I appreciate that, thank you! Sometimes I feel like I'm talking a lot but it's live TV and you can't just have silence ha. I'm from Cedar Rapids Iowa and now live in Arizona. My heart was beating so fast in fear for all of my family and friends living in Iowa. I was so thankful to hear my hometown was spared but my prayers and hope go out to everyone in Iowa, and Arkansas and everywhere that these incredible tornadoes touched down. It was interesting to learn that a handful of people in the Joplin tornado died from fungus spores being released into the air. A bunch were also sickened and hospitalized with drug resistant fungal infections. It's like adding insult to injury that people who survived the physical trauma of that monster tornado later succumbed to exposure to fungi. Tragic. The dirt being picked up here reminds me of that horrible situation.
Let's reiterate here. HANDFUL. People who are SENSITIVE can have issues with mold and fungus spores. They're always lofted ino the air even just sweeping . It doesn't have to be a huge damaging tornado
I have never heard of fungus spores and the first I’ve heard that killed people at Joplin!! Boy-guess u have to think of EVERYTHING!! There was enough death that day!! Joplin didn’t need deadly fungus spores, also taking lives!! How horrid!!!
In all my years watching the weather and even being close to tornadoes. Never seen what so many saw yesterday. That was a tornado outbreak for the ages. Two distinct high risk areas. Prayers to all impacted by these deadly storms.
I grew up in mid Michigan 1966-86 and the tornados (mostly the threat and waiting for them) was terrible, then I lived in Los Angeles from 1986-2013 and went through some crazy earthquakes. Give me an earthquake over a tornado any day, one moment it's shaking, then stops. The anxiety of 'waiting' for a tornado to maybe pass, was just maddening!!....hahahahaha.
Scary to even imagine!! I have lived in the northeast my entire life and could never understand people wanting to live in states where tornadoes exist! Brave or stupid, people stay!🙏💗🙏
We haven't had any big earthquakes in LA since 1986. Northridge was a moderate one but still only in the 6s. Personally I would prefer a tornado since I wouldn't mind living in a storm basement as opposed to having part of my home fall on me in my sleep. But seeing a semitrailer launched into the air is scary as heck.
@@Tokamak3.1415 the 1986 earthquake was in Palms Springs FAR from L.A. and was only a 6.0, some reports say lower, the 1989 earthquake in central California was a 6.9 while the Northridge earthquake in 1994 was a 6.7. PLEASE, if you’re gonna try and correct someone get your gd facts correct!!
That was a slow-moving tornado. That is why I don't want to live on flatland unless you're willing to lose everything you own and you have a good underground storm shelter and hopefully get animals in as well.
It’s always crazy to me how they form when everything else looks so calm weather wise. You don’t get tornado watches here in the southeast US unless it’s severe storming
First, let the people and animals be safe and, if possible, their homes. We have windmills south of us here in Missouri and I am thinking they are no match for a twister of any size.
I’ve seen footage of turbines taking direct hits from tornadoes and they can handle a lot. The blades are very flexible and can be “trimmed” to make the blades slice the wind rather than be spun by it.

Thanks for chasing storms and the whole community spreading the info on socials, you have all saved many lives with pre notification before the sirens.
@@ozone8897 Exactly. Just about every storm that produces -- or could produce -- tornadoes travels SW to NE. Any other storm system is less likely to give us those conditions. I think it's to do with the amount of warm air to cold air ratios, or something like that, but I am no meteorologist. I just know that if the clouds have any level of rotation or speed that could give us a funnel, it's time to "batten down the hatches" and get to a windowless area. And then there's the telltale "sound of a freight train" that's often reported by those who have been through such events. This may sound colloquial and silly, but tornadoes are just another way of Mama nature letting us know she's good and PO'd. 😅

So creepy. Tornados always seem so sentient, especially when they're forming...
Almost as if nature has consciousness or something, truly strange.
My guess is that we're just connecting with it ourselves, and projecting our own sentience / fear. Seems as good a guess as any.
@@dudermcdudeface3674 I’m guessing you don’t believe in luck.
@@poodook I absolutely believe in luck. I'm just saying we see patterns in clouds, projecting our own minds on to the inanimate universe.
