    I made a Frippertronics tape delay, but instead of using reel to reels, I utilized a long tape loop and a few broken walkmans to get a super lo-fi version. In the tape delay, the bottom walkman is recording a signal from the Korg Volca Keys and is being played back in the top walkman about 4 seconds later. The Volca Keys is also being split, with the other signal going directly into the mixer. The delay tape signal and auxiliary walkman are also being fed into the mixer, which is all then routed through the Realistic reverb unit.

    Often times simplicity reflects the most genius. I think that applies here. Totally awesome.

    fascination and hyptotism.I do not understand what captivates me in your music.I think a kind of hypnotic repetition that captures the senses, and that blurs the mind.
    There is something of boredom and fetichism. A kind of second state. Bravo. A sort of expectation that something appears captures attention.
    A kind of childhood game and a big void.

      They're actually quite popular, now that I know them I see them regularly in music setups. I think they're actually Bucket Brigade Delays btw, so you can always get a Behringer pedal if you want that lo-fi BBD goodness on the cheap. Behringer now owns the patents iirc.

    Rocking the Realistic reverb! Yours is far superior to set ups I tried to do with cassette tape to tape. I used to do mine with old "boom box" dubbing decks.

  • @Skootavision

    Wow the Realistic Reverb! That was the first effect I owned back in the early/mid 80's and had a matching Tandy mixer, until I upgraded to the Korg KMX8, which I mention cos I've seen both in one music vid binge. Hadn't thought about either for 20 or so years. Love this - recently got a recording walkman from ebay to do speed control stuff but might try a delay. Thanks

    Lol. Man, I just get this image of you sitting at your desk, sipping coffee & tapping a pencil to your forehead going, "I AM the junkbin Frankenstein". It was stuff like this that inspired me to re-evaluate my analog stuff and conclude that there are better ways of doing things that don't compromise your creativity. Nice job!
    .
    By-the-by: had that Radio Shack mixer back in '87 (was it?). God, I hated that thing - everything I sent through it had that extra pinch of what sounded like a junebug buzzing around my head. Try that pumped through a Fostex X-15 with permanent Dolby B that can't be turned off and, well... Yeah, Fart Swells...

    • @ColtonDSemer
      @ColtonDSemer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Simon R. Tremblay I’m curious of the same thing.. more than likely not as some walkmens have an input for recording

    • @amuletsmusic
      @amuletsmusic  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I had to modify the walkmans to have inputs, which basically meant taking the mic input they already had and wiring that to a 3.5mm plug. the one tape player also has a speed/pitch knob adjustment that I added.

      I've made the tape loop + cut out the holes on the cases. My question is what brand of decks you're using. I ask because I have one deck with only a play head and one deck with a record/play combo but only records over built in microphone. Are your decks able to record via Line IN or are you leveraging the built in microphone?
