That is atleast impressive than just being hidden. Do you really think L is dumb? L is the worlds greatest detective, he has one of the best deduction in the whole SCD community. Even if the criminal is hidden, just one trace will lead him to the criminal. That’s just how much of a logical reasoning monster L is. Yuuichi will also leave the same traces for example his manipulation, he would’ve killed some important people like Light and L would’ve noticed. Yuuichi isn’t as smart as Light. Light can make more genius moves than Yuuichi making him an easier target for L (I’m referring to Yuuichi)

He was able to convince the task force for atleast 5 years with L until being finally convinced by Near.
