"It's a weird game going on between the band and the place where they play. A mesmerizing Eiffel Tower or Trocadero usually steal the show with their size and more or less spectacular tricks, but here's a band no one would expect to find there, competing with all those crowd-pullers. Phoenix and a camera meeting hip-hop dancers or junk salesmen. A band seizing the attention of an unprepared audience who then gathers, as if the four guys had always been part of the landscape, shyly asking whether they really are who they think.
Yes, it was Phoenix, in Paris. At the foot of the Eiffel Tower."

To be married and have Phoenix be your impromptu wedding band. The sweetest things in life really are for free!
Best wedding ever
Looked more like a photo shoot.
I wonder how they are...
Either the most unique wedding or....son of a b*tch!! Pheonix just up staged me....
13 years on and still one of the coolest acts ever
the camera man knowns exacly what he/she was doing. Beautiful images
The shots with the married couple in the background evokes so many emotions that I cannot really explain.
Eleven years and this music still looks so great and cool!
I just love the guy that sells the eiffel towers in the end and knows they're Phoenix, has their cd
I love the cinematic experience that LaBlogotheque has. Their directing and editing is sublime.
there is something in his voice that makes me appreciate their songs more and more...
Same!
Started tearing as soon as i saw the married couple
Same here trippy matt
THIS is how you operate a camera. this is more vivid than a memory while containing just as much information. i am in love with your stlye.
Can't stop watching this, I watch it every couple of weeks and it's just so fucking impressive. Wedding there and then, and a flawless live performance from a super talented band.
Max Biddick I’ve been watching this since it first got uploaded. Every time I see it , it’s like re-discovering it every single time
Phoenix is one of the most underrated bands of all time
They're actually quite successfull :/
David PvP compared to other bands they're highly underrated my dude
@masa musa they're not a huge group by any sense of the word. they're underrated lol

I swear to fuck if my wedding included Phoenix all of a sudden and they started putting on a show like this I would cry so fucking hard of excitement.
Thank you La Blogotheque. This is innovative media that erases barriers and boundaries between artists and art lovers...thank you so much.
Good times, awesome vibe! Miss these days and the feeling of being alive, living an adventure, discovering people and places.
It was through this video that I instantly became a fan of Phoenix in 2009. The visuals of Paris, the romance, and the live performance made this song so enjoyable.
That cinematography was amazing
3:40 - So cool how the band and the Eiffel Tower come together. I like how the camera technique makes less interesting things like shoes and crowds bring something special to the video
oh man...how can everyone remain so calm and composed with phoenix in front of them? I would run to laurent and deck and give them really big hugs!!!
this is very likely my favorite video on youtube
I feel like the couple that just got married really complete this video, what more could you want? You just got married and are having an amazing day and you come upon an incredible band playing in the street :) Perfect.
glad this is one of my favorite records ever. they are timeless. very unique twist on pop and appealing to a larger audience without losing a beat. its hard to explain. love it.
Still probably one of my favorite videos ever. Camera man, you sure know your angles. And it's a wonderful thing you do! PHOENIX you'll always rock!
this is the one song i will never get tired of i play it at least 18 times everyday
I'm not from France, but I guess the fact that they are makes the band even more special! Phoenix je t'adore.
This was A DECADE AGO! I was 18 back then!
Love how Deck just taped a speaker to the keyboard, genius
There is so much happiness in this video.
this really brightened my day up. alot.
thank you.
what was ruining ur day?
this kind of art is timeless. always bring me to smile whenever watch it
The best wedding gift ever :)
Just listen this on repeat brings me smiles during my saddest times
really beautiful when you see all the people they are making happy in the streets with some wooden boxes, rhythm, and a voice. music is really a powerful tool, and this video is testament to this.
I feel a strong underlying love for and benevolence towards human beings in a lot of Moon's Take Aways. Really beautiful movies, with real substance not just some exercise in pretense and glamour. sick....
Magique
Julie Barrière Merci !
Indeed. I watched their live performance once in Indonesia and it was great. It was heavy raining, but they still insisted to play. What a band!
Me gusta el hecho de que la gente no sabía que la banda estaba ahí, también agrego que la dirección es brillante, lo veo de vez en cuando y me sigue fascinando...
Liberté, égalité, Phoenix!
Absolutely love everything, including the bit at the end.
I thought no one knew it was Phoenix. Turned out someone did, and he was so chill about it too! Amazing.
This is still my favourite TH-cam video ever.
simply the chords.. are just so beautiful. and when voice comes in. perfect. aahhhh marry me song!
