Is true!I have a mini in lamb skin and I have no scratches on the outside at all ,just on the inside of the bag and talking about wallet on a chain in caviar ,that after 3month of wear you can definitely see some wear in the corners of the bag...and I'm really careful whit my bags....I think I will not repurchase another caviar again from Chanel☝🏻️🙌🏻.Love your channel✌🏻️🤗
I most definitely agree with you. 2/3 of my bags are lambskin. Chanel leathers of any type are sensitive... If anyone wants a tank, get LV canvas..... I also agree about your point with SAs... I've seen really finicky people at Chanel who freak about about any scratch... I can see why SAs push toward caviar. But also at the same time, I've scratched my caviar bag and it did not "heal" like my lambskin so... That stinks because once you scratch caviar, there's no going back. Nothing can fix it =\ At the end of the day, go with what you like. Chanel's are expensive... They get better with use and age. I've noticed Chanel's die more sitting in closets unloved than out and about maybe getting a scratch or two... You're already spending your hard earned money, just enjoy it. You're not taking it to the grave with you as the saying goes!
+Shannon W Thank you so much for this amazing comment dear Shannon :) I could not have said it better myself and I could not agree more with you on all points! So true that CHANEL bags get better with usage and time! If they sit around they do not age too well. And so true that there s almost never a coming back from caviar leather scratches! Lambskin is definitely more forgiving! And as for the grave... yepp.. we are not taking these beauties with us to our graves so we better get the best milage out of them while we are healthy and alive :) xoxo
I am so grateful that I saw this video. I bought my first Chanel yesterday, jumbo double flap caviar. I think I felt it was indestructible lol After this video, I do realize I need to really take good care of it. I am also buying a lamb skin tomorrow. This video has some really good information, and saved me a lot of heartache. Thank you soooooo much
+Karisha Parks Thank you Karisha for the wonderful and supportive comment! I appreciate it a lot! Wish you loads of fun and joy with your new CHANEL babies :) xoxo
"It's overpriced anyways." So true. So, I have an idea about why the baseline prices for luxury products have skyrocketed. The advent of social media gave fashion brands a new revenue resource. As customers (both celebrity ones and everyday people) shared images of their new, luxurious purchases online, their friends and followers were inundated with a sort of grassroots subliminal advertising. Demand for accessories - especially those by established or trendy fashion houses - went up because people started buying things to not only make themselves happy or impress people they knew - they were sharing their buys with the entire world, gradually influencing more and more people into buying these products. Cult bags became fad bags, and now, there are instagrammers who buy bags just because they want likes or because they feel they have to as they see everyone else they admire carrying it. Fashion brands can now charge whatever they wish as demand for their products keeps going up. With the way things are going, I see a future of price increases in store for fans of Chanel®, Louis Vuitton®, Hermes® and other luxury houses.
Dear Justice! I think you are definitely on to something! Social media has created an amazing fertile and above all cost free terrain for many brands to grow their customer bases. This allows them to also raise theri prices more and more since demand is growing rapidly. xoxo
Yes. My small double flap now $5800; bought two of them, one in lamb, one in caviar, right before the 2020 Coronavirus price increase. After watching this, I am probably going to sell my caviar...Brand new, never used, from heart of house.
Love how you take the long view on lambskin vs. caviar! I intend to keep my Chanels forever and pass them to my daughter. So I shouldn't be wary of lambskin. Big thumbs up for this video! You rock!
I actually use a lambskin wallet daily now and it has held up wonderfully! I waterproof it with Collonil waterstop spray and no problems. At the end of the day, I think if you have long nails, don't get lambskin but if you don't like myself, lambskin is seriously the way to go. Buttery Chanel lambskin leather is seriously heavenly XD
I love the buttery CHANEL lambskin touch! Yummy! But yeah.. nails are tricky when it comes to opening and closing the bags and all small leather goods... its the most tricky part ;) xoxo
Thanks! I bought the lambskin WOC and was regretting and thought of getting caviar instead but you helped me decide to keep it. Will keep you posted on wear.
I favor lambskin too & am seriously considering a Chanel small flap wallet in lambskin. It’s just SO gorgeous & MUCH more so than caviar. However, I really have been quite concerned about purchasing it in lambskin even though I generally, take quite good care of my leather items. Likely, I will still go for the lambskin and if if I plan on going on a trip where it’s more likely to get banged-up a bit, I’ll switch-out to a different wallet (coated canvas, etc.).
i agree with you 100%. i have a 80‘s lambskin belt bag and also a 90‘s caviar shoulder bag. the lambskin bag is 15years older and the overall condition was more used than the caviar one but the lambskin is still buttery and soft and looks amazing. the caviar got some sort of dry i would say, lost its shinyness and i noticed some cracking on the areas rhat got bend alot (like the sides on the flap etc) wich the lambskin dont have at all. maybe they scratch easier but as you said-you can buff the scratches out. im definately team lambskin even if caviar is beautiful too
well said Dave! Yes, oldschool CHANEL lambskin was amazing! Many newer bags unfortunately do not use for the most part good quality lambskin... or not nearly as good as it used to be in past so today one needs to be careful when purchasing a new lambskin bag.
@@SuperDacob yes thats what i also heart many times that the old school lambskin was way better. i dont own a newer lambskin bag, only caviar, calfskin or canvas when it comes to newer models so i cant say much about todays lambskin quality but i wouldn’t be affraid to get one even if ots more delicate because the way lambskin looks is just next level in my opinion ☺️☺️
Dacob, I've learnt loads off you!! I'm saving for my first Chanel and from day one I've always been drawn to lambskin - it just exudes a sense of pure luxury and timeless elegance. I couldn't take my eyes off your lambskin bag haha. Your video is great as now I don't feel the need to push myself to go for caviar! Now if only I can save up quickly enough to go get my hands on one!! PS: are you thinking of doing an FAQs or draw my life kinda video - we'd love to know more about you :) xx
+Michelle Lee Thanks Michelle :) You should go for it! No matter what you decide to get (leatehrwise) if you take good care of your bag, it will be amazing for years and years to come! I have three caviar bags and they are all beautiful! No wear and tear! But I baby thm like I would lambskin :) xoxo
Very interesting and new perspective on these leathers. I am looking to purchase a Jumbo flap and have been vacillating between the two. After watching your video I think Lambskin is the way to go. Thank you so much!
