what i would like to see is that you could basicly upgrade the dragons in different ways, depending on your accention path: for example: Psionic accention: the dragons psionic power gets unlocked giving it one psionic shield ans some naativ shield (like 10k or something) Genetic accention: the dragon gets geneticlly modified so that it has higher hull and amor/regeneration and the hatchlings hatch faster synthetik accention: the Dragon gets an artificcial armor around it which is fussed to it, giving it another 10% base armor, and its nativ point defense gets replase by the highest that your species has unlocked(autoupgrading upon the research of a better one)
Yeah I think the flaw with a whole lot of the origins is their lack of scalability to matter as the game progresses. Dragon is super OP in the start, fine after a few decades, and a trophy floating over your capital by even the mid game. Which is quite sad, because dragon cool.

Fun stuff! Pompous Purist is pretty fun, enjoying it on other origins. If you ever do a run with dragons again, maybe with mods or the like, I STRONGLY suggest trying the Reanimators civic with it. Fun synergy, and this start really encourages you to sit in your well protected system longer than usual; helps for playing tall and tossing up fortress habitats on chokepoints!
Lol... the only time I've tried going Reanimators I fucked it up by going Synthetic Ascension and then it deactivated it lmao Might try that with the Dragon origin now that you mentioned it

One of the problems with the living metal thing is that while you have a guaranteed deposit, you do not currently get the ability to research the technology to _mine_ living metal. Hopefully something that will be changed in the future.
That's what I found in my run with the origin as well. I was well into the repeatables, and the Living Metal tech never showed up. Had to resort to a console command to unlock the tech and get started on hatching the Fledglings.

They're basically very expensive battleships with titan weapon, whom you can get slightly early. Maybe good for behind the station camping?
10:15 What you can do, is form a federation with any other empire, change the law that subjects can join and then kick the empire you formed the federation with, leaving you with a federation consisting only of you and your subjects. You can exploit this with a tech federation to gain research agreements with all your subjects (even protectorates), effectively multiplying your research speed (repeatable tech counts as researched for everyone you have a research agreement with and vice-versa, regardless of how often the tech was researched, thus granting you the maximum research bonus for every federation member).
I really love that portrait from the aquatics pack. It's one of the only portraits that feels like multiple aliens in the picture, and they kind of look half coral, which is neat for an aquatic species. Excited to see how the dragon origin plays out for you!
Consider yourself lucky you got the tech to harvest living metal. In both of my attempts at the Here Be Dragons origin I ended up having to buy living metal from a FE because the tech to harvest it never showed up.
Sadly there isn't an achievement for resurrecting Shar and Ember so you have 3, count 'em, _3_ adult dragons to rule the universe! I also got a Tiyanky Matriarch, but she was so slow I ended up leaving her to protect my central nexus, the L-sector nexus system. Which had the Gray Tempest, preventing me from reaching Max Dragon.

I could totally imagine the species appearance to be some sort of egg structure. It kinda looks like there is some kind of wyrm/worm/slug coming out of the tree-like blossoms. Probably doesn't work well since obvious you cant turn leaders into dragons, but it totally does share some similarity with the dragon in the spawn system
At 10 minutes in, Lathrix realises he can't ask the split off colony to form a federation because of their Pompous civic. How long until he realised that the colony are ALSO stopped because of the civic?
I feel like the origin will need a touch of love in a modded setting. It's a cool idea and great for RPing. I do not think it would hold up when playing with gigastructures, new ship classes (NSC2) or Ancient cache of technologies (ACOT) in any combination. It seems faily balanced for vanilla, even strong when rushed as stated in the outro, but "power creep" in mods will make it RP only, or mods will have to tweak it (like add an event or tech to "accelerate" growing up of the dragons, or research "mutations" (= new equip) so they can scale into modded mid-dand-late-game. As someone who LOVES his gigastructures and NSC2, I cannot see myself using this origin (and before anyone makes this point: obviously NO origin can compare to the outright "broken" ones in gigastructures) I'd love to see a full themed run, maybe even a challenge run centered around the dragons (which would probably be really difficult to pull off and to make an engaging video out of)

Honestly, what I've gotten from watching the "Full Playthrough" videos so far is that Strike Craft are insanely good at pretty much any stage of the game, provided you're not relying solely on them in the late game.

I feel like if you stop sending them in alone your dragons would die far less than they do currently. Use a regular fleet as a buffer, and the Dragons come in behind them.
