Like you, I just went to farmer’s markets in the mornings and bought my food for the day. If I was desperate for veggies, I would eat in a restaurant. I also stayed in hostels every three days or so, so I could shower. It was one of the most fun times of my life!
You mentioned you have siblings as well as parents. What do they think about your choice to live in your car? Also, how much of the time do you actually spend traveling outside of New York? Do you have favorite states and cities that you like to make sure you go to every single year? When you do go, do you typically stay in that city or state for at least a few days or weeks or even months? And lastly, how do you earn your money? Just sharing my 2007 Yaris experience Change the little things. Spark plugs, bands, all the good little things. I got mine in 2007, it just now completely went out at 198,653. But, I love my car. Naps, road trips, took alone moments. Yeah.... I miss my Yaris. It's been two weeks. 😭😭😢
I have friends that pay ten dollars a month at planet fitness so they can use the showers, bathrooms, working out. That's so worth it. Plus their open 24 hours.

You empty it at the rest stop hidden in a bag keeping it upright or carry a little shovel and bury it at the side of the road 👍

@AJ aka Audrey Yes, it is very freeing not to worry about the high rent payment if you are struggling with that. If I had kids, I definitely wouldn't try this. However, it's just me, and I decided to do this to save money. I am presently on SSDI and didn't want to try working until I turn 66 in December of this year. If you work too much, the amount goes down or they take it away. Mine turns into regular social security income in December of this year, so I can work as much as I want at that time, and supplement the $1,500 I get now. I just can't quite cover a car payment, insurance, and rent with the amount I get now. Like Katy says, showers are easy at Planet Fitness, you can usually get free wireless at many retail stores by sitting outside close to the stores or at libraries. It takes some resourcefullness, but the money you can save is awesome.

So cool that you choose that particular verse, because yesterday I was on the dock at a lake, thinking about how cool that Jesus walked on water, & could I have faith to walk to him on water if he commanded me to do so. Woe.
I can remember this young woman talking about how she lives in her car, looking at her subscriber count and it being like at 2,100. I can remember this young woman trying to find her place in the TH-cam Universe and coming to us saying she didn't know if this was the right direction in her life. I remember many of us telling her not to let numbers on the channel sway her decision. This had to be a passion of love and not a job. If she decided to stay we've support her. If she decided to shut down we'd support that. But the biggest thing she needed to do is pray, to let go and let God lead her in the direction she needed to go. This young woman has basically doubled her subscription base because I'm certain she did just that, she let go and let God lead her. Katie, you're doing good and I think can speak for your community that we're all proud of you and your commitment. Hopefully we're going to see a Silver Play Button in your future soon. Good advice here and I did similar things in my vehicle dwelling days. Went to the supermarket every day for food and generally only kept canned foods or bread for more than a day but mostly stuck to fruits & veggies. Here's a tip - get one of those 64 ounce insulated mugs from AM/PM. when you are at the grocery store fill it with ice from the soda machine. At most they will charge about 25 cents for the ice but a lot of cashiers will just let you have it for free. That ice will last all day. I too used my gym membership to shower and use the restroom. A lot of gyms also have little cafes with WiFi these days where you can work and charge your laptop. If you are not a member you can buy a day pass at a lot of gyms.

Ok, so let's talk about your car maintenance. I hate Jiffy Lube, I have seen some terrible videos on here about rip offs, but then again, that is neither here nor there. I do my own maintenance and if you are happy with them, then that is okay by me. Most people think that the life of a car is making sure that you change the oil on a regular basis but a very small percentage think about the transmission. The transmission is directly connected to the car's engine and it has oil (aka transmission fluid) and a filter that is inside the transmission which is visible when you drop the transmission pan. The transmission fluid breaks down after a period of time just like the engine oil and the filter needs changed. There are 2 ways to change the transmission fluid and filter. One is known as a flush in which they flush the entire transmission. It can cost several hundreds of dollars. The second, is a transmission fluid change which can cost maybe around a 100 bucks depending on what you drive. A change is fine. It's better than not doing one at all, but then have it done again at around another 50,000 miles. Many times, a transmission can coast more than what your vehicle is worth. If you ever come to the Branson, Missouri area, I will change you transmission fluid for you. It really is so vital that you take care of this. By the way, Branson, Missouri is located in The Mark Twain National Forrest.
I lived in my car for 2 months a lot of years ago and whenever I did tell somebody I was living in my car I thought it was hilarious that their very first question always was where do you shower? I was like I have a gym membership and I shower there and they're like oh hadn't thought of that. Seems so obvious to me but that was seriously everybody's first question. Even when it comes up in conversation to this day that I did do that for a short time that's always the first question