Dacob,agree100%,and l think my new Jumbo Single Flap in Lambskin is living proof, this Beauty is 22 years old and is the most Gorgeous,Delectable thing imaginable, clearly it has been well cared for but it's Class and Maturity is Stunning,Xoxoxo.
Don't worry about it! It is a delicate leather but it can age very gracefully if you take care especially of its corners and edges while wearing. Just don't bump into things with the bag while wearing it ;) xoxo
Thats why I personally prefer the smaller bags, because I can protect them with my hands while I walk in crowded spaces. Bigger bags are more hard to protect from bumps.
Dacab, love watching your videos !!!!!! You are the most honest youtuber who has the most reliable opinion about Chanel products. I started to in love with Chanel since I bought my first Chanel wallet in calfskin and Lambskin chevron mini. In the past two years ,I bought a few more pieces of Chanel. One is because I truest love the design of Chanel. Two is because the frequent price increase has been crazy. I feel like I wanna acquire as much as classic piece that I will love forever. However, there have been four detected items/quality issue among my purchase. For us who are not rich enough to buy a Chanel bag without considerations, the quality of recent Chanel products really make me heartbroken. The recent defect one is on my boy Chanel in caviar leather. I have just used it for 3 TIMES since I bought it in Jan. I found the leather is peeling. I was shocked. How is it possible that caviar leather would be fragile like that ? I do baby my bag and handle it really carefully. Then I did some research online. I’ve many cases of peeling caviar leather and also others quality issues. I remember you’ve mentioned that the caviar now Chanel produce is different from what they used to do. I believe this is one of the reason why the NEW CAVIAR LEATHER are easier to peel......I brought my bag to Chanel, they agree to make a exchange for me. I am thinking to get a Calf Leather Boy chanel bag instead. I was terrified by the caviar leather now they produced. Though my caviar WOC and coin purse are still in good condition. I wanna ask for your opinion on Classic flap. I wanna purchase the classic flap medium/Large in caviar leather. Do you think it is still a good idea ? Or I should switch to lamb skin classic flap? I want my classic flap be my forever piece, not something that will tear apart after a few months/years......😩
Thank you! So the new caviar is not as stable as quite a few people have had issues with it. I am not sure if I would recommend buying a classic flap any longer in caviar... you need to go to the boutique and see the caviar.... they still have several versions of caviar leather quality. if it is the older caviar then you are good to go but you need to feel it, to smell it, to touch it and see the grain size of the caviar. Black color is usually safer to buy since you see less use on it in time. xoxo
Thank you Dacab 😘 I purchased the medium large classic flap in caviar lather which is made in France. The grain size is NORMAL and the texture feels pretty sturdy. Finally got the classic flap as I don’t want to experience another price increase. LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR VIDEOS.
I love both looks, be it caviar or lambskin. And I will always treat my lambskin with kid gloves. If ever I end up with something in caviar it will be cherished and taken care of too with just as much love as I lavish on my little lamb. This was so educational. Thank you Professor Dacob!
The thing I find with caviar is once the pebbling wears off that’s it. This is especially prominent on corner wear. The pebbling can’t be restored and the smoothing is noticeable. Lambskin is smooth by nature. Yes it can show scratches but overall I agree with you, lambskin will look better, longer.
Thanks for the video. Yes it does seem like a lot of people think that the caviar leather is like a tank and is indestructible. I love my lamb skin bag. So far it's been great and no issues ❤️😘😍😉
I normally go for caviar when it comes to bigger items and lambskin for small ones. Caviar in my opinion goes well with SHW and lambskin with GHW. Thanks for an informative video x
I just got a lambskin jumbo flap and have refused to use it due to all the hype about it being super delicate but this video has made me feel so much better about it lol def subscribed
+Tyra Sims Thants great Tyra :) Glad you will use your bag! Wish you a lot of fun with it! Thank you for subscribing! Welcome to the fashion bunker family :) xoxo
Love your energy and personality! I recently became the new owner of a Chanel double flap, medium, caviar leather. My husband then surprised me with the Chanel caviar medium wallet for date nights. I wanted the WOC but I’m 4 ft 10 in and its extremely long on me. Great compromise i guess. The only lambskin piece i own is from the rocket collection it is in red lambskin, it’s an oversized card holder (small o case)😢. You are so right regarding the feel and wear of lambskin.I also have the card holder with the flap being delivered!! One happy lady over here. Your videos are sooo amazing keep them coming.
I had a black caviar medium classic flap shw from NM in 2014 that I ended up selling three years later. It looked like I just walked out of boutique with it, though that is because I rarely carried it; I just didn't care for the plastic look and feel. Just last month I bought the black lambskin shw from boutique in the small, and I am over the moon!!! My SA said that scratches can be buffed out on lamb (and I got to experience this for myself, thanks to my nails), whereas calfskin and/or caviar cannot be removed. I am awaiting another lamb bag in grey to arrive; I doubt I will ever have caviar, again.
Have both love both,my lambskin ages better than my caviar quilted.my Chevron piecies both look the same, chevron and camellia bags because of the texture ,do not loose as much as the quilted,,in the long run I like quilted lambskin, and camellia and chevron in anything they no not change as much as quilted, the patterns keep the same look over time,it doesn't matter the leather. Xoxo MJ.
Hello from San Jose, CA. I just recently found your videos and I enjoyed most of them. By the way, you were the first person on TH-cam that I ever subscribed. You are so well versed in a particular subject. By the way, what do you think about CC 22B Shiny Cavia WOC cross body? I am so obsessed with lambskin as you said but I just wanted to know your opinion. Thanks in advance.
Fabulous video...last year on my annual trip to Paris my aim was to buy the m/l lambskin classic but the SA actually talked me out of it and I ended up buying a seasonal piece (filigree classic in Bordeaux caviar which I adore) ...after this video though, on this year's trip, I shall purchase my originally planned lambskin beauty. Thank you for helping me finally decide!
Awesome video, Dacob!! I actually agree. The lambskin over a longer period of time looks better than a lot of caviar pieces. Creasing and slouching on caviar is not pretty. Have a wonderful weekend 🌺 💕 🌸 💕 XOXO
I have the Chanel wallet in lambskin leather. It comes with a buffing cloth which you showed, and I use often to refresh it when needed. Handbags I chose caviar.
