- Phantom Falls is an impressive 140-foot seasonal waterfall situated in the North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve outside of the town of Oroville. It is one of those waterfalls I have wanted to visit for a long time and I was glad to finally get to see it after the 2019 rainy season. Check it out if you are in the area but make sure to bring a GPS track with you.

That's my hometown!! Thanks for sharing it.
Wow. Never knew about phantom falls. Thanks for sharing.
No problem!
Italionmex2015 me either I went to school in oroville and grew up in Gridley next time I visit I guess !
Josh Dollins absolutely. Hopefully there will be some water when you go.
You made this hike super informative. That's why I love watching. *The things you need to know about like the pass and app.
Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
Wow! What a beautiful part of Cali and the falls were magnificent and inspiring. 👍
It was a beautiful spot I had never explored before!
Such a beautiful place!
These falls are beautiful! I’ll bet the fields are just gorgeous right now with all the wildflowers! Thanks for sharing this area.
I bet they are as well!
Shimmering as usual، glory, peace ❤
As an indigenous Native American from the Butte County foothills...I absolutely love 💕 this area in Spring Season. Table Mountain is known for the flora that grows in this specific area alone. I would encourage a trip to the Chinese Wall in the Lake just past one of the cemeteries. I
The County has a great Chinese history in this specific county as well. 🙇🏻♀️🔍☝🏽❤️🇺🇸🙏🏽🕊
so many places to visit in Cali.
I agree, I always find more places to explore!
Beautiful I did not know this existed! My home town of Paradise (just north of there) burned down this year. I’m glad there is still green, and wildlife thriving in the surrounding areas.
So sorry to hear that Paradise was your home town. So sad about all of the fires in CA this year.
Interesting content , cows scare me due to bad childhood experience .
Josh the brave👍 thanks for getting us such a close shot
haha I have never been called that before!
Great video! I just dropped a video of my hike to Phantom Falls too. Such a beautiful hike and waterfall espy when the wild flowers are blooming.
For anyone wants to go now, the parking lot is much better and the trail is a lot easier to follow. But do NOT wear flip flops people! Just went to Phantom Falls with my fiancé yesterday because she has only lived in Oroville for a few years now. But I couldn't believe how many people wore dangerous shoes, and improper clothes! Like dressed and skirts!
Thanks for sharing the video!
Also, DO NOT USE Google Maps! It will lead you to the wrong place!
Bummed you didn't make it down to the bottom of the falls. There's actually a good route down the first small canyon just on the far side of the falls. There is a small old mine down underneath the overhang behind the falls.
Went today! It was great!
Gold nuggets in that stream you walked along. 100% 😁
Yesss
Thanks for sharing- It’s probably not all about the falls but the beautiful surroundings and the greenish feelings about being in Ireland, even if you’ve never been there 😆 ☘️
Thanks for sharing a good falls I want to visit...
That's a odd looking waterfall. Thanks for the vid. Nice.
Imagine coming up in this as a indigenous person. Out of all the cool California spots I’ve been to so far that’s always what I think of. We’re places like these spiritual grounds to them did any live here during wet season.
This entire time I'm thinking, who owns that land? Man I wish I had some land so I can build a house...
How tough or how long is the hike? I'm recovering from eight broken ribs, but I'd like to give it a try.
Wow!!! This is now definitely in my hiking bucket list! Thanks so much for showing us!
No problem!
How long does it take to get there from a parking lot?
Thanks for sharing this
You can 100% get to the bottom, there’s an old mine behind the water fall
To get a land pass for a large group do you just need one for the whole group of 1 pass per individual?
Josh thank you for another great video👍
Great videos thanks for sharing!
That dope !! a mini water fall in the middle of nowwhere ...thanks for sharing !
No problem, thanks for the comment Ian!
California is beautiful!!
Oroville,Ca 8 hrs frm so cal.... Been there.
I have been there this April, flowers flowers absolutely everywhere. Dreamlike, out of this planet
Can someone hike down to the caves behind the falls?