I use to manager a health food store and boars head is amazing! Their staff is super classy and they have really high standards for their products. I use to get a couple slices of turkey, sandwich pepperoni, Provolone and a roll for 50 cents and made a sandwich for less then 3 bucks.
I also often sleep in my little car when I travel to places around the UK, and have had periods of living in it too. Very interesting to see someone else doing similar. Great channel, thanks!

I prayed day and night that my application would process to go through. It didn't go through until 2 years 😩😩😩. I had to pay of some debts. Great video. Hi. Just a quick question. You can only get a New York State inspection in New York State. Can you please explain how you accomplish keeping your car inspected, all across the country? The registration which is every 2 years must be done in a New York dept of motor vehicles or online, and mailed to a New York residence. Library restrooms are great. I worked as a home health aide and we were not allowed to use the patients bathroom. I always used the library restrooms and they were all super clean. Their wifi is great too.

When I lived in my car I ate at Chinese buffets mostly, showered at Anytime Fitness (they have private shower rooms). My stuff was at accessible storage to easily access. Laundry was done at coin-operated laundromats.
I am going to start doing that. I was looking for a room for rent but I only really need a place to spend the night! I work part-time for now, then, I got to the library to use the internet and at night I got to the gym, do my routine and take a shower there. So, I guess I only need to get use to sleep in the car! I just saw this video today. On the food situation you can also by packets of tuna, salmon, etc for $1 each at Dollar Tree, and slightly higher ($1.50?) at Walmart. You don't have to refrigerate these.
Hi, just an FYI.. you can get good quality inverters at pilot and flying J's. But, but steer clear of ( road pro) brand cookers and such. I had a Crock-Pot short out and caught fire. Wound up burning and charred the interior of my truck. I hope this helps. William. By the way I love love love the scripture reading. 😇
like your idea, wish I was much younger as it is something I probably would do. suggestion, you can purchase a Goal Zero solar charger panel to charge your camera, phone and if large enough your laptop. I have several and use them when camping, doing outdoor stuff. carry on girl.
For the people making fun of her life decisions. You gotta understand something. Imagine living in NY or Long Island or just living in the same spot for your entire life, never getting to travel or buy the house you want one day because you're forking out $1200-$1800 a month to your landlord. This beautiful woman has all the freedom she needs, gets to see things most people never get to see in their lives because their too afraid of getting out of their comfort zone. I recently was laid off and my lease is running out in 5 days and i just got laid off. Unfortunately i didn't save anything because rent is super expensive and other bills and what not, and everything just came at once so i'm forced to have to do what she's doing but in a much worse situation lol. Don't have money to even get half of the stuff i'll need just to be able to eat, gas insurance..etc. But hey everything happens for a reason. Hoping i can save up enough to buy a Toyota Sienna 2004+ and make it into a van camper conversion and those mini vans are dirt cheap. Down the road i'll most likely get a cargo passenger van to actually have a shower, stove, sink, computer, tv and basically everything a studio apartment has.