Love this subject. I learn a lot from your Chanel videos. I have both. For the amount of money I've spent and will spend I love lamb skins feel and look. I don't want scratches but if I do I'll make sure to buff it with the cloth but it is character and part of our story. My WOC is brown caviar and great for everyday and traveling. But in the future I'll keep in mind all you've said
+Chrissy Murray Thank you for the lovely comment Chrissy :) Yes, both leathers are magical in their own way. also prefer the WOC in caviar but thats just my aesthetical choice and the light surface scratches on the lambskin really do give it a character and story because they are your scratches. Granted the bag came pristine and new from the boutique and the scratches came along the time you have been using it.
I’m getting my 1st Chanel classic card case. The associate talked me into getting caviar but everyone telling me to get lambskin. I would be using it on daily bases as a wallet what u think. Should I return and get lambskin. I’m good with my bags. I don’t baby them but I’m on hard on them either. Which one will fit my life style.
Great video Dacob ! I totally agree with you on both leathers.. And similarly- I change preferences all the time :) currently, though, lambskin is my fave.. We'll see what I think next week ;) thanks for the great video XoXOX
Love the review dacob.. So insightful xx.. I also know your very insightful about perfumes, and I have a very small question as to whether you have smelled / experienced / reviewed Mancera roses vanille.. And your thoughts on it...As I want to buy a perfume with vanilla that is extremely long lasting .. Any recommendations please on long lasting perfumes xoxo
+Michelle Peiris Sorry, haven't tried Mancera roses. Vanilla... the original version of Hypnotic Poison is a vanilla bomb with almonds... even the new formulation is even though on my skin it has an added smokey tough.
My dear friend, I love Chanel and Louis Vuitton, but I Really want to use my bags , I mean , yes I don’t want to waste money but I don’t want to be afraid about my bags , so I am thinking to sell my Chanel caviar and go to Chanel lamb skin , I want to enjoy it not to suffer it.
Thank you so much for this wonderful video. All I hear around is don't buy lambskin buy caviar it is more durable. So I bought a preloved Jumbo Caviar GHW single flap and I love it. It is from 2008 but I do intend to buy a M/L lambskin SHW. I had second thoughts about it but now with your video I am going to. I also baby my bags so I guess I won't have any problems. So once again Thank you Thank you Thank you :)
Dacob can you do a video on the variations on caviar leather. Some of the grains are small and rougher and some are softer and bigger and apparently there’s a whole bunch of other variations or more shiny, matte, more plush and I don’t see a single person talking about it.
Hey sweetie, I totally concur with you. I had that mindset then with caviar until I'd owned a vintage square mini lambskin & she still looks gorg till to date. Have a superD weekend! xoxoxo
Interesting. I don't mind superficial scratches but I had a jumbo in lamb and the corners were scuffed and matt very quickly. I sold it to get caviar, I looked at a lamb medium in store yesterday and it looked damaged already! Dents, scratches inside and the flap was not straight because it wasn't stuffed; but I agree after 20 years lamb still looks great if not damaged but with my lifestyle caviar is less risky. I use leather conditioner once a year and it look better thanks for your great videos.
Thank you dear Bee :) So sweet of you! By the way, I think the reason why the lambskins recently already look less than great in the boutiques is because I feel they have started using a way cheaper leather, cheaper leather supplier and cheaper leather treatment. Their lambskin is not what it used to be! There are rare exceptions like some batches of timeless classics made in France but even those are only perfect a couple times a year... I usually see better classic lambskin CHANEL bags around spring time.. It almost feels like the workers might have less pressure to produce more bags after the holiday season and I see that transfer to the quality of the bags. Leather is an issue in most luxury brands these days and CHANEL is unfortunately not an exception. There seems to be a sort of almost plasticky feel to the finish of the bags and the smell of most of them is not really a rich leather smell we are used to from CHANEL but rather a sort of faint chemical plasticky smell... This is not the case with all of their bags but unfortunately with most of them it is... xoxo
Very good points SuperD. I totally get it. it is almost as if we are speaking about small character superficial scratches vs a large change defect over time if not cared for... regardless we are over cautious with all the bags no matter what. so that makes it that i have two caviar and one lambskin. and you are right love both for different reasons and each give a bag certain character. thank you for another wonderful video, my dear making my day brighter. big hugs to you Dacob!!! xoxoxoxox
+ChanelLV Yaaay :) Glad you liked the video dear! As you said it! Both caviar and lambskin are good for different reasons of character. and we need to take care of both leathers :) xoxo
New subbie here! I've been binge watching your videos. You're so lovely. Okay so Chanel WOC question: if you could go back in time, would you get the WOC in lamb skin or do you prefer that bag with caviar?
Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel dear :) Welcome to the fashion bunker family :) To answer your question, yes, I would do it all over again :) WOC in caviar! I love it. :) But I would one day love to buy a MAXI double flap or maybe Jumbo double flap in lambskin ;) and perhaps an extravagant colorway :) xoxo
Dacob, what do you think of calfskin for the timeless totes? I just bought one; looks and feels like velvet. You know more than the SAs! Would you keep it? It is really beautiful, though want to be sure my $5k tote will look as beautiful years from now as it does, today. I baby my bags the way you do....
Thanks for the video!! I want to buy my first Chanel bag Chanel woc but I am undecided on the lambskin vs caviar...I still am not 100% but your video did help a lot!! Thanks!
Hi dacob, new subscriber. Great review. Now im not affraid or worrying bout lambskin, Im planning to buy woc classic in lambskin, this coming xmas. Im so excited. Thank u so much God bless. Merry xmas.
Hi Dacob, Have you had experience with lamb skin boys? I missed out on the original calfskin collection (black quilted with gold hardware) in 2015. After looking for that combination for two years, I was finally able to locate a black quilted boy with gold hardware-only in lambskin. I purchased it because I love the look. I’m embarrassed to say that I have not once used it after hearing that lamb skin (especially on the sharp corners of the boy bag) does not hold up well. Another TH-cam posted about her terrible experience with the same bag. After watching your video, however, I have a bit more confidence towards the bag. If you’ve had experience with the boy in lamb skin, please share. Or any tips would be appreciated!