Still such a beautiful song
Saw them at DAR in Washington DC and it was the best show I've ever been to! After going into the crowd he invited everyone on stage for the last two songs, riveting man.
1901 is SO AWESOME!!!!! Phoenix seriously needs more fame because they are FREAKIN' AMAZING!!!!!! PHOENIX FOREVER!!!! And I will forever be envious of that couple. I'm definitely going to play 1901 at my wedding!
Every year since this video was posted. I have to see it. Love you Take Away show! I wish you guys still had the Fleet Foxes and Delta Spirit videos up!
My life dream is to walk around Paris and find Phoenix playing on the streets
this remnds me of much better times.
woah. i'll be freaked out if i met them in a random place singing 1901
Man, I'd be so disappointed if I saw a famous band (but didn't know they were famous at the time) lol.
That's like my worst fear. xD
This one is my favorite because of the Married Couple in front of the Eiffel Tower
Why is this one better than the original? It's the acoustic guitar and this mans voice combined that's creating magic.
this camera man is genius. he doesn't get enough props.... props.
....to have been there that day, that hour, those minutes..would've been AMAZING
The French have always been good at making you have faith in humanity through music. Everything they do relating to music, composing, dancing (even things like breakdancing, there is a uniquely 'French' style), I am constantly reminded that this world is not as horrible as ABC news says it is. It started with Chopin, hundreds of years later, we get Phoenix. Watching this has made me love life.
This brings me back to my university years in sherbrooke and this coffre place where there was an open jam session every wednesday. Now i feel all nostalgic :p
“And I’ll be anything you ask and more”
I'm so glad you're uploading again. The cinematography really captured the moment. You're a great inspiration.
Great performance as well.
I appreciate the cameraman
Indie-Pop icons ✨💯
No matter how many times I watch this, it never gets old. The video is spectacular, is the song is just downright awesome.
Seeing the married couple just made me verklempt.
2:00 - look at the smile on Laurent's face. That's what makes watching these videos so great - they get lost in the joy of playing songs.
Good times
Still listening with passion in 2020
This video is so happy. The entire mood is captured by the smiley man at 3:19
It might be the hour (4am) and that I've got a gigantic essay to write, but I am so happy for the married couple!
This is why I love LaBlogotheque. They capture the music at some point in time, almost rare.
this is amazing. I love how theres a bride & groom just standing there in full gear! haha (:
so cute
I ove the look on the guitarists face after he played those false notes at the end :D
I love the Take Away Shows, and I love Phoenix, so this one just blows me away. My favorite Take Away Show by FAR! Brilliant!
This is my favorite movie haha
SUPERB camerawork... Jesus I love this.
I CAN'T BELIEVE there's people that walk by and don't even realize that this is the best ever, Phoenix!! I love them! how can people waste such great opportunity!
the cinematography is gorgeous
This song is beyond great, brings happiness when i listen to it.
DEAR CAMERA MAN: ZOOM THE FUCK OUT.
I love the thing they did with the hand at the beginning.
this video is still all I asked for and more 🙂
I keep returning to this vid so often. I love everything about it.
this is a real breath of fresh air. they're like coldplay with french flair and sophistication, and minus an over-use of falsetto
Within select electronic bands, there in lies a true acoustic musician. Can't wait to see them @ Sweetlife Festival 2013!
I love the fact that the 'material tower' that is 'overrated' and 'not going to stay' is in the background of this. How fitting!
This video and the music just made me smile.
Still slaps video gives me chills
Brings a smile every time
I screamed 'YES!' when they finally got the beat and the music kicked in.
I cry everytime I watch this...
Still crying over here 😭
This is by far one of the most beautiful videos I've seen. Outstanding.
I think I watched this video at least 25 times today
still great.
SO SOOOOO AWESOME! how cool would it be to be visiting the Eiffel Tower then all of the sudden you hear Phoenix playing!?
love all "A Take Away Show" video such a joy to watch
that sounded so good! even better the the album version i love it. : )
More of this please TH-cam!!
I never really noticed. Spose he was putting all of his energy into his voice, rather than flapping bout like a numpty. Still sounds brilliant.
my fav take away show
One of the best to date. Absolutely amazing.
love this video, phoenix captures the beauty in the simplest forms
The essence of music and film
excelente vibra! saludos desde Mexico
Because of this, I want to go to Paris again and hope that I will stumble upon Phoenix (or some other band I like) doing something like this.
I love it when I watch a clip like this and I think "God I fucking loved that, there was just something about it" and then I see other people agree with me :)
Una maravilla!!! Me encanta esta canción...
