What a great playing and tone! I have my Epiphone Mandobird IV strung CGDA as well- just a better range for unaccompanied instruments in 5ths. I’m going to start saving for one of these!
Interesting looking instrument, very nicely played ( I have also seen RJ play some excellent demo's of the new Guild electric guitars). I would also like to hear what this sounds like with less processing and acoustically.
The titling for this video is all kinds of messed up. The title IN the video calls this a mandocello, the title below the video calls it an octave mando and the actual tuning being demonstrated is tenor mando. The scale length suggests this is best suited to GDAE octave mando tuning. I'd think the low C on a mandocello would be a bit slack or fat at such a short scale. The tenor tuning demo'd here sounds great, but I'd love to hear a demo of octave tuning.
Haha. Just saw the other replies below. Yeah, you know a Mandocello in this style would be super sweet though! Eastwood makes the Warren Ellis in that range, but I love the dual mini hb’s on this instrument!

Huh, it kind of looks like the C strings are running into the same saddle slot there. They appear to converge as they approach the bridge.

It's tuned
as it should be. The low C is as if you downtuned an E on a guitar. It's exactly like a cello.
