immediately land in Phoenix. Glad l was too young to remember it but my mom sure did the rest of her life.
Simply spectacular in every respect. Thank you! sbelmont
A Connie and Tristar, Lockheed legacy in airlines... and an Electra too, that would be an incredible flyover!
Connie . . . . truly the last word in prop airliners, both mechanically and in design. My favorite!
Absolutely stunning
The Constellation is So Brilliant and Beautiful!!!!
A well done, clear video of a beautiful historic aircraft. Bravo.
I remember seeing one of the 1st. ones as a kid, touring the inside.. a lifetime memory.
I _HAVE_ to get to EAA Airventure at least once!
The constellation is a total babe of an aircraft. It and the Valkyrie are my favorites.
What a beautiful airplane! I’d love to see it in person!
I’ve never seen one, even on static display. 🙁
There's a slice of my youngest childhood, watching TWA Constellations flying over my house to, and from the airport not far away from where I lived as a child. TWA fazed out the Connies for jet powered commercial planes, while I was still too young to go to school. I miss seeing those beauties flying past.
I'm so glad to see this.
Great job on the restoration she looks magnificent with all that shiny aluminum just beautiful
Absolutely beautiful… would love to fly on her someday.
Always loved the look and lines of this plane 👍
MAGNIFICENT!
Last commercial flight was 1967, from Philadelphia to Kansas City.
Eastern Airlines used the Connie as the second section of their Boston to New York shuttle in the late 60s.
What an undertaking to restore this beauty, who can guess how many hours it must of taken ? Loving to see this, hi from the UK, go America 💕
Flew to Europe on a MATS Connie back in the day, What a beautiful bird!!
I would LOVE to take a ride in one of those things!
Beautiful!
What a beauty she is!!
Wow what a beautiful plane!
Il est vraiment d'une beauté et d'une élégance incroyable !! J'adore merci beaucoup pour tout ça 😘😘😘🌹🌹🌹🇫🇷
Both are beautiful, the Super Connie included.
MAGNIFIQUE !
I saw this Connie many times at the Marana Airport, AZ, before it was removed for restoration. My father flew in Connies on business trips in the 1950's. We watched him climb the stairs and then take off.
Absolutely a beautiful plane.
WOW just WOW What a beautiful aircraft...
What a pretty aircraft. Gorgeous!
Just another gorgeous Lockheed plane. They don’t have panels that fall off during flights.
Gorgeous!
What a beauty!
That Sound... That sound at Take-Off - that's the sound that young Orville & Wilbur heard in their dreams a Century and a half ago...
Fantastic video, beautifully captured.
The crew are pretty dam lucky ill tell ya what cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
If an aircraft can be considered to be beautiful then the Connie is without doubt stunningly beautiful
Beautiful bird!!
Battan made her debut at Sun N' Fun down at Lakeland-Linder Airport, Lakeland, Florida. Oshkosh '24 doesn't happen until late July, early August, guys.
This was Oshkosh 2023, according to the legend.
The Constellation adorned the sky.
Lockheed has always built stunning aircraft. My favorite? The L-1011.
The Connie is a beautiful looking aircraft, at the time way ahead of anything else, sounds fantastic too
I was lucky enough to have flown on a Constellation , Cross Country as a Baby in 1960.
What LOVELY video of this Connie landing; they were such beautiful aircraft. When I lived in NW Florida in the 1980s there was one parked in back of our county airfield, a DEA Seizure used to smuggle drugs, for a long time(it was never claimed).
Now that is a thing of beauty!
The constellation is the most beautiful civilian airliner ever designed in history absolutely gorgeous machine❤❤❤❤
beautiful plane
Love that plane!