Everything is all dry out now smh
Another great video Josh. If you ever go back maybe you could take your drone. If it’s legal there I think drone shots of the waterfalls would be incredible, probably the wildflowers too. Thanks for taking me along to so many beautiful and interesting places I could never visit myself!
super job we have a table mountain near Jamestown. Was just there last week wild flowers were amazing. hiked with my 77 year old buddy and a pregnant woman carrying toddler on her back. View as amazing as well. Cheers.
This one was close to home so that’s where I explored today. Thanks for the insight beforehand. Not as much water flowing today but still a beautiful spring hike
I’m about 45 minutes away from here. Just learned about this trail. Definitely going to hike it.
What is a lands pass and where do you get one
Is it to late to go in may or June??
Wow that's a real canyon at the top of phantom falls. Looks like yosemite's half-dome. So many places are titled canyon but it's often just a hill. The meandering creek looks like it was freshly cut into the meadow with a knife. I'm so used to seeing boring "dry river beds" with no water in my area.
Hey Josh, just a little suggestion. Maybe include some scenes from the town of Oroville with your crew doing breakfast or lunch. It would be cool to see the community, as I'm sure most of the viewers have never been there. Also, this would make your video's longer, which I don't really mind (unless it's going to add too much video production time). Keep on.
Thanks for the tip, good idea to add more of the city, I just drove through it on this trip but will keep that in mind for the future!
amazing!!!!
I wanted to go
There this past summer, but it was too smoky.
Bummer, it would have been dry probably as well.
You gotta pay to hike this? :/
It IS an impressive waterfall! Actually they all are - super gorgeous and just incredibly beautiful scenery! Amazing to walk through cow fields and see that type of varied landscape and water features. Nice video as always 👍 -Heather
I agree, I was surprised by how beautiful the area was!
other than the falls, is this a good place for landscape photos?
It is mostly small rolling hills and not a lot else so its prob not great for landscape photos unless that is what you are looking for.
@@californiathroughmylens thanks for the info.
Beautiful
Looks like a large cave behind the bottom of the waterfall! Beautiful location!
Yea, I am sure it is cool down at the bottom as well.
Wow.... waterfall is placed real natural hidden place. I put in my bucket will visit here. Thanks for great information.
No problem, yep it is a pretty cool waterfall to find!
We did that hike about the same time and its a rad little spot.
I love your videos ! What sort of camera equipment do you use and are you thinking of buying a drone? That would be awesome ! Please keep up the great work.
I use a Sony A7Riii for my camera and I have a DJI Mavic Air but I don't always bring it with me. I have shot a few videos on my iphone though which works well also!
Great video. Added to my to do list.
Cool I live there
Shoot Josh, until you got to the waterfall I thought you were in Northwest Illinois. L o L. Love your videos Josh.
haha I know what you mean, it was pretty flat!
Very nice!
Thanks for the hike suggestion! Just completed it for my first ever hike.
Klamath Travels was there water?
@@Shady0utkast Quite a bit, I'd say 4-5 stream crossings, really muddy
Nice video! I should check it out. Did you shoot most of that on a go pro?
I shot all of this on my Sony camera A7Riii
We should collab! I’m a micro 4/3 shooter.
Went there last year no one knew how to get there lol
I understand, it is hard without a track to follow
Your video inspired us to do it this weekend for my dogs very first hike! It was amazing.
Tyler Plaza so awesome! How was it?
@@californiathroughmylens beyond amazing. I saw your video Friday and texted my girlfriend a link and said "we have to do this." Next thing I know I'm buying a day use land pass for us and we drove from Sacramento to Oroville Sunday. Had no idea this was so close to us!
@@Notaltunes haha that is so awesome, I am glad you got to do it while the water was still flowing!
Unique terrain...
I felt like you were talking to me on this one LOL. Now I can explore with no fear of getting lost. Thank you Josh for always giving us useful tips of where to go.
No problem, glad it was helpful!
Not up to him to make sure you can figure it out lol
