Coach Driving Diaries #6 - Trains of North Wales 5 day tour
Coach Driving Diaries #6 - Trains of North Wales 5 day tour
Having done this style for Devon, I thought I'd do another tour video, this time another 5 day tour but in North Wales, staying at the Royal Victoria Hotel in Llanberis. It was an excellent tour with stunning scenery and rides on some narrow gauge railways, including the Snowdon Mountain Railway which I hadn't done before
Sorry it's taken a month to do this, I've been spending an hour or so now and again after work sorting out clips, doing a lot of voiceover re-takes etc!

Imberbus 17th August 2024, just as busy, if not busier, than the 2023 event, with up to 40 vehicles in use, with the usual mix of Routemasters and other vehicles, from a Bristol VR to an Enviro 200 MMC from local operator Beeline Buses, I believe the first time that they have appeared here. There were of course some open toppers as well and being a dry day these were popular. Using the same for...

    Hi James, the Levante 2 is 14metres long along with the levante 3 but there are some, which are going that are 15 metres long and that extra metre does make it tight getting round some bends in central London. There is also the Levante 3A which are the mirrorless Scania's. You just have to be very careful with that tale swing and it catches put alot of drivers including myself 😂 Great video James, can't wait to see your next video.

      @craigtw1984 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @james143611 yes they can be a bit weird, but ounce you get use to them they are quite good, some draw back are, in the rain on the motorway they can be obscured by the water rushing past them. Also they don't have a front blind spot camera or mirror, but they are fast, they have a power setting for going up hills, but they are heavy coaches compared to the volvo variants so swings and roundabouts. They have great hill decent control and the adaptive cruise control works really well. The seating position is in an odd place so you sit further to the left from the window due to them having a Scania dashboard in them instead of the custom Levante Dashboad. This reduces the leg room for your left foot also. So swings and roundabouts. 👍🏽😀👊🏾

    Enjoyed that, a different way of presenting it ! - but should be noted that ex Cardiff 758 was not on the 23A, it was just a non pcv visitor that parked for the day at Sack Hill (I am on the bus in your video directing it to where it should park - had been in the way at Warminster). Also for acuracy, the two Hendy buses maybe should be referred to as Hendy, Richmond Hill, as he moved from Bath a few years ago. Whilst RML2344 has been recently running for Londoner Buses, it is actually locally owned. Similarly with RMC1510, although it was indeed running from Ensign's depot, and they are allowed to use it for hires, it is still owned by Martjin Gilbert, Gateshead.

    • @james143611
      @james143611 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @robertp.wainman4094 Yes built differently to how they used to, not hand crafted anymore built by machines and more plastic and other light and cheap materials, many new service buses have rattles probably more noisier than new coaches, but not necessarily suspension parts, in buses grab handles rattle, plastic on side panels, seats etc rattle though state of the roads really don't help

    Many people won't be aware of this, but Caetano turned their collective backs on coach operators and signed an agreement with National Excuse to only build the Levante for registered NX operators. Everyone else was refused new sales. In fact NX tried to enforce a no used sales of Levantes but that was not lawful. Undoubtedly Caetano thought that an exclusive deal with NX was a great idea- that's a large fleet to build and subsequently replaced. But that ignores the twin fact that A) National Disgrace can easily terminate with Caetano and move to another operator next- leaving Caetano to try and pick up the losses with other operators who feel cheesed off at being abandoned. B) I very much doubt NX is going to make it to 2030 and whilst Flix seem to be using ex NX Levantes via former NX operators, it does not mean Flix will enter such foolish exclusivity deals- and if they did I suspect it would be the Tourismo.

    • @james143611
      @james143611 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I heard about that's how it started no non-NX partner could buy one, so until they got 5 years old they flogged them off, and now already an operator in Birmingham has become the first to have an ex-NX Levante 3, I knew they'd appear on the second hand market one day, but hadn't realised it's already started

    • @james143611
      @james143611 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That answer could go on for a long post, each day can be different same with rest, but there's working time and driving time which have their own sets of rules, like you can drive for 9 hours, which can go to 10 hours but twice a week, but you can have a 13 hour shift overall, but you could have a 12 hour day that only involves 4 hours worth of driving, an hour or two cleaning in between wherever you are, and 6 hours rest, or you could have 12 hour shift but you are doing rail replacement maybe and driving for 10 hours with just 15 mins and 30 min breaks in between Usually a school day shift would be 10 hours, and if there's jobs inbetween then you'll have about an hour or two break in the day

      I don't know how, I've seen some 2022 plate Levante 3's even some of those already have dings and dents around the back grill, not really surprised to be honest with the way the street furniture is placed in London it's like it's designed with cars in mind and nothing else, bollards and railings are the enemy! Yes the I-Drive is very good, and the rattles I believe are common in a majority of Levante's over time, as mentioned the wheelchair lift/system is all in by the front step, so that's rattling away inside, along with other things but the state of the roads certainly don't help it

      Some of the second hand ones have over a million miles on the clock! Any NatEx vehicle that's worked Victoria - Edinburgh day in day out will rack up the miles no end!
