I'll build myself one of these bracket for my property out west. The only difference is that I'll bolt the winch to the tree, and add one more pulley under the bracket. Nice job
@@SteveRobReviews I was thinking the same thing. Another pully at the tree st thebase of the pole with the winch mounted to the tree. The other pully could act like a snatch block. Awesome job.
@@billfischer6464 All good ideas and I will mention them in the future as I just may have to implement them in the future . Oh well it's a lot of fun and I learn a lot from my viewers . Thanks Bill.
Nothing more I want than a barrel full of corn eight feet up in the air 😂 looks like we may have to come and make sure it’s done just right next time! Thanks Buddy!!!
Nice job Steve, but I would try mounting that winch on the metal part attached to the tree so the bear can't easily get to it. I have a feeling that strap won't make it through the fall.
How's she goin'? The bracket went on the tree pretty slick. The top guy, I think, would be better than a gusset. With that long a beam, it sure adds to the force that wants to bend the main boom. Pretty neat though. I like working on projects like this where you create a solution for a problem. But like the guy says, for every solution there is a problem!!! Take care!!!
Looked at it this morning but I could not comment at the time so I looked at it again just to see if it would come together better than this morning....sideways a bit but it all comes together in the end....Plan B,C,D,E and F and also to be followed...the bears are going to love you....hope you left them a latter....CHEERS
Great job! Rarely does a job go exactly as planned. When you put the pole on the shaft and mentioned the barrel was 80lbs I thought that might not support that weight but you solved that quickly with the support wire. I LOL when you said the feeder went off and scared you LOL. It's going to be a good deer harvest for you this year brother! Cheers
Well that was interesting but you got the job done! Trial and error always seems to work well for me. Now I want you to know when I was laughing during the video. I was laughing with you and not at you. Can't wait for the next installment!
Didn't use a level? That is a lot of weight. Yes we see the bend, lol. It's 9:30! lol. Good fixes ti make it work Steve. A lot of tension going on! Good luck with the add on next!
I didn't want to kill the tree but interesting enough a friend worked in forestry and told me using lag screws would not kill the tree so I did just that . Bit of a gong show without but it's a learning process 😅😅
Hey Steve. Good thing there is always plan B and sometimes even C & D 😂 So since I'm so smart...You feed the dear with corn ....so you can shoot 'em ? or what ? I wanted to see the 5 second corn spray 😂👍👋 I'm sure next time it will be easier.
Hey Steve, that contraption reminds me of one them Vietcong boobytraps! Lol, hey you never know, that thing might let loose and spear kill one of them bears! Lol
STEVE ROB REVIEWS Hi Steve, I’m just giving you hell jokingly, I think you would be better off coming either straight out with that piece, or maybe up to a 15 degree angle, then mounting a cross brace underneath directly to the tree, that would be the strongest way to do it, and that is how they build girder bridges, which is pretty much exactly what you are building, only nothing on the other side, I think if you look at it from that perspective it will help you design this. Have a good one Steve, look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Thanks Jeffery , well that's a good idea too. I will try my design first and yours second because its a good idea. Lets see how the new design works first and onto plan "B" LOL
@@SteveRobReviews i think you gusset will work as long as the material is thick enough. The problem is with the extension being that long its like having a fulcrum, theres allot of pressure on the end of that bar where it fits into the bracket, if the load is lets say 300lbs, the force on that end is probably guessing 5 times that. Lets see how the gusset works, curious.
STEVE your scaring me to Death! Whew! All this for a deer feeder! I'm going to show you how to caught a deer I feed them with my hand! (Bambi)! LOLOL But Darn I give you credit for the most creative inventions! When does it go on sale! By yourself 14 foot in the air! Hmm what could go wrong? Corn Barrel Hoisting System! ( I laughted during this whole video not being mean I was scared to what could go wrong)!
Annie it's an adventure everytime I step outside , anything can happen and does. My next design is in the works and another barrel will be fired up a tree , hell or high water. LOL
I could do that here in NY. If I wanted to go to jail. :) Illegal to hunt over bait and in fact Wildlife Feeding is Illegal for Deer, Bear, and Moose in New York State.
All legal up here Kim , of course . Interesting enough so far has not worked out to my benefit except for spending a lot of money on corn. Seems they are only feeding at night so I'm not sold on this idea yet 😅
The handle must rotate on the winch plus its great cardio. Did not help me putting the cable on backwards on the winch , nobody seen that :) Next one will be slick maybe and much easier but it's going in the bush deep for the monster bucks.

HAHA plan "B" with a redesign and a new crew might help. LMAO
nice work. I saw that thing bending and thought its not going to work. like you said trial and error , keep at it .thumbs up
The bending I did not predict , yes baby steps :)

How much feed do you go through in a season?
LOL
About 200 pounds
Oh you make me laugh Steve! Although you scared the bejaysus out of me standing under that pole! 🙈😂😂😂

Reminded me of red green hoistin her up... makes me thing t-bracket weld bracing may have helped some lol. One hella setup

Always a plan B and then some , lots of challenges designing stuff and being a youtube star at the same time :)
As exciting to watch as Spacex Falcon Heavy launch... just the smoke coming out of the bottom of the barrel was missing.!
HAHAHA maybe the next lunar barrel launch with show the corn thrusters blasting off .

Where did you get that barrel? Hard to find 30 gallon barrels with screw on lids.
I had a friend that gave them to me but places that sell barrels usually get these once in a while too. Search online in your area.
Why don't you bolt the crank pulley to the tree, make it easy for you

Paivi all I know is I have the best fed deer in the north and we don't see squat. LOL
Heh hee
It was well secured to the tree but there was no way that dinky little bar was going to do the job. Don't stand underneath it! 🐻
I actually thought dinky would hold 75 pounds LOL
Those deer are lucky to have you around. :)
HAHA yes well fed and never bothered .
I would cut off the wooden legs because a big bear on his hind legs can dig his claws in the wooden legs and pull it down
And how do I fill the barrel without any legs . LOL
STEVE ROB REVIEWS no just shorten them. It fills from the top don’t it?
@@CalvinsCorner72 Yes , actually that's a good idea . 👍
Bar is to long without additional bracing. If the wind picks up to the left or right.....
So far its holding up great 👍
