  • Ashley Campbell is "Remembering" Glen's life following his diagnosis with Alzheimer's disease in 2011. As the world bids a final goodbye to Glen Campbell, who died at age 81, Ashley shared a touching Twitter image of her hand locked in her father's, writing: "Heartbroken. I owe him everything I am, and everything I ever will be. He will be remembered so well and with so much love."
    Alzheimer's Disease is cruel.

A beautiful tribute to a fantastic man, always loved his music even named my son after him 44 years ago. We certainly miss him.

Yes, she's stunning and has a unique singing style, much as her father did, and I think that she will be a big star very soon.

I've never liked country music, but I saw the video title and felt compelled to click the link. I've listened to this song more times than I can count since then. The part at 3:01 when she cuts the verse short catches me every goddamn time.

Such a brave young lady. Beautiful song, and if you've lost a parent or other loved one to Alzheimer's, it sucks. My mom had it and in the last 10 years of her life she couldn't call my boys by name and in her last 5 years she couldn't call me by name either. What was nice was that if she was in her wheelchair in the dining area or coming up the hall from her room, as soon as our eyes would meet, her face lit up so bright. She knew we were someone she should know but she couldn't even put 2 words together that made sense. It's been 13 years since she finally passed away, and even though she said and did things that would have embarrassed her to tears if she hadn't been battling this disease, those who cared for her at the nursing home who knew her before she got violent or other things, they came to her funeral and they were crying along with us. I'm sure it had to do with the fact that my oldest sister worked there, but you can't fake the emotion they showed. Mom was blessed. I just wish I could have heard her tell me that she loved me or that she was proud of me. I realize they didn't do things like that in her generation, (I was an "oops" or "accident" or any other adjective) so I grew up as an only child for the most part and while she always cooked great meals, I was glad I lived on a farm because I could be gone for hours just exploring, then come inside, walk past her without her even acknowledging that I'd been gone. Maybe it was starting then already. I guess I'll never know. God bless you Ashley and your many brothers and sisters as well as your mom and all who loved your dad. He was such an amazing musician. Wichita Lineman was my first favorite and still is.

Borrowed from "Country Road TV". Such a beautiful song. The snow flakes symbolize tear drops in my eyes. The words are there so you can sing along. Everyone is effected by the cycles of life. This is the original: th-cam.com/video/aZ58YOgZi4M/w-d-xo.html

    - Putting a spin on an already beautiful song. Alzheimer's disease is real. Over 5.5 million Americans of all ages have Alzheimer's disease in 2016. This includes an estimated 5.3 million people age 65 and older and approximately 200,000 individuals under age 65 who have younger-onset Alzheimer's. One in ten people age 65 and older (10 percent) has Alzheimer's disease. ( www.dshs.texas.gov/alzheimers/qanda.shtm )
