To be honest, I kind of feel for the kid in this one. Yes, hiding the report card and lying was bad, but he has probably needed help and support with improving his grades for a while, assuming he hasn't received that. Dude needs to reach out for the help he needs. This should apply in real life, too. Punishing for lying is fine, but I don't think one should be punished for their bad grades which could be caused by a lack of motivation, or anything really. If you're reading this, and you relate to this kid in some ways like I kinda do, the best thing you can do is ask your teacher to help you out if you don't understand something in the class - or even ask your parents to arrange tutoring if that's possible for you. Many factors can come into play such as mental health, and stress. Those are things I definitely struggle with a lot, and many other people do as well. And impressing a girl is really not something that can interfere with school work. The fault in the character is his tendency to lie in order to avoid a situation. That isn't good. But in real life, we should look at that more, and think about what that kid may be going through in his/her head.

That’s because in the past kids (for some odd reason) absolutely loved playing outside and staying inside would be considered very boring. Therefore getting grounded would mean you don’t get to go outside to play with your friends. Which would be torture if you lived in a world where modern day technology doesn’t exist. Nowadays parents don’t necessarily ground their children, they simply take away their electronic. The concept of “grounding” might also have changed recently. It might just means no video games.

You know school is like you on a bicycle climbing mountains. In the first levels, your friends might get ahead of you while your still climbing. But that doesn’t mean they will leave you. They will wait for you every once and a while. The main goal is that you get better and improve, not getting to the top. Because school is not wether or not you finish, it’s about improving and developing your intellectual and moral character. You might meet obstacles on the way but you have to know how to get past them. Then on the middle and last levels, you will have developed and improved and will eventually, get to the top of the mountain. That’s how school/life is.

That’s because in the past kids (for some odd reason) absolutely loved playing outside and staying inside would be considered very boring. Therefore getting grounded would mean you don’t get to go outside to play with your friends. Which would be torture if you lived in a world where modern day technology doesn’t exist. Nowadays parents don’t necessarily ground their children, they simply take away their electronic. The concept of “grounding” might also have changed recently. It might just means no video games.

I never got to ground my son because of his dad. I understand there are parents who spank within reason, punish within reason, and their youngster still refuses to act right because they are not robots and cannot force them to fear consequences, but sadly, my son's father for most part do not even try, nor say no when it is needed. But my ex-domestic partner sure did not have a problem using the word no with me......

The story is about a boy who uses his mom's belief and trust in him. He gets his report card with all C's and D's, but lies to his mom and teacher, so he won't get in trouble. Also, liesd to his classmate - Alicia, that he knows how board just to impress her. Eventually, every lie he told came to light, and I hope he learned a very good lesson from what happened. This story has a great moral, and let this be a reminder to everyone; "what happens in the dark, always comes to light". Good job Dhar, keep it up with your positive and inspiring stories!

In the first place, if a kid would be THAT scared to show his parents his report card, there's something wrong with those parents, one reason being that the kid will grow up never wanting to try something that might not be successful

My thoughts on this: he shouldn't of lied about skateboarding for the girl, but I can understand why he lied to his mom. He fears her because instead of being supportive for his efforts and finding ways he can improve, she punishes him, so he lied to not get punished.
Parents need to be more supportive so that their children do not feel the need to lie to them.
Update: plus the little brother did an a-hole move by getting with the girl, knowing his older brother had a big crush on her.

punishment isnt the right thing to do when your son/daughter gets bad grades, you should either get him a tutor and watch him study or help him
Firstly I'm pretty sure the punishment was for lying about the report card. Secondly if he tried and still bad then it's not really that kids fault cuz they gave their best however if the kid didn't try at all and got bad grades then it's really the kids fault the only thing a parent can do is watch them study

You know school is like you on a bicycle climbing mountains. In the first levels, your friends might get ahead of you while your still climbing. But that doesn’t mean they will leave you. They will wait for you every once and a while. The main goal is that you get better and improve, not getting to the top. Because school is not wether or not you finish, it’s about improving and developing your intellectual and moral character. You might meet obstacles on the way but you have to know how to get past them. Then on the middle and last levels, you will have developed and improved and will eventually, get to the top of the mountain. That’s how school/life is.

Tbh this is so relatable, even if you did well teachers still give you bad grades for whatever reason internally, what's worse is when the teacher puts on a mask to make themselves look nice and ofc the parent believes them.
