Watches like this are where modern Breguet gets interesting. This was a Baselworld 2014 launch, and it justifies the reams of cash that Swatch Group has invested in the Breguet brand. While Breguet hasn't lived up to Swatch's ambition that the brand should challenge Patek Philippe, hardware isn't the cause of that shortfall. The 3797BR in this video displays in no uncertain terms where the money was spent.

Breguet's hand work is just sensational. The guiloche is exceptional and the watch itself is a master piece, what a watch. I would take this over a Patek perpetual calendar any day of the year.

Yes, this or a standard Patek perpetual wouldn't be a challenge from my perspective. I'm not a fan of dial-side tourbillon watches as a rule, but this particular execution leaves me with few objections. True, it's flamboyant, but its too fine to fault one that basis; sometimes, you must allow stars to shine.

Great review on a beautiful Breguet watch Tim! Hope you'll get the chance to review the Breguet 5367 extra plat tourbillon in the future. I saw the new 5367PT enamel dial in the metal last month and my breath was utterly taken away by it. The watch was extremely slim(around 7.00mm); simple on the front(especially in enamel dial, unlike the 3797) and ornately decorated on the back(automatic movement with peripheral winding mass). Look forward to seeing more great reviews on modern complicated Breguets!

Small detail but I wish they shifted the screws or the dial track itself on the time dial so the screws lined up to the 3 and 9 o’clock position so there’s not a double marker at those positions.