Hi jas. I am sorry to say that I cannot help you here since I do not own any Boy bags nor have I used them. So I have no experience with Boy wear and tear issues... :/
COULD YOU PLEASE DO AN UPDATE VIDEO OF THE WOC IN CAVIAR 😩 I don't know which woc I should buy? Caviar or lambskin. I have 2 kids and want the bags will last forever! Does your woc loose its shape? Sorry for my English. Best wishes from Germany 🇩🇪
Hi Naselle, if your kids get their hands on the WOC, I am afraid there is no leather that would survive what kids would do to it LOL! Unless your kids are grown up and in their teens. LOL. Otherwise I would get the caviar. It is more heavy duty in WOC form but it is also not indestructible and it must not be overstuffed and it also must not be overstuffed with heavy things. xoxo
Hi Dacob, thank you for the comparison and I totally agree with you! When you baby something obvious it will look better and I don't understand why other people though that the caviar was stronger it's not, at all, like you said. I was wondering how you feel towards the brand Chanel after all the drama with your bag? Do you still think that the bags hold the same value as they did to you before? I'm with you when you say that owning a classic Chanel double bags are like owning a part of history because I too have felt that way. Because after what happened to you and your bag, makes me rethink any possible purchase of Chanel. long comment I know, I'm sorry, ps I adore your videos :)
+Jasmine Parmar Thank you so much for the lovely comment dear Jasmine! I love long comments so please do not apologize for the length :) When a comment is longer the passion and love shows even more! As for my ongoing CHANEL drama (and I say "ongoing" because as of today I still haven't heard back from CHANEL regarding my eventual voucher), it hasn't changed my love for the heritage and history of the brand. Has it shifted my trust and willpower to invest more money in the future in their bags? Yes, it has. Unfortunately I must say that it has made me very very sceptical about their integrity and respect towards their customers. I will battle this one battle out and hopefully get my voucher before any possible new price increases. I will then use the voucher to pruchase perhaps one last bag or garment or other accessory (only if made in France) and then I will observe how the brand evolves. If their issues get solved or not. But as for the near future I will definitely be as cautious as a prairie dog in the desert! haha! You know how histerically cautious they are when they poke out of their nests looking for potential danger and predators in their surrounding? haha! That will be me at CHANEL in the near future ;) xoxo
Thanks for this video! Btw do you know if caviar leather is still available in the market? COz I dont see it anymore on chanel on line store, I see mostly lambskin on iconic section.. Or perhaps I'm lost on their site (?)
I want to get my first chanel lambski this year, but I live in Amsterdam and the weather here is rainy as f, what you guys think? should I go for it or buy a "tank" better?
Tricky call! Caviar seems to react better to water but then again we have the metal hardware which should never get wet really... I would get a small bag so that you can protect it under a coat or under the umbrella when it rains. If its small enough then it does not matter if its lambskin or caviar. xoxo
Sprinkle some water onto both Chanel leathers. You wont see any instant dark splotches that slowly disappear as it dries, meaning that both types of leather (caviar + lambskin) are “coated leathers”....with a very thin, transparent, waterproof urethane based layer on top of the leather, effectively sealing the leather. Different coatings possess different characteristics...eg:gloss level, stainability, resistance to scratching, ease of removal of stains, optical clarity, pliability etc. When you clean or touch such bags, your skin is touching that transparent topcoat. Such a top coat, if moisturised by any suitable moisturizer, would remain flexible and less prone to cracking. But do not expect to “feed” or “nourish” such leathers as the leather is permanently sealed under that transparent top coat. You are merely scratching that top coat and cleaning that top coat.
I love your Chanel videos as it is so informative. I am planning to buy my first chanel bag. Originally I plan to buy a mini square in caviar, but I find the seasonal WOC with two tone colors which is so pretty today. The reason to let me hesitate is the lambskin and the price is the same as the mini square. As I have a limited budget for the classic double flap, I would like to get more advices. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much dear wu :) If your budget permits, then go for the classic double flap. I love it. But otherwise I also love the mini square and the mini rectangle. A regular WOC should cost less than the square mini but otherwise perhaps the seasonal WOC you mentioned is more expensive because of the way its made? Either way I would think about what you really need.... the size is important to consider when purchasing your first CHANEL bag. The mini square can hold more than the WOC but the WOC is a bit more user friendly since it lays so nice flat to the body and the chain is longer. The classic double flap is amazing since its a staple of original CHANEL bags from the time when Coco herself was still alive but they are the most expensive of all the CHANEL bags also for that reason... Either way you decide to go, I am sure you will make the right decision because all CHANEL bags are beautiful in the end ;) xoxo
I really really love your points of views as they are so professional and different from others. Great! I would really like to get the classic but I want something special at the same time. The seasonal WOC I want to buy is as the following link : www.chanel.com/en_GB/fashion/products/small-leather-goods/g/s.wallet-on-chain-lambskin-beige.16B.A84021Y07659C1633.sto.new.html I really like this style but I am afraid it will be outdated after certain time and the classic style never goes wrong.
Ah, now I see which one you mean... hmm... yes.. its a tricky call... I personally would only go for such an experimental new look for a WOC after I got the classic WOC... but again, its just me. I am not saying its a standard for everybody to follow. I just personally love the classics and always enjoy wearing them... Only now, after a few years am I contemplating getting other colors and experimenting with newer CHANEL bag shapes... but its always hard for me since every time I go to the CHANEL boutique I fall in love with another black bag... haha... super strange... but yes... as a first CHANEL bag I would definitely go with a classic because ti truly will never go out of style :) But either way you choose to go I am sure you will make the right decision! Just follow your heart and see when you feel butterflies in your stomach when you look at each bag and choose the one that makes your heart truly skip a beat ;) xoxo
Thank you for making this video. I have a new 2016 black quilted (not chevron) lambskin back pack size small on hold. I love the beauty of the bag as shown in other youtuber videos but as I was second guessing the bag made of lambskin, I immediately thought of you as the "go to" expert on everything Chanel :) Do you have any thoughts or recommendations regarding this bag? I really appreciate/value your opinion. Thank you!
