Gear shifts are smooth and acceleration is great. ZF gearboxes are way more better than those AMT transmission used in volvo/scania/man buses. But what about the fuel efficiency? What was the consumption on these small runs?

I've heard ZF are the better ones though I've heard good things about the Volvo I-Shift as well, which isn't too bad in our Levante Volvo B11R. Fuel consumption is best on longer runs than these local runs, doing school and swimmers I tend to fill up every 4 days, could get away with a weeks worth possibly but I never let it go below a quarter, and it's about a 300 litre tank

Great videos. I'm currently in the process of doing my D license lessons and have applied for my test, and there are some great tips here. You must be the friendliest coach driver on the road, saluting and thanking everyone, fair play. How long have you been driving coaches?

Thank you! Maybe in some other video's I'll try and drop some other tips from what I can remember on the test, passed in Feb 2020, just before lockdown so passed and then lost 8 months of building up some experience!
Yes I always say thank you etc and let cars out when I feel like it. Should see me in London, the passengers behind said can tell I'm from Wiltshire 🤣🤣

@James Underwood only in 2020!!. I figured you had been driving coaches for a lot longer. You're very calm and perceptive beyond your years of driving. Fair play to you. I've lesson number 4 in the morning and applied for the test about 3 weeks ago, so Im still waiting to hear back. Keep up the good work on those videos. Im looking forward to the next instalment.

@@simonearlie8656 Thank you! Got any news on the test? I've just completed a tips for driving: A roads video that I've just got to put through the video editor and process, focusing on A roads and some minor tips for the test and after the test as well that I hope would become useful

@James Underwood Hi James. Yes, I passed my test in April, first time. 100% clean sheet. Have my CPC walk around test in 3 weeks time. Any tips gladly accepted😃

@@simonearlie8656 Congrats! Ah is that the Modular 4, the bit you need to pass so you can carry passengers? If so absolute doddle really is, before I went I was told it's pretty hard to fail it as they tend to try and help you and drop 'hints'. When I did the walkround I actually studied a lot of Mod 4 walkround check video's but on the day they gave me a walkround checklist so you could see what they want you to look for and you could tick it off if you like, mine was done on a 16 seater minibus so was an easy one.
It's daunting at first but actually a walkround is pretty simple and common sense really. You'll get some questions maybe like you are going on a long journey what would you need. Well a route already planned out and a fuel card or maybe a form of payment for fuel. If there's an answer missing, which I had one, they'd hint the answer

It doesn’t half clatter over pot holes 😬

Oh yes! Mind you the road is shoddy! Smooth roads are better for this coach. Then again I've been on buses that rattle louder than this on all types of surfaces, this is tame in comparison 🤣