Ok, so let's talk about your car maintenance. I hate Jiffy Lube, I have seen some terrible videos on here about rip offs, but then again, that is neither here nor there. I do my own maintenance and if you are happy with them, then that is okay by me.
Most people think that the life of a car is making sure that you change the oil on a regular basis but a very small percentage think about the transmission. The transmission is directly connected to the car's engine and it has oil (aka transmission fluid) and a filter that is inside the transmission which is visible when you drop the transmission pan. The transmission fluid breaks down after a period of time just like the engine oil and the filter needs changed. There are 2 ways to change the transmission fluid and filter. One is known as a flush in which they flush the entire transmission. It can cost several hundreds of dollars. The second, is a transmission fluid change which can cost maybe around a 100 bucks depending on what you drive. A change is fine. It's better than not doing one at all, but then have it done again at around another 50,000 miles. Many times, a transmission can coast more than what your vehicle is worth. If you ever come to the Branson, Missouri area, I will change you transmission fluid for you. It really is so vital that you take care of this. By the way, Branson, Missouri is located in The Mark Twain National Forrest.

I lived in my car for 2 months a lot of years ago and whenever I did tell somebody I was living in my car I thought it was hilarious that their very first question always was where do you shower? I was like I have a gym membership and I shower there and they're like oh hadn't thought of that. Seems so obvious to me but that was seriously everybody's first question. Even when it comes up in conversation to this day that I did do that for a short time that's always the first question

I use to manager a health food store and boars head is amazing! Their staff is super classy and they have really high standards for their products. I use to get a couple slices of turkey, sandwich pepperoni, Provolone and a roll for 50 cents and made a sandwich for less then 3 bucks.

I add tea tree oil and lavender to baby wipes and this may help when you stop and use the restroom to keep fresh.

I just want to give you a hug ❤️ I lived in my car for a week and it was surreal . I had no choice however to make the best of it. Low key I was so over it . I prayed day and night that my application would process to go through. It didn't go through until 2 years 😩😩😩. I had to pay of some debts. Anyway you remind me of myself when I was homeless, I was a bit In denial and made the best of it.. I also did self care and took care of myself

Great video. Hi. Just a quick question. You can only get a New York State inspection in New York State. Can you please explain how you accomplish keeping your car inspected, all across the country? The registration which is every 2 years must be done in a New York dept of motor vehicles or online, and mailed to a New York residence. Since you’re living in a car, constantly on the move, how would anyone even mail you your registration?

Library restrooms are great. I worked as a home health aide and we were not allowed to use the patients bathroom. I always used the library restrooms and they were all super clean. Their wifi is great too.

I would have a hard time pooping in a public bathroom, especially if it's not a single.
When I lived in my car I ate at Chinese buffets mostly, showered at Anytime Fitness (they have private shower rooms). My stuff was at accessible storage to easily access. Laundry was done at coin-operated laundromats.

I just saw this video today. On the food situation you can also by packets of tuna, salmon, etc for $1 each at Dollar Tree, and slightly higher ($1.50?) at Walmart. You don't have to refrigerate these.
Hi, just an FYI.. you can get good quality inverters at pilot and flying J's. But, but steer clear of ( road pro) brand cookers and such. I had a Crock-Pot short out and caught fire. Wound up burning and charred the interior of my truck. I hope this helps. William. By the way I love love love the scripture reading. 😇

like your idea, wish I was much younger as it is something I probably would do. suggestion, you can purchase a Goal Zero solar charger panel to charge your camera, phone and if large enough your laptop. I have several and use them when camping, doing outdoor stuff. carry on girl.

For the people making fun of her life decisions. You gotta understand something. Imagine living in NY or Long Island or just living in the same spot for your entire life, never getting to travel or buy the house you want one day because you're forking out $1200-$1800 a month to your landlord. This beautiful woman has all the freedom she needs, gets to see things most people never get to see in their lives because their too afraid of getting out of their comfort zone. I recently was laid off and my lease is running out in 5 days and i just got laid off. Unfortunately i didn't save anything because rent is super expensive and other bills and what not, and everything just came at once so i'm forced to have to do what she's doing but in a much worse situation lol. Don't have money to even get half of the stuff i'll need just to be able to eat, gas insurance..etc. But hey everything happens for a reason. Hoping i can save up enough to buy a Toyota Sienna 2004+ and make it into a van camper conversion and those mini vans are dirt cheap. Down the road i'll most likely get a cargo passenger van to actually have a shower, stove, sink, computer, tv and basically everything a studio apartment has.