+Staci Harper Hi Staci :) Thank you for your comment and question. The backpacks in general are all very cute. They do not have a huge resell value in several years unless they are matelasse... which you say you backpack would be so that is good. In general, if you are into backpacks I would say go for it. It the backpack you are talking about is the one that is open on top, without a flap, then I would be hesitant to get it since I would fear people being able to easily reach into my backpack... xoxo
+Super Dacob Thank you for your quick reply! So yes, it does have the flap closure w/ turn key CC, when you open the flap it looks just like a bucket bag w/ a drawstring. I really wasn't too concerned about resale, just wondered if the bag would retain it's beauty with age. I know it will "relax" with time but wondered about the lambskin durability when used on a back pack. (Stuckonstyle2Robin has a reveal) You're awesome, love your passion :)
I put my name on a waiting list for classic jumbo flap and my SA told me to get caviar not lambskin cuz I told her that I want to use it everyday and I'm also a mom w a 5 and 3 yro!!? 😂 should I call her and ask her to change it to lambskin!?? Now IDK!!! Help 😁
+MitraKach No matter what anybody tells you you need to follow your heart and gut instinct! Always buy what you love! If you wanted lambskin all along, then go for it. Both lambskin and caviar are delicate leathers and both need care but they can both age gracefully. Wish you luck with whichever one you choose :) xoxo
I wish I saw this video a year ago. I went to buy my first chanel piece. Now I had the choice with the Chanel Woc caviar like yours on the screen or the mini lambskin rectangular black in gold hardware (which is seasonal). But I choice the WOC. I wish i choice the mini lambskin and yes the SA tend to discourage you saying all that durable bull haha. Thanks and cant wait to know about your chanel bag drama and hope they give you that credit note. x
+FMAYA 69 Thank you so much FMAYA 69 :) Super sweet of you! Yes! Fingers crossed I get the credit note! Lets hotpe it happens... Its been two weeks now almost and still now reply from CHANEL... I think you made a good choice with the WOC! I am not talking leather now but just model of bag! he WOC is a timeless classic and I personally believe it looks best in caviar! The minis look best in lambskin. They always produce minis so you are in time to get one whenever you are ready. But the WOC is a magical little bag and you are alucky lady to have one :) xoxo
+Super Dacob Thanks hun xxx and don't take NO for an answer and you should even demand CASH at this point because of all the trouble and go as far as experienced bag trauma lollllll.... Love your videos xxx
Right now I would not recommend getting any chanel bags in leather made from 2021 onwards since their quality has dropped in my opinion drastically. I would only get bags made prior to 2021 for now. As for the bags prior to 2021, lambskin is the classic way to go for the timeless classic unless you want a fresher younger look, in which case I recommend the caviar.
@@SuperDacob so in store if has the chip in a classic it’s from 21 on right no choice new in store right ? And in store u say no new caviar or lambskin in black classic then ? Do 2020 and lower No chip resale ? I saw beautiful shinny very good caviar depth of pebbles but all bags have chips so no way to tell what year so I store prob 2021 on ? So lamb and caviar stay away from new in store classic med or small right ?
I would get both. There are pros and cons to both materials and I love how both leathers look. I hoewever would not recommend a jumbo. I would go for a medium or small instead.
Super Dacob - Thanks so much! Unfortunately I don't have the budget to buy both now😞. This will actually be my first Chanel bag so I'm trying to get more information on both the caviar and lambskin. I have the Trendy CC WOC in lambskin and I love the feel of the lambskin leather. I don't wear it often as I should since it down fit my lifestyle right now but hopefully in the long run I'll be able to enjoy it more😊
Unfortunately I cannot make that decision for you. I love both leathers to be honest. I also love the distressed calfskin used for the reissue bags. xoxo
Yeah! I've seen your videos and you have a variety of leathers. i hope someday I could build my own Chanel collection just like yours. I'm also more drawn to chanel than other designer handbag. Thanks for your ideas by the way :) i saw that you had the small both in the lambskin and caviar. Which do you use more often?
can you do videos on how to take care of your designer bags? The only designer bag is just a louis vuitton neverfull that im planning on using as a school bag for medical school. but im super paranoid to use it. obviously i know i wont put my textbooks cos its heavy, but im still paranoid to use it. Can you just do video on how you should care?
+Liz Kelly Hi Liz. I do not own a neverfull so I cannot do a video on how to care for that specific bag but I can tell you that the straps are pretty thin on that one. Be very carefull with the weight you put into it because even though the straps might hold the presure, still the piping around the opening of the bag might feel the stress and crack. It is an issue quite a few people have had with their neverfulls, but I believe it to be due to eventual overweight in the bag... xoxo
I am not sure right now after watching ur vedio, I was going to buy caviar leather, but now I dont know😫,it would be my first designer bag when I campare to diorama and le boy, love uuu
I wish all my chanel bags were lambskin now so I'm a little sad I chose caviar over lambskin. Pretty much most people in the 2000's and 90's were picking caviar over lambskin leather so it became way more popular and the price of caviar went up and was made par with lambskin. Now it seems like a lot more people are not afraid of the lambskin anymore and find it more beautiful. I can see my XL jumbo from 96 the leather is absolutely gorgeous and I just don't love my caviars as much even though they look like new.
+pinkfuchsia Both are amazing leathers! Don't get me wrong. I just wanted to demistify the myth of lambskin being less resistant. I do prefer caviar for the younger look of the bags in some cases. If I could I would have all the bags both in caviar and lambskin as well as the stressed calfskin from the reissues ;) hehe. xoxo
I bought a chanel WOC caviar like the one above this year in February and the leather on the chain has broken (the glue on the chain has detached) what do you think I should do as I bought it overseas and we don't have a chanel boutique where I live.
+Claudia Williams Is there a CHANEL boutique in your country? If there is, call them and esk to send the WOC in. If there is no CHANEL boutique in your country then it becomes tricky since you would need to contact the CHANEL boutique from the country you purchased it in and ask for procedures and you might need to pay the shipping costs yourself but I am not sure on that one. What I am sure about is that your WOC is covered by at least one year warranty so CHANEL would definitely replace the chain if you brought it back to the boutique... xoxo
Thank-you good to know it will be covered. I have emailed and I am waiting a reply. Unfortunately we don't have a CHANEL boutique here in New Zealand :(
I just got my classic medium Cavier today and I just wondering that How you can clean and maintain them? thanks PS.Do you have the video that you are taking about how to maintain them Sincerely, Bell
Hi Anothai. I do not have a video on how to take care of caviar bags. I might make one in the future though but this I can already say: Never use it under the rain. Do not get it wet and I personally do not use any chemicals on it. I only use the microfiber cloth that came with it. Thats all I use. Nothing more. Granted I have a black bag so they look always clean. Never overstuff the bag. Be careful to not bump into things and walls while you are wearing your bag. The caviar leather might scratch. Ans never ever leave it in the sun or expose it to heat! Also never use perfume near it or on it ;) Hope these tips help a little! Have fun with your new CHANEL bag dear :) xoxo
Thank you. I called in the Chanel store in Seattle, Portland and the one in the Beverly Hills. The one in Beverly Hills. They said we don't allow to give any information about it but the one in Seattle and Portland all they said "They have been using conditioner which is called "Cadillac" and they have it in Shoes department at Nordstrom. Many thanks about your adviced Big hug Bell
I am about to get a classic double flap in medium size in caviar, but I have to say I don't know anymore if I should go for Caviar or Lambskin after watching this video :D
You should get which ever akes your heart skip a beat! And don't think about the leathers and their qualities, properties and durabilities... Just let your heart guide you and you will not make a mistake :) xoxo
+Super Dacob you were SO RIGHT! I went to Rue Cambon yesterday, and I got the lambskin. I fell in love with it over the caviar as soon as I saw it. It's pure beauty 😍 And thank you for your video on how to purchase a Chanel bag, I follow your recommendation step by step :) xoxo
YAAAAAY!!! Congratulations on you new bag dear :) I am SUUUUUPER THRILLED FOR YOU!!!!!! :) Party timeeee!!!! Also, I wish you super fun and great times with your new CHANEL baby :) xoxo
Super Dacob thank you so much for the reply. My heart was set on Calfskin but I just needed to hear it. Lol. What's your reasoning behind it? btw I have the Caviar WOC. Again I love watching your videos coz they are thorough and informative. You have great knowledge 👍
Their vintage lambskin was incredible. The lack of quality and quality control in their newer bags is what might bring them to phase it out. Its all on them. If they reduced production quantities they could go back to the old school quality...
I plan to buy two Chanel bags, classic flap, black with gold hardware, and the boy, old medium with gold or rhw. One I'm buying new and one used. Long story. I think I'd use the boy a lot more and the classic for special occasions. Do you think the lambskin classic flap looks more formal than the caviar? I wish I could find a caviar boy bag but seems they're impossible to find. Which of those two bags is a better "investment?"
Hi Amy, I do not see CHANEL bags in terms of investments. They are beautiful bags that I love to use and enjoy both outside and indoors. I cannot therefore answer your question. I can tell you though that the lambskin always looks more formal than the caviar leather. xoxo
+Zaida Rivera It worries me... its too sticky and very prone to color transfer. Once the coor transfer has occured onto the lacquered area, the color is absorbed and can never get out again. I am also terrified by the drying out of the patent coating and chipping or cracking...
black patent is not prone to color transfer since its black so thats good but another thing you need to take extra care for is that the patent bag doesn't stick to other surfaces that might melt into it or glue to it... like paper or receipts... its very tricky and susceptible to heat and humidity too... I am just too paranoid with my CHANEL to go in the patent direction... but I am very attracted to the look of the patent bags when they are new! beautiful shine! xoxo
yes! You need to baby that bitch like theres no tomorrow! Pink patent is AMAZINNNNG!!!! Its the best patent color cuz it shines from within but its the most delicate after white and yellow patent! But in my eyes patent and pink are the best combo! They just scream Barbie and fun times! LOVE IT! Glad you were brave enough to go for it! :) xoxo

+Tina Jordan Thank you Tina :) xoxo
I most definitely agree with you. 2/3 of my bags are lambskin. Chanel leathers of any type are sensitive... If anyone wants a tank, get LV canvas.....
I also agree about your point with SAs... I've seen really finicky people at Chanel who freak about about any scratch... I can see why SAs push toward caviar. But also at the same time, I've scratched my caviar bag and it did not "heal" like my lambskin so... That stinks because once you scratch caviar, there's no going back. Nothing can fix it =\
At the end of the day, go with what you like.
Researching like crazy for my first Chanel...this was so helpful! Thanks!!!
Glad you liked my video! xoxo
You rock!
+I Juju Thank you I Juju! Yepp, we must always try to see the broader picture in these cases and to me lambskin is definitely a keeper ;) xoxo
Lambskin is gorgeous! The way it ages and shines! So luxurious😁
I love lambskin too a lot!
You are very educated and this video was very informative! Thank you.
Thank you!
for a wallet I guess Caviar is good 😊 but cannot challenge the looks of lambskin...
+Thushara Vithanage agreed :) xoxo
Happy you made a decision that made you happy :) Wishing you a lot of fun with your WOC :) xoxo
Love your passion for Chanel handbags! Thank you for doing informative videos about them!
Thank you Melissa :) xoxo
i agree with you 100%. i have a 80‘s lambskin belt bag and also a 90‘s caviar shoulder bag. the lambskin bag is 15years older and the overall condition was more used than the caviar one but the lambskin is still buttery and soft and looks amazing. the caviar got some sort of dry i would say, lost its shinyness and i noticed some cracking on the areas rhat got bend alot (like the sides on the flap etc) wich the lambskin dont have at all. maybe they scratch easier but as you said-you can buff the scratches out. im definately team lambskin even if caviar is beautiful too
well said Dave!
Glad I could be of help Anita :) xoxo
They are both amazing bags. Look at both and pick based on looks. Pick the one you love the most.
You are quickly becoming one my favorites on You Tube. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Enjoying from Florida. 😀
+AKAWizKid Thank you so much :) Means a lot to me! Hugs to Florida and the sun! xoxo
+Narelle Ravesi Yes! And there you have it! A living testament to what I was saying in my video! Thanks for the great comment dear Narelle :) xoxo
I just got a lambskin few days ago and your video makes me less worry about it, thank you 🙏
Don't worry about it! It is a delicate leather but it can age very gracefully if you take care especially of its corners and edges while wearing. Just don't bump into things with the bag while wearing it ;) xoxo
Super Dacob that’s my problem, I always bumping around and people like to bumping me as well because I’m too small for them to see me 😂
Thats why I personally prefer the smaller bags, because I can protect them with my hands while I walk in crowded spaces. Bigger bags are more hard to protect from bumps.
I got Classic mini and I gonna take her out today to see the world and let see if I can protect her or not. Argggg I’m afraid lol 😖😱😰😤
My caviar bag Is perfect for everyday. With My Lambskin bAg I have TO be careful
I love both looks, be it caviar or lambskin. And I will always treat my lambskin with kid gloves. If ever I end up with something in caviar it will be cherished and taken care of too with just as much love as I lavish on my little lamb.
This was so educational. Thank you Professor Dacob!
+Lanier Smith Thats the best way to approach both lambskin and caviar leather :) YOu give love and you get love in return :) xoxo
Lambskin just ages more gracefully if one uses their bags on a daily basis.
Thanks for the video. Yes it does seem like a lot of people think that the caviar leather is like a tank and is indestructible. I love my lamb skin bag. So far it's been great and no issues ❤️😘😍😉
+Mrs Grandberg Yes! Lambskin is a very good leather that just keeps shining througout the years :) xoxo
I normally go for caviar when it comes to bigger items and lambskin for small ones. Caviar in my opinion goes well with SHW and lambskin with GHW. Thanks for an informative video x
Thank you for watching dear :) xoxo
I just got a lambskin jumbo flap and have refused to use it due to all the hype about it being super delicate but this video has made me feel so much better about it lol def subscribed
+Tyra Sims Thants great Tyra :) Glad you will use your bag! Wish you a lot of fun with it! Thank you for subscribing! Welcome to the fashion bunker family :) xoxo
Thank you I needed the clarification.
Glad I could help 😊
I loved your video❤️❤️❤️. I almost exchanged my Lambskin leather bag for a caviar leather bag. You helped me change my mind ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you dear and congratulations on all the CHANEL pieces! Wishing you a lot of fun times with your collection :) xoxo
Super Dacob xoxo 😘
Xoxo
MJ.
+Stanleydragonjr Yes, caviar matelasse is tricky if not treated with delicate care ove the years. xoxo
SUper glad I could be of help dear :) Wishing you great shopping times and a lot of fun at CHANEL :) xoxo
"They kind of think they bought a tank" LOL
Me currently lol so I'm just trying to figure out what to get
Awesome video, Dacob!! I actually agree. The lambskin over a longer period of time looks better than a lot of caviar pieces. Creasing and slouching on caviar is not pretty. Have a wonderful weekend 🌺 💕 🌸 💕 XOXO
+fmfv1 Thank you Farah dear :) Glad you liked the video! Have a great weekend dear :) xpxp
I’m planning on buying my first Chanel classic flap in the size jumbo next month. Should I go for lambskin or caviar? Planning to use the bag daily
+MsBlueMaude Thank you for the great comment MsBlueMaude :) xoxo
+Super Dacob thank you soooo much dacob for the recommendation x
Does Lambskin stain rain marks if your caught in the rain?
+Caterina Iona Glad you liked my video Caterina! Wish you lots of fun with your upcoming new M/L lambskin :) xoxo
+Super Dacob :) xoxo
Dacob can you do a video on the variations on caviar leather. Some of the grains are small and rougher and some are softer and bigger and apparently there’s a whole bunch of other variations or more shiny, matte, more plush and I don’t see a single person talking about it.
Hey sweetie, I totally concur with you. I had that mindset then with caviar until I'd owned a vintage square mini lambskin & she still looks gorg till to date. Have a superD weekend! xoxoxo
+Kay Koh Yepp! Lambskin ages so well! But so does caviar if you baby it :) Have a great weekend :) xoxo
I like your comments and it’s true.. love lamb skin so much
Thank you Joa!
This is not the case with all of their bags but unfortunately with most of them it is... xoxo
I'm a new subby and love your videos! You have great knowledge of Chanel. I'm impressed!! Thank you for sharing your information.
Thank you for subscribing to my channel Chirp Chirp!
I'm sorry, I know that is not related to the video but I must say that you are BEAUTIFUL! 😍😍
Thank you :)
I want the classic flap in caviar because i keep hearing that caviar is stronger but i guess it doesnt matter
Thanks for the video!! I want to buy my first Chanel bag Chanel woc but I am undecided on the lambskin vs caviar...I still am not 100% but your video did help a lot!! Thanks!
+Ellery's Mom Glad I could be of help :) xoxo
I have a boy in lambskin in the box and haven't used it because I am so afraid to scratch the hell out of it! Thanks for this video!
+CINDY FERNANDEZ Dear Cindy! We live only once! Enjoy your CHANEL boy bag and have fun with it! Give it life :) xoxo
Is it true they've stopped making them with Caviar?
Great comparison - the picture quality of your video makes the comparison so much better (easier to see). Thanks.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed my video!
Each time I learn something new from u... Amazing as usual
Thank you star Watcher :) xoxo

Thank you karen :) Glad you liked my video :) xoxo
Hi Dacob,
Have you had experience with lamb skin boys?
Have you still not used your bag? Did you sell it?
It is more heavy duty in WOC form but it is also not indestructible and it must not be overstuffed and it also must not be overstuffed with heavy things. xoxo
@@SuperDacob thanks for your reply. I will get the caviar leather. No, I don't overstuff my bags. I hate it..hahah :D
Because after what happened to you and your bag, makes me rethink any possible purchase of Chanel.
long comment I know, I'm sorry,
ps I adore your videos :)
Thank you Donna :) Yes, the caviar WOC is still in production! xoxo
I love the look and feel of lambskin, caviar just can’t compare
I want to get my first chanel lambski this year, but I live in Amsterdam and the weather here is rainy as f, what you guys think? should I go for it or buy a "tank" better?
Tricky call! Caviar seems to react better to water but then again we have the metal hardware which should never get wet really... I would get a small bag so that you can protect it under a coat or under the umbrella when it rains. If its small enough then it does not matter if its lambskin or caviar. xoxo
Hi Dacob! Very helpful video many thanks! I do have one question: do you recommend getting a Maxi classic flap in lambskin?
If you like the big CHANEL bags then sure, why not. I prefer the smaller CHANEL bags for myself. xoxo
Very helpful, thanks for sharing!
Thank you dear :) xoxo
Just change my mind thank you for the info 😍😊 definitely go for a Lambskin 💃💃💃
Interesting information JK! Thanks for sharing. How do you know the exact specific facts of CHANEL leather coating?
The seasonal WOC I want to buy is as the following link :
www.chanel.com/en_GB/fashion/products/small-leather-goods/g/s.wallet-on-chain-lambskin-beige.16B.A84021Y07659C1633.sto.new.html
I really like this style but I am afraid it will be outdated after certain time and the classic style never goes wrong.
(Stuckonstyle2Robin has a reveal)
You're awesome, love your passion :)
+Staci Harper In that case you are good to go :) I think chanel bags in general age very well if used with care and love :) xoxo
Love your videos xxx
haha! True! Bag TRAUMA! I love it! So drammatic! xoxo
OK years and years and years later do you still team lambskin for a classic small and mediums or caviar
Ty for the review Jacob😘😘
+Sweetnalia You're welcome sweetie :) Thanks for watching! xoxo
Hi! Love your video! Thinking of buying the classic flap jumbo in gold hardware. Would you recommend caviar or lambskin for that?
I would get both. There are pros and cons to both materials and I love how both leathers look. I hoewever would not recommend a jumbo. I would go for a medium or small instead.
Super Dacob - Thanks so much! Unfortunately I don't have the budget to buy both now😞. This will actually be my first Chanel bag so I'm trying to get more information on both the caviar and lambskin. I have the Trendy CC WOC in lambskin and I love the feel of the lambskin leather. I don't wear it often as I should since it down fit my lifestyle right now but hopefully in the long run I'll be able to enjoy it more😊
I see... it is a super difficult decison! Lambskin is way more elegant but caviar is more fresh and young.
I'm about to buy my first chanel flap. What leather do you think would be best for the m/l and the jumbo? I'm kinda torn with these two.
Hi do you know how the lambskin holds up when it gets wet? Just in case I happen to get caught in the rain. Thanks!
Hi, I would avoid the rain and all water like the plague! Don't ever let it get wet!
can you do videos on how to take care of your designer bags?
Its never easy to chose between lambskin and caviar... I say go with whatever makes your heart skip a beat :) xoxo
+Super Dacob thank u, I think I gonna go for carvia, subscribed, love u😘
Thank you for subscribing dear Eva :) Welcome to the fashion bunker family! I wish you loads of fun with your upcoming caviar ;) xoxo
eva x
If I could I would have all the bags both in caviar and lambskin as well as the stressed calfskin from the reissues ;) hehe. xoxo
well that does make me feel better lol! You really do need all of them!!!
haha! Yepp, we need them all! Just like Pokemons ;) xoxo
I'm rewatching...goetting a small bag and I think I need lambskin back in my collection xx
Love the lambskin too! My favorite is thogh the aged calfskin used for the reissues! The softness and the smell alone get me every time!!! :)
Unfortunately we don't have a CHANEL boutique here in New Zealand :(
Fingers crossed then! Australia has a CHANEL boutique which would be the closest I guess... I hope it turns out good and to your satisfaction :) xoxo
this video is verry helpfull . would you purchase small leather goods in caviar or lamb leather ?
Thank you. I would purchase both, depending which one I like better in a certain shape.
I just got my classic medium Cavier today and I just wondering that How you can clean and maintain them?
thanks
PS.Do you have the video that you are taking about how to maintain them
Sincerely,
Bell
Many thanks about your adviced
Big hug
Bell
Thank you for the information dear Bell. I personally woud not use any conditioner but then again... thats just me. xoxo
I wish I saw this video last year. Great advice. My woc is in caviar and I wish I bought it in lambskin since my boy is caviar
It's pure beauty 😍
And thank you for your video on how to purchase a Chanel bag, I follow your recommendation step by step :)
xoxo
YAAAAAY!!! Congratulations on you new bag dear :) I am SUUUUUPER THRILLED FOR YOU!!!!!! :) Party timeeee!!!! Also, I wish you super fun and great times with your new CHANEL baby :) xoxo
Dacob really need your expert advise. Caviar vs Calfskin for the old medium BOY? TYI. Love your videos 😁
I say calfskin! ;) xoxo
Super Dacob thank you so much for the reply. My heart was set on Calfskin but I just needed to hear it. Lol. What's your reasoning behind it? btw I have the Caviar WOC. Again I love watching your videos coz they are thorough and informative. You have great knowledge 👍
Lambskin is beautiful, but I've read Chanel has had a lot of problems with their lambskin bags, so much so that they may phase it out.
Their vintage lambskin was incredible. The lack of quality and quality control in their newer bags is what might bring them to phase it out. Its all on them. If they reduced production quantities they could go back to the old school quality...
THIS IS SO HELPFUL THANK YOU!
I can tell you though that the lambskin always looks more formal than the caviar leather. xoxo
Thanks xo!
what type of leather Chanel used for their first bags?
since they started use leather
+Keeping Up With Ravi CHANEL's first 2.55 bag was made in Jersey. Not in leather. After that came lambskin and suede.
+Super Dacob thank u🌹
good review.. thank you for the info
Thank you olla! xoxo
Can it hold the latest IPhone
Lambskin is so beautiful! 😍 so what do you think of patent leather?
+Zaida Rivera It worries me... its too sticky and very prone to color transfer. Once the coor transfer has occured onto the lacquered area, the color is absorbed and can never get out again. I am also terrified by the drying out of the patent coating and chipping or cracking...
+Super Dacob This is true but damn it a black patent purse looks sooo hot! Lol
black patent is not prone to color transfer since its black so thats good but another thing you need to take extra care for is that the patent bag doesn't stick to other surfaces that might melt into it or glue to it... like paper or receipts... its very tricky and susceptible to heat and humidity too... I am just too paranoid with my CHANEL to go in the patent direction... but I am very attracted to the look of the patent bags when they are new! beautiful shine! xoxo
+Super Dacob I have a Chanel pink patent leather bag and I make sure to baby that bitch! Lol
:) xoxo
prefer the lambskin .. thnkuuu dear
+nizar Bessan Thank you :) xoxo
